( This happened a few weeks back ) I drive down here from Newtown Square to get my nails done and a pedicure. I also tip very well. I always have to wait forever. The straw that broke the camels back today is, I only had a limited amount of time today and had to leave. The nail technician says. You can't wait few minutes. She said it to me twice. She never recognizes me. 1. I find that to be rude. 2. Your tipped $20 a shot each time I come. STILL You don't recognize who I am. Your loss. Treat your customers better. read more

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!!!!I just left this salon that I enjoyed going to for the past 7yrs. I was so disappointed in the service and the way the management tried to resolve. They offered no option to try to correct the problem but to keep repeating the same thing. They dismissed my suggestions to use the divider that separates the toes while polishing the nails. I asked why because I noticed it was used with others in the salon and had been used in the past. After 2 tries I still had smudges in the polish. They were going to do a 3rd try.....by putting polish remover to smooth but you can see it is not smooth and is too thick. It is not a professional look for $23. I was there 3hours already. This was a waste of my time and money. I will not go back. They refused my refund but I will be looking into that. Suggestion for Solar Nails in Clifton Heights - Listening is Golden. A friend raved to me about their pedicures so I stopped in for a full set for an interview the next day. It's literally only 3 technicians! I will say the salon appears clean, the silence in the salon is almost scary. They have two flat screens on the same channel on mute. My friend called me and I felt like I was speaking on a microphone in a library so I ended my call until I left. I paid $23 for a full set and it looks horrible. The male technician was rough, a lil arrogant and kept stabbing with his nails unintentionally. They get one star for taking debit! read more

I tried to go to a salon near my work today and I wish I would have just come to Solar! Solar is my favorite nail place in Delco! I almost don't want to tell you so it's easier for me to get an appointment but I thought, they need yelp recognition because I've been to most salons around here and they are by far the best. Atmosphere: relaxing! Muted tvs, soothing music. Great massage chairs. Employees: super nice and helpful and good at their jobs! Massages: best in Delco! Never have to worry about being screwed on time because with the spa massage they set timers, with the regular old massage you still get a pretty decent leg/foot massage usually (some better than others), scrub, hot rocks, hot towels, the works!! They really take an effort to scrub your feet for dead skin and they feel silky smooth and clean! They take the time to cut my nails properly avoiding any kind of ingrown toenails which has happened to me at other places. When you dry your nails they massage your back!! My eyebrows and lip waxing went great no burning, no breakouts. Only things I would say as neutral/negative: a lot of other salons have more nail color choices. As far as designs- they've done a few nice ones for me. But I get the impression that they can't do anything too complicated in this realm which I know some people look for. But they will try!! I love this nail salon. I just read many of the reviews from other clients complaining abut the quietness or their cuticles or not being remembered. The point is the salon is nice, clean, not noisy (which some people prefer), they do excellent work (if your cuticles are naturally gross, it isn't the salons fault), they do built a rapport with their customers (including me). It sad to see all these negative reviews when the actual place is nice, comfortable, relaxing and your nails look great when you leave. 5 stars here from a 7 year old customer. read more

Solar nail and spa only a 3 technicians on duty ..After a 45 min wait  on a Thursday  afternoon, as i listen  to one  technician  make  painful chit-chat, to another   customer.  about  nothing, just to talk ... praying i dont get him. Finally i get call in back for my eyebrow and upper lip wax .. and she is very rough , wipeing my face like my mom did when she was pissed off.  The wax was very hot. After pulling the strip off and part of my skin with it. She started  to  whipe my face again .. im thinking ( bitch your not scrubbing  your stove) with my face burning i sit down to get my refill . And in the middle of it she stops and goes to another customer and Takes her back to her wax of pain chair . Finally she's back to me. She went overboard a little much with the electric sander.  Not only is my face burning but my cuticles are now in pain. She did do a good job at painting. I walked in at 11:20 I'm out of there at 1:47. Total cost $37.00 read more

I've only EVER had 2 pedicures in my life. The first was a few years back and was given to me as a birthday present. The second was at Solar Nails. I was greeted right away and given a chair to sit in and soak my feet even though they didn't get to me for at least 20 minutes or so. Every single chair in the place was taken up (there were only 3 people working) and I was last in line - they had JUST opened, they were offering 50% off of all services AND it was graduation weekend for a lot of the area schools. It's ok, I wasn't in a rush. The massage chairs definitely helped relax me while I was hanging out... The gentleman that did my pedicure was polite, but not very talkative or friendly. I tried to make small talk and he gave me a couple of one word answers and went about what he was doing. Not a huge deal for me...I'm not always a talker, either. But, he should show SOME sort of personality! Once my services were done, they sat me under a foot fan so that my toes could dry before going about my evening. The guy that did my nails went on to the next person and kind of left me there! I don't think you need to stay under the fan for THAT long - usually 5 or 6 minutes is sufficient. After 10 minutes or so, I started to get impatient and flagged someone down so that I could pay and get out of there. The whole experience took over an hour with the wait and the extra long time under the fan. I would definitely go back - they are still offering great specials and pricing and they are near by. Hopefully, after a few more weeks open, they will become a little more efficient and personable! read more

My last visit there the technician dug so deep doing my finger cuticles, my finger bled and it was sore for three days afterwards. There was barely an apology let alone an offer of a discount. She never rushes always takes her time to make sure I get exactly what I'm asking for....and while my nails are drying....she takes the time to give me a shoulder massage. I've gotten many a pedicures in my life, but this place was quite nice. It's a bit small but even tho I walked in to what seemed like a booked salon, I only waited about 8 minutes to be put in a pedi chair. They give you the whole leg rub, hot stone massage and then when you sit to dry your nails they even give you a nice lite back massage. For $23, I feel like I got my money's worth. I went in on a Sat around 4, was taken back right away for my pedicure and started soaking my feet. The gentleman doing my nails came out less than 5 min into my soak and started working on my feet. He wasn't much of a talker which is good because neither am I and I would rather enjoy some peace and quiet than make painful small talk with strangers. I had some gruesome winter feet so it toot him a little over an hour to pretty them up but the pedicure was AH-MAZ-ING! The massage was wonderful and I nodded off a few times, they used hot stones and hot towels and for awhile I thought there was a communication gap and that this was going to be expensive, but I didn't care because it felt so good. Then it was off to the nail dryer where I got a shoulder massage, which is usually $1/minute at other salons - again it felt so good I didn't care. When I went to pay and was told it was $23 I told her that I got some special stuff and it was more money, she told me that was there standard pedi and it was only $23. The only downer was that tips are cash only. but other than that I love love LOVED them! Will def be coming back! read more
