I'm speechless and not in a good way. However, Junie was awesome and treated my mom with so much care. The man who did my pedicure was nothing short of a disappointment. I came in with my 3 sisters and mom to get pedicures before my wedding. We scheduled an appointment beforehand. nobody else was in the shop. The man doing my nails finished in maybe 10 minutes flat. So I sat there while everyone else got the royal treatment for nearly an hour. We all paid for the same thing. Maybe he had a very bad day? read more

Honestly I'm so surprised by the ratings they currently have because this is one of the nicest places I've found in years. The space is beautiful, bright, and clean. The customer service has been so smooth. And the amount of care/ massage I received even with the basic pedicure was above what most places offer. He had to bucket out 3 gallons of water to get it cooled down vs just emptying the bowl. I wanted my nails done as well but after the shoddy pedicure I got, I was not spending the money. Has really gone downhill over the years. Came for a manicure, the manger (who's been there for 10+ years) did the removal of my fill was very rough, caught my skin or nail bed 4 times with the tool. Was hot on the nail bed that I had to pull my hand away. If after all these years he doesn't know what he's doing, he doesn't belong in the industry anymore. If smoking is you first priority, then please dont bother helping the shop. Took for days for the pain to subside from being burned by the dremil tool. Rushed doesn't give lasting results. My first red flag was when the employee's children were banging on the windows as I walked in and jumping on the chairs like a playground. I came in for a pedicure and there were no other customers there. The lady who did my pedicure rushed and used old supplies. She didn't smooth out the tops of my nails, and only put a hot towel on one of my legs. The paint came out nice but did end up on the skin around my nails. It cost $30 for a basic pedicure. Now let's talk about what was on the TV. For 20 minutes, Yanni played an electric keyboard with a band of hippies from the 80s. Then the YouTube playlist put on Kansas live in concert. Lastly, a woman sang the same screechy song on repeat 6 times. I thought I was going to go crazy! Had a mani/pedi on Saturday. First time there and I was impressed how clean and spacious the place was. I had to wait 10 minutes which was fine, but the minute I sat down I felt like my services were rushed. The owner's wife did my pedi/mani. She did not ask me if I wanted my toe nails trimmed, she did not put any hot towels on my lefts, and she did did not scrub my callous at all. She was running around trying to do other things in between my services. The water bowl for my mani was placed on the table 10 minutes before I went there. Also her son was playing soccer in the shop and also playing his tablet very loud. I will not go back there! read more

I came in on Saturday to get a cute set of Acrylic nails. They were supposed to have a simple black tip. I showed the owner what I wanted, he said he could do it. When I asked if I could get a little black line under the bigger line, he sent me to Tammy. I felt rushed and when I got home I was upset. I called and asked if I could get them removed they said I could Monday. After work, I went in and decided to get a French manicure. Tammy said it would be free. The next day, not even 24hrs later two of my nail's nails popped off. I went in on Tuesday to get them fixed. Today is Wednesday and another nail popped off. I've never had this happen and will never be coming back recommending this place. I am very upset and in total paid $73. read more

However, because I insisted on a "basic" and not upgrading to a deluxe; I received half of some services. Seriously... only one leg got the scrub. They took a reservation for a group of us and took us in immediately. The pedicure bath water was lukewarm. Friendly staff and 2 of us had a good outcome. I had 2 cuts (one bled well after I left) with no apology. One big toe nail was left with sharp corners; the other rounded. Looks like only one coat of polish though I suspect it was because of thinned color. Polish was caked into corners of toes so had to take remover to take it off; other toes were not straight. My daughter and I both had pedicures and manicures. They cut our toenails exactly opposite to the correct method. In order to prevent ingrown toenails, the nails should be cut straight across. Both of our nails were cut at deep angles into the side of the toes. My daughter's toe actually bleed, and they just kept on working. They didn't wait to stop the bleeding or to clean their hands. I have one large toe which is now painful, I am had to tuck a small bit of cotton on the sides, in hopes to prevent an ingrown toenail. We paid extra for Gel polish on our nails. My daughters polish peeled off 2 days later. The gel polish was put on too thick. I have pimples in my nail polish, because of the thickness of application. I will not be returning to Solar Nails. read more

I sent two friends from out of state to have their nails done from solar nails. They reported back nothing but terrible things about the service and the quality of the work. Months later, I decided to try solar nails out for myself. While getting a full set put on, the nail tech placed the extensions on crooked and flaring up. I had to ask to her to redo multiple nails. After she finished, I was completely disappointed to where I was a loss for words. I tried to go through with a pedicure but had to tell the newly assigned nail tech to remove the polish. She painted my nails with no regard for where she got the polish (which turned into an argument because she refused to take it off at first). I was forced to pay for my toes nails being filed (which they weren't) and the terrible nail job that I expressed my unhappiness. read more

Was there today and received both a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was great, but the manicure, on the other hand, was really disappointing. The technician never asked about the length or cut my nails so they're even, was really rough while cutting my cuticles, and the polish application was done so quickly and sloppily that I'm going to have to go home and clean it up myself. I understand that you do a million shellac manicures a day, but at least take some time with each one, especially with nobody waiting to get in. So much for an hour or two of pampering... No wonder Love and Emma Faye are so hard to get into. read more

My mom & I came in for pedicures. We were told it would be 15-20 min. No problem - we're walk-ins on a Saturday. After waiting 30, then being seated in the spa pedicure chairs we then had to wait another 30 with our feet in the water before anyone came back. Fine - it's busy. Still cutting them some slack. When the girl does start I notice her cuticle trimmers and the other instrument aren't peel packed. They're just wet from being rinsed. As I'm watching I notice NONE of the staff actually going to or using the sterilizer at all. GROSS. The actual nail work was fine but as my nails were drying I notice that all they do to 'clean' the pedicure tub is drain it & throw in another sterilizer tablet. No scrubbing, nothing. They charge an extra $5 for callous removal (always included at other places). Overall, thoroughly grossed out. Not coming here ever again. I wish there was an inspector for nail salons like there is for restaurants. No way this place would pass basic hygiene requirements. read more

I picked a one because I got the dip nail polish and that's supposed to least 2-3 weeks. And I got them done on a Saturday, and the following Monday my nail chipped. And then Wednesday came along and my thumb chipped because I hit is on a box( it should not have broken when I tapped it on a box). So from my 3rd time being there I wouldn't recommend going there because they aren't good quality nails. They don't know what they are doing. My sister and I went here after the place we usually go to was booked when we walked in nobody greeted us and when we told were seated I had to wait because my sisters nails were worked on first and then the nail tech alternated between working on my sisters nails and my nails (even though there were 2 other workers there, sitting at the end of the table on their phones) which made me feel like my time wasn't valuable because it was taking twice as long to get our nails done together and they didn't seem to care. The guy that did my nails criticized them because I'm a nailbiter and he didn't make me feel very good about that either. He also got distracted by the TV and burned me with the grinder and made me bleed twice. I don't go to get my nails done often so when I do I want to go to a place that makes it easy and comfortable, and makes me feel like I'm being tended too, which this place didn't. I am DONE with going here. I have been coming here for a few years and now it's time to move on. The women that work there are fine usually. The men are awful! They are rude and rush the service. My LAST experience was right before a wedding. I scheduled a pedicure the day before. When I walked in they looked like I was interrupting them. Basically the guy who did my pedicure was weird. He dropped a file on the floor and I swear he set it aside but then used it again on my feet. He wiped my cuticle skin on my leg and thought it was funny? Really? He cut my nails so short it looked like I was a 5 year old girl with short nails. It still bothers me how short he cut them-days later. I am disappointed and mad at the same time. I will never ever go back to this place. I very rarely get manicures but decided to stop In yesterday without an appointment with my sister. For a Saturday I thought we might have to wait but there were only 2 people getting manicures. 1 finished, my sister went first. These people are not very friendly. My turn next. A guy named Jonny called me over. I told him all I want is a manicure. Tried to almost force me to get a pedicure but said no. He immediately put one hand in a bowl of soap and got his utensils together. Now the torture began. He started to cut my nails with a TOE clipper. Very aggressively. Then started filing down my nails so roughly and fast that it hurt. I told him to be gentler please. He chose to ignore it. Barked his orders, and proceeded. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. Talk about feeling like I was part of a herd of cattle is an under statement. The place is very dirty. My last exposure of this place was my manicurist picking nose hairs or something in front of the mirror then blowing his nose and not even washing his hands!!! He went back to work. (this is the solar nails in the fox run shopping center) I walked in just wanting a polish change. when I was talking to some one who was sitting in a guest chair with an iPad playing some sort of gangnam style remix loudly, who seemed to be in charge, he asked me in a very thick accent if i wanted shellac, i couldn't understand him, so i said "what?" he responded by yelling it at me and giving me an angry look. I was then told buy another guy to "sit at number three" I sat down and waited not a very long time until a man came over to me and sat down. with out saying hello or even looking at me he grabbed my hands and started clipping my cuticles. then he got up and walked away, grabbed a bowl of water and mumbled something and motioned his hands going in the water. after sitting with my hands in the water for 5 minutes he came back and started to clip away hangnails and such. then gave me a 30 second each hand massage which wasn't very enjoyable with his long pointy thumb nails poking into my skin. he then said "go wash hands" and point in the general direction of the sinks. he polished me in under 5 minutes and then told me to "go sit under lamp" after a few minutes he came over and gave me my top coat and then he walked away without saying anything. I wouldn't have tipped at all, but my aunt said it was extremely rude not to tip no matter how rude they are to you. now a day later I can see he didn't cover the whole nail in polish and it is distracting. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants a good mani and a good experience. read more

My sister scheduled a mani/pedi for us for our trip to Mexico. I had never been to this salon and I had never heard any reviews. We were told that both treatments would only take 45-60 minutes altogether. I was in shock. My normal salon takes about 45 minutes for each service because they are extrememly thorough and give ample massages. Let's just say I'm less than pleased with their work. They never trimmed my cuticles or cut my nails down the side so I don't get hangnails. The man didn't even want to even out my nails so each were the same length. It's as if they just get the minimal job done to get money. I'm very disappointed. I have hangnails and cuticles after two days of having a manicure. I would not recommend this salon. read more

I have never before WALKED OUT on a manicure prior to my unfortunate encounter with Solar Nails of Waukesha! I happened upon this location early one Saturday morning and on a whim decided to pop in for a manicure. They had just opened but there were a couple of people in the back getting pedicures. I was the sole manicure client. After picking a color, I sat down with a male manicurist who asked me if I preferred rounded or squared nails. I responded "squared please." This is where the pleasantries would end. He proceeded to vigorously file my nails with the most abrasive emery board, pausing only to tap me on the hand and bark at me: "Relax!" Well, okay - I tried to relax my hand . . . I sat there thinking it had been awhile since I last had a manicure and maybe I was holding my hand too rigidly for him to able to do his thing. I soon recognized my folly as he moved on to the left hand and began his special brand of torture anew. Again he paused from the chainsaw-like action on my nails only to slap at my hand and bark at me to relax. I could no longer stay silent. I suggested that if he were to file with a bit less exuberance, I might not tense my hand in response. To which he replied "How am I supposed to file when you keep moving your finger?!" Outraged and befuddled by his treatment and his words, I yanked away my hand and told him I was leaving and exactly why - a manicure for me is an occasional indulgence, it should be pleasurable not punishment. First review I have written EVER and all I have to say is...this place should be shut down. I walked in and I swear you would think smoking was allowed in this facility, the smell was disgusting. I happened to look to my left where the "waiting room" is and saw that every single chair had stains on it. You couldn't pay me $100 to sit in one of those chairs. I made the mistake of stopping in because it was extremely close to my house and I was in desperate need of an eyebrow wax. When I told the guy what I needed, he angrily kept pointing for me to go to the back of the store. No one was there, so I hesitated because I was confused on exactly what he wanted from me. He then started yelling at me and just continued waving his hands. I finally went in the back and just stood there uncomfortably until a woman emerged from the back. She was nice enough, fast and furious. But when she handed me the mirror and asked "ok"? I was in the middle of telling her I still saw some hairs that were missed, but couldn't even finish two words and she was already up in the front behind the counter waiting for me to pay.
