34 panels installed on our house in Upland

Choosing Solargem was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time! Joe is informative, honest, and kind - and I couldn't recommend his business any more! I decided to go solar because our house is on the larger side and has 2 AC units. In the summer our electric bill was as high as $650, which for a family of two was insane. I decided to get several quotes on solar installation in order to make sure I got the most bang for my buck. During this process, Joe was very transparent about his pricing, which was important to me as price was a big factor for me. He gave me multiple options that influenced pricing vs output, and this was extremely helpful. We ended up settling on 34 Solaria panels, which would end up producing slightly more energy than we needed at the time and would give us enough room to expand in the future if needed. In the limbo phase between him giving us a quote and us choosing a company, Joe wasn't pushy at all - which we appreciated. While Solargem ended up being one of the cheaper options out of the roughly 8 companies I got quotes from, I mostly chose them because Joe gave me a very good gut feeling. The few times that I talked with Joe and got panel/panel size advice prior to choosing his company, I felt like I could honestly trust him - and that was huge for me. After finalizing the contract + $$$, we hit the ground running. He sent one of his workers to do some prep on our house (moving exhaust pipes in our attic/roof) and then scheduled the panel installation shortly thereafter. His crew were extremely professional, courteous, and did a phenomenal job on the installation. We were also impressed that the inverter that they installed (SolarEdge) had a cool little app that showed how much energy we were producing (and of course I looked at it every day in excitement). After our first full month of having the panels up (and our new time of use plan kicking in with SCE), I was pleased that our usage was $0!! While we still had to pay a very small service fee to Edison (~$20), I was happy that we were already starting to get a return on our investment (in November too!). Overall, Solargem met all of my expectations and more! We are so excited to be saving money and the environment!

Joe and his team from SolarGem did a great job on our solar install. I began my research into solar back in Aug 2015, after finding out what I exactly wanted and what kind of system I wanted to build I called around for a few quotes. Joe from SolarGem being one of the 6 quotes I got. While I didn't buy my equipment from Joe, they did the install on my system. From beginning to end, Joe and his team were very professional. We started our install on a Monday and Thursday, the system was up. By Friday, everything has wrapped up and inspection was complete waiting for SCE to give us the OK to operate. We also had SolarGem upgrade our service panel since our original one didn't meet the min requirement for solar and Joe gave us a very reasonable price for the upgrade. They also did everything to our discussed contract and at the end of the day, we were very satisfied with the job Joe and his team did. On a last note, one of the great thing that Joe and his team does that we appreciated very much was the daily updates. Since I was at work for the most of this installation. Joe called me every day after his team left to give me an update on what has happened and what to expect next. This we valued a lot since knowing what is going on and to expect goes a long way in customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Joe to anyone looking to install Solar. Joe also gave me some excellent advance along the way which help in the build of our system. We are roughly 20 days into our system going live with SCE and I have been keeping an eye on our daily usage. As of right now, we are at a net negative on our kWH and paying nothing for electricity. As time goes on, I will update the review on how our system is performing, but as of right now we are satisfied customers.

They were professional, clean, cordial, and the end result was exceptional. I am very pleased with the work performed and everyone that was involved. I hope highly recommend them especially since it's so hard to find a company that will still be around in years to come. My worry was that the installation may contribute to future leaks due to rain. I observed the installation process asking questions and am satisfied that I won't have any issues.

Because of that experience, we were very cautious when we decided to add more panels and reached out to several different companies. From the very beginning, HPM Solar stood out. They were easy to work with, communicated clearly, and consistently kept me informed about every step of the process. There were no surprises and no guessing about what was happening next. We were also extremely fortunate that an earlier installation slot opened up, allowing HPM to fit us in just in time to take advantage of the expiring tax credit -- something we truly appreciated. The installation crew was excellent: professional, efficient, and respectful of our property. They did great work and made sure everything was cleaned up before they left, which really showed their attention to detail and pride in their work. Overall, the entire solar process with HPM Solar was very smooth and stress-free, a complete contrast to our previous experience. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone considering solar.

Natasha was professional and very clear with communication from the start. She set proper expectations on communication with Tesla would take a week or two. The day she received the go ahead from Tesla she called and scheduled the install asap 4 days out. Later the same day they had a cancellation and were able to get everything scheduled the next day. Anthony and Jeremiah arrived at the beginning of the arrival window! They were professional, great with communication, and ready to work. I had several questions and they were prepared for all of them and super helpful. The battery removal and install took less than an hour. Naturally Tesla's update took twice as long. LOL. Still total time was under 3 hours. I have managed 100s of installers and worked in Solar, this was a fantastic expierence! Because the Tesla 3 has more storage than the 2 I asked about adding some of my Breakers to the back-up and they had options for us to do that. Obviously we Highly Recommend This Team!

Very disappointed with Option One Solar…read more My Tesla Powerwalls & panels aren't producing & storing energy like before & I set up an appointment with Tesla through their app but the next available appointment was Oct 1st?! This was late July when I set up a service call. An over 2 month wait?!? So I got in touch with Option One Solar, to have them service my solar equipment. Setting up the appointment was easy, people on their end booked an appointment for the following Monday & I was charged the service call fee of $500. Ok I guess, I need these Powerwalls & panels looked at & hopefully fixed sooner than the Oct 1 Tesla appointment. My electric bill was $226! Their service guy came out, I told him what was going on/not going on & he looked in the panels, ran diagnostics through his phones informing me that the panels were working, then not working, and working again. He called Tesla support (Tesla installed this system almost 5 years ago). So basically the Tesla support guy on the phone said that Tesla has to come out & look & repair the system since they were the ones that installed it. So there was nothing Option One Solar could do otherwise it would void my warranty. I'm sure Option One Solar is a good company but they really didn't do anything but made a phone call to Tesla to let me know there was nothing they could do & that I would just have to wait till Oct for my Tesla appointment. I understand that the guy came out to diagnose & troubleshoot the problems & yeah I should be charged for his time, but for $500? I called their office to tell them what happened & asked for at least a partial refund since no physical work was done. They said they would put it in their notes & inform the team members. I wish I knew to NOT call them & just waited & I would've saved $500. I reread the contract & yeah it is stated clearly how much their fee is to come & look & troubleshoot & diagnose but that was an expensive phone call to Tesla for them to tell me, sorry you gotta wait, there's nothing we can do. I won't be calling them for any solar services, this experience wasn't a good one for me.

Dan later answered additional questions I had then adjusted quote. The installer, Carlos, looked at the actual site conditions then discussed various options (like spacing of posts, how far to set posts from edge of patio cover, where to put downspouts, etc.) with me beforehand. Every day, Carlos would keep me updated as to the work being done. Their electrical, Mike, installed the lights, outlets and controller exactly where(& how) I wanted them. It was not some "cookie cutter" install off a pre-set plan. Things were installed the way my family & I wanted. Brittany in office kept me updated on permitting process, scheduling, inspection, etc. Initially had company install a pair of attached to house, solid (& insulated) patio covers (at kitchen & by living room). Family was so pleased with finished patio covers that we had Rooms come back and install a 24' x 13' standalone, solid, insulated patio covers outside bedrooms. Carlos made all 3 patio covers blend together. Mike wired all the lights (8 in the initial patio covers & 8 more in the standalone patio cover) so that all are controlled be a single dimmer switch. Needed to have some concrete work done under the patio covers and nearby. Rooms' recommended concrete people, James Austin Concrete, did excellent work and coordinated with Rooms for minimum disruption to patio installations. Initially called 6 companies (all local 4 star+ on yelp) for quotes. Rooms was 1 of 2 that was willing to go through the permitting process with the City. A 3rd wouldn't give me a quote because I wanted the patio covers to be permitted. The other 3 companies said that because the existing wood, open lattice patio covers had been permitted (in 1989), a new permit was not needed. Don't believe them. Big difference between open lattice wood patio covers and solid, Alumun patio cover. Plus requirements change over time. Turned out that the required dimensions for the posts' concrete footings almost doubled in size (in all 3 directions). Getting a permit means everything is built to meet City requirements. Only downside is long wait (13+ weeks) for City to approve each of the 2 permits. Several neighbors have already asked about Rooms. Even the city's building inspector asked for Rooms contact info. He wants a patio cover(s) for his place and was impressed by the work Rooms did for mine.

Kip, the installer, is a rock star! He did all the work by himself, and finished it in 3 days. A great guy to have work at your home. Can't recommend them enough.
