New to Solidcore and loving it. The coaches are so friendly and the workout is worth it!

I started going to Solidcore in April and have become a true addict. I considered myself an in shape person and just as the disclaimer suggests, Solidcore keeps you honest about your level of fitness. You will see results even if you go only once a week. I've been to 2 classes at solidcore now and it is definitely challenging! I work out on a regular basis but I like how it is very different. However, I would say that the instructors I've had haven't been the nicest. They seem to be concerned with getting through the class and moves as fast as possible and it is very confusing using the machine in the beginning. A lot of the moves aren't explained so you spend half the time figuring out what you should be doing. No one asked me if I had been to solidcore before (at the Old town studio). I also found it very weird that they don't stretch after class. For $37 a class, I expect to at least stretch out after like all of the other boutique studios. Overall, I would definitely go back but only if it comes on Class Pass. read more

I never post on yelp but... [solidcore] is the best workout in town! It challenges you in different ways every time and it never gets easy which means it never gets boring! Which has been a problem for me with many other workout series. You can see changes in your body after only a few weeks which is amazing in only 50 minutes per class. I started with one class a week and never thought I would be able to do more and now I'm up to four! In addition to the amazing workout, the community of people that show up every week is amazing! Everyone is so nice and encouraging and the coaches kick butt! The coaches really get to know you and are always super upbeat! I never had a coach I didn't like! The only downside it is expensive but they often offer deals through social media or challenges where you can earn a discount. Plus it is hard to stop going when you're seeing such great results! I chose this gym because I live close by. It's priced like most gyms in the area.. expensive (4stars).That said, I enjoy group classes vs working out alone.The instructors are great at encouraging everyone throughout class. It's an intense workout! I've only gone to a few classes but I'm optimistic that I will conquer the moves and become strong. read more

I took a class at Solidcore Old Town while visiting the DC area. I was pleasantly surprised by the workout. It was really accessible (I was a first time client), and everyone was so friendly. There were only 11 people in the that class i attended, and I felt like I got the personal attention I needed to make it a good workout. The music and instructor's enthusiasm were also super upbeat. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great workout! Wish we had it in Boston! read more

To give you guys some more information, here's why I gave Solidcore such a strong review: (1) This is a woman-owned business that has carefully thought through how to get clients the results they want, (2) I love their intro video on the website, (3) it's great that they take injuries into account (no pain, no gain is stupid), and (4) most importantly, the workouts have gotten me where I want to be in terms of toning and fat burning. I began my [love] of Solidcore last September in DC. I'm so happy that Solidcore is now in Virginia! The team at the Old Town studio is awesome, especially Julie my favorite coach! Words cannot describe how much I love [solidcore]. It has not only made me physically stronger but mentally as well. No matter what kind of day I have had good or bad as soon as I hop on that machine and meet the machine buddies next to me my mood is instantly better. I consistently leave the studio smiling from ear to ear knowing that I gave it my all for 50 minutes. No matter which location I go the people are amazing however, I [LOVE] the people I have met and the relationships I have formed at my home location in Old Town. I was super disappointed. I went in asking about how to do this with a recovering shoulder injury and was assured my instructor would adjust me and she didn't - even once - in the beginner course. I had met with the manager a day ahead of time to go over my needs and also showed up early as recommended for the beginner class. The whole time I was adjusting and moving on the machine with no clue what I was doing wrong and I was super uncomfortable. Every position except standing caused me pain and the positions felt wrong. Here is the most frustrating part. The instructor was incompetent enough to put the spring setting high during the upper body section (seriously?!) after we had had a long conversation about my shoulder injury at the start of class ! Why would you do that? That seriously risks injury. What an irresponsible thing to do. I had to tell her to adjust it down to a way easier setting. I'm not sure what the hype is about this studio. read more

It's been a little over two months since I started Solidcore and it's been nothing short of AMAZING. To find something that does not aggravate my back, is fun and continually challenges is a very difficult find and Solidcore delivers. Yes, I was tremendously overwhelmed during the first session (i.e. it was tough to follow the instructor's queue, the music was loud even during the machine demo, I didn't feel like I received much hand's on assistance before, during or after, etc), hit muscle failure at the five minute mark (with 45 minutes to go) and wasn't sure if this was for me. "Are we there yet?," "Good heavens, am I going to make it?" and "You want me to do what? Now how in the world am I to get into that?" were frequent thoughts in my head. I don't think I have ever been so happy to be finished with a session in my life. I was out cold for 2.5 hours pretty much immediately after class and was sore for two days after. Laughing the next day hurt. No Facebook funnies for me that day. The supportive emails sent before and after my first session were very much open to feedback, encouraging and sought to set reasonable expectations. They also knew that getting started was challenging enough, so offered incentive discounts to continue. Those emails helped me gather my strength for another go at this. I'm glad I did. Throughout my two months with Solidcore I have found instructors that I do not want to go a week without having a class with. These highly motivating ladies range from not letting me give in, talking smack about the bungee (awesome, awesome quote from that incredible instructor) and interacting with my sweaty body to help me improve and/or push myself. I feel much stronger and can visibly see changes in my mid-section and caboose, which is a first in my entire adult life pursuing health and fitness. I feel AMAZING!! I now walk out of class thinking, "I got me some shakes. That was insane. Let's go again!" For newbies, I highly recommend either reaching out to Solidcore, reading the instructor bios or reaching out to one of the current Solidcore junkies on advice on which instructors are best for first timers. If all else fails, the Solidcore studio manager is a likely excellent choice to take a first class with. Also, don't be shy about following the lead of other class-mates as you will find them encouraging and supportive. On a final note, it kills me on the postings of how expensive Solidcore is. For me, having back and balance challenges, nothing comes close to what I get with Solidcore. And, doing the math, Solidcore is at or under what I've found in the DC area. For example, at my prior gym, it was $314.08/month which gave me one small group session a week and unlimited AfterBurn classes. Assuming a four week month, one small group session a week and two large group sessions a week, I averaged a little over $26 per visit. With Solidcore, you can secure a $299/month unlimited package, which at the same three visits a week puts you at just shy of $25 per visit. I do apologize in advance to any rate increase in the future as I am now a Solidcore junkie and find myself there at least four times a week ($19/visit) if not five times per week ($15/visit) - so I may be "breaking the bank." There are also off-peak classes/packages that can get you $24.75/class and larger bundle packages that help bring the rate down a bit from the single class full rate. Do keep your eyes peeled on specials. I was likely one of the lucky few who saw a discount made available on Facebook earlier this year, so was able to leverage that as I figured out what Solidcore weekly session balance was best for me. A friend told me to try this class out in February at the Ballston location and I loved it. I was sore for the whole week following the class but the sticker price was hard to swallow. I have a wedding in June and thought I could get to my goal sculpt/tone without solidcore. After weeks of other workout classes that were not cutting it I went back for two more classes to solidcore and I'm sold! if you want guaranteed results it is going to cost you but your body will thank you later and its the best thing you can do for yourself in just 50 minutes. I'm a marathon runner that tends to get re-occurring injuries from lack of strength and all my other workout classes were just not cutting it. Even if you are not in shape this class is fitting for all levels as you will get the necessary attention at this location for all the help you need to reach your goal! I especially love this newer location and the energy of the instructors. If you are still on the fence about trying out solidcore don't let the sticker price or the medathology scare you away you have to take this class at least once to rule it out and your first class is only $19! I don't rate things often but I couldn't help but highlight this business because I feel as though its one of those best kept secrets that I want to tell everyone about!!!! read more

I've been coming to Solidcore since it opened. It's one of the toughest workouts I've done, and I've done everything from crossfit to barre. The workout can be intimidating at first, but the instructors are great about showing modifications and making sure that you have the correct form so you don't get hurt. Already in just a few weeks, I can tell I'm getting stronger but the classes are definitely not getting easier. I love the variety and intensity. I highly recommend this class! read more

Solidcore is the hardest all over body workout you can do. You use your own body weight and a supereformer machine to break down your muscles. The coaches throw you in to really advanced moves from day 1, but they are really nice. The studio is really clean and welcoming. read more

When I moved from DC, I was glad to see Solidcore was about to open near our new house in Old Town. It's a great location with easy (and free!) parking in the Belle Pre complex. Solidcore is definitely addicting and gives you an amazing workout in 50 minutes. It's been really great to see how much stronger I've become since starting (off and on) since November and much more regularly since March - especially my arms! The coaches (shout out to Julie, Lucy and Meg!) each bring something unique to class and genuinely care about making sure you're in the correct form and are doing everything to protect your lower back and knees through modifications. I started [solidcore] in October of last year. I had been watching football across the street and after I left I walked by the window and it peaked my interest. I gave it a try and was hooked! It had been years since I had done a workout and left feeling exhausted. Now most people might think that sounds awful but for me it's a great feeling of accomplishment. I usually go once a week or more if there is time. The coaches are great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to work hard and switch up their routine. I'm 10 years old. My mom is 45 this month. The only thing she wants for her birthday is more Solidcore classes. She has been doing it for about a year and she is stronger than ever before. I've seen her do a Solidcore class and she inspires me to work harder, get stronger, stay motivated, be joyful--all attributes of the Solidcore workout and supportive group mentality. Solidcore is fantastic. For those of you that like to challenge yourself and see how far you can push yourself during a workout, this is for you! Though during the workout, I find myself questioning my decision to go, I always leave Solidcore feeling stronger, both mentally and physically. I admit, I was skeptical when the website said this would be the hardest workout you would ever do, but man, were they right. And I work out a lot; I'm a runner and a soccer player, and Solidcore is an incredible complement to those activities. It focuses so intensely on areas like your abs, triceps, obliques and legs, that when you walk out of a class, it feels like you just ran 5 miles and then did an hour long strength training session. And the best part is the instructors; when you feel like you have nothing left to give, they ask for one more rep or 10 more seconds, and you somehow manage to do it. Julie on Wednesday mornings is fantastic! It's a little expensive for me to do more than once a week, but even that has made a huge difference, and I can see improvement in my movements and strength. Plus, you have to sign up beforehand, and if you don't cancel 12 hours before, you are charged anyway; let me tell you, that certainly motivates you to get out of bed at 5:30/6:30am! The facility itself is really nice, with clean bathrooms, a nice waiting area, and everyone cleans their machine after use. I highly recommend coming by and checking it out if you're up for a challenge! read more

Solidcore is a difficult workout, to say the least, but the results are unmistakable. If you stick with it, you'll transform yourself. Every coach is superior to others I've had in other settings--I've had a lot of different coaches and they are all a little different but they are all serious about their work and they give 100% every time. This is a well-organized business and I can see why it keeps expanding and why classes are full. Do this workout, stick with it, and you'll really notice how strong you're getting and how defined your muscles are getting. Also, I've noticed I have much more endurance in all of my other workouts, like running and boxing. The routine is not only very effective, but there is little chance for injury and the coaches constantly watch and instruct you on how to avoid injuries and they keep you motivated to push yourself to muscle failure. I used to do Crossfit and had to keep up with all of my injuries--in fact, I'm still injured from Crossfit but slowly recovering through Solidcore. For me, Solidcore is much more effective than Crossfit (granted, the two styles have little in common) with no injuries and I've been doing it for over half a year now...twice a week. It's amazing. YOU WILL FEEL every muscle in your body the next day. Rough going, but worth every bit of the effort you put into it. read more

Meg is an amazing coach. At 5-0, I've never felt stronger in my life. Truly a transforming workout like no other.
