Hello all, I am the daughter of this family business. After noticing a fake review from "Reach S" on both yelp and google, I have decided to step in. First, "Reach S" left a review on google that noted a male receptionist when we have a female receptionist working on the day they referenced. Second, "Reach S" has only two reviews ever on their account...one on Google and one on Yelp and both are for Solo Classic? Suspicious to say the least. Not to mention their location is located precisely where one of our competitors is based! After being open for over twenty years, I have witnessed my family's business grow from the ground up first hand. I have also witnessed the underhanded and dirty practices that neighboring companies have taken, including harassing me personally when I was working at my family's store in high school. It is amazing that after so many years, competitors are continuing to attack our family business rather than standing by their product and offering quality instruments and services. It has taken a village (literally) to build Solo Classic, we have founded orchestras in schools that didn't have them before, we have quite literally built the store and website(s) together as a family, and we continue to treat all of our customers and students like a part of that family. Enough with the fake comments. It is a shame that people mostly post reviews when they are upset/a fake competitor rather than when they are satisfied with products/services, but regardless, Solo will keep the music playing. Our experience with Solo Classic Music School in Buffalo Grove, IL, has been absolutely fantastic! Both of my children, one learning piano and the other violin, attended lessons during the 2023-2024 school year, and they couldn't have been happier. The teachers, Inna and Fabian, are exceptional. Their dedication, patience, and passion for music have truly inspired my kids. It's been a joy to see my children grow and develop their musical talents under their expert guidance. The school also offers convenient services such as renting string instruments and providing tuning when needed, which has been incredibly helpful. The owners, Dani and Roman, have created a warm and welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home. Additionally, Lana at the front desk is always friendly and accommodating, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. I highly recommend Solo Classic Music School for any parents looking to nurture their children's musical abilities. Solo Classic is a friendly family business that seems to be open 24/7. The owner is always happy to help and available any time. I dont know any other business that can fix a rental instrument in less than an hour. Also, it helps that they have such low prices and a repair center right in the shop. You also build credit with them by renting which gets you a huge discount by the time your kids are ready to buy an instrument. Dani, the owner, always makes me laugh and my daughter loves her. My daughter began violin lessons at Solo classic in 2010 when she was 9. After just 3 years, she is now playing advanced music and we are already excited for her college, and hopefully professional, music career afterwards. She adores her teacher at Solo Classic. My only complaint is that it's hard to get her to leave after lessons because she loves it so much! :) Highly recommend for any children interested in starting music education and parents who are looking for a affordable instruments!!! read more

Solo Classic is a treasure. Roumen is a master luthier and extremely knowledgable about everything concerning wood and instrument making. It is incredible to have a maker like this in our community. We have been renting for 6 years and after my daughter got into her school's top orchestra, we decided to finally purchase one of Roumen's instruments. Dani, Roumen's wife, reminded us that we could use our rental credit (we have been renting violin and cello for many years with them) in order to get a better price---such honest service! We couldn't be more thrilled with the violin and my daughter's conductor himself could not believe the rich sound of her violin. We are still renting our son's cello from them and even though it is a rental, it still has a wonderful sound because Roumen personally adjusts all of his instruments. read more

Last year my 4th grade daughter decided she wanted to join orchestra. I have no musical background and just happened to hear about Solo Classic. Normally, I am a person who shops around but Dani helped her pick an instrument and everything else that was needed, she made us feel comfortable with her choice and I saw no reason to go anywhere else. This seems to be a family business who are in the business for the love of what they do. Dani was warm and friendly and took time to help us. Solo Classic is a wonderful family business that truly cares about their customers. I came here with my son about a year ago for lessons and we just recently purchased one of Roumen's handmade instruments. We have a friend who plays for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and he couldn't believe the quality of the instrument and the sound--it seems like it was made 100 years ago! Dani was so kind and helpful during the selection process, we didn't feel pushed in any way and they even recommended some other violin shops in the Chicago area for violins to compare and find what was right for us, but we just kept returning to Roumen's violin. read more

This is a hardworking family business and it shows in their treatment of their clients and their products. Roumen is a string instrument maker and gave me a demonstration while my child was taking lessons. He also fixed her instrument and showed me his process. It's the small things like that, which make me grateful that small businesses like this still exist! He also explained that all of his rentals are personally adjusted, so they sound better than just your average rental. It's amazing that he cares that much about his product. Love Solo Classic! You can't beat the prices and their instruments, even rental, are impeccable. On top of it all, they go above and beyond to provide the best service possible. I wish all businesses were like Solo, you really feel like they care about you and your family. It isn't just about money. We purchased one of the most beautiful violins recently and have since brought it around some serious musicians around Chicago and they are beyond impressed with the quality. I have been a student at Solo Classic for many years and it pains me to move to California for college! I love my teacher, Sonia, so much! I could always rely on the staff for last minute repairs or adjustments for my violin. There is an in-house violin/viola/cello/bass certified maker! After renting for so many years, I actually purchased one of his violins (graduation gift) and i never stop receiving compliments on the tonality of the instruments- Roumen is a true artist. P.S. This store provides excellent service and the quality of their instruments (rental and for sale) cannot be matched. After renting for a few years, I purchased a full size violin (made by Roumen, the in-house string maker) for my daughter and she couldn't be happier with the sound. The instrument is purely a work of art. Dani, Roumen's wife and store manager, is the warmest person you'll ever meet. Just rented a cello and violin from Solo Classic and was super happy with the overall experience. We called to compare with another company nearby-- their lower prices are for "silver grade" instruments (not sure what that even means) and we had to call them to get the real price of "orchestra level" instruments--shouldn't all instruments be orchestra level if we are renting for the school orchestra? Ends up costing you more after you add everything up for a standard instrument too...Solo's prices are clearly better and straightforward too. read more

I wrote a google review and had to write a yelp as well, because I am so happy with the service! We have been renting with solo for 2 years now and came in today to rent a violin for my son. They always make the process so easy for us. The instruments are very high quality, but also cost effective for my beginner son. Roumen is a true craftsman and even showed my son a 200 year old violin he is currently restoring and explained the history of the instrument. You just don't see businesses like this anymore that take such great care. read more

Having just relocated to the area, we decided to rent a cello from Dani and Roumen, and the experience has been exceptional. Their attentiveness and care really stood out to us. They allowed our daughter to test several cellos and even provided a private practice room so she could play each one comfortably. Rental prices are cheap compared to other shops I have looked at and there is always a special going on around the start of the school year (1 month free). After looking around for deals, I picked Solo because of their friendly service, availability, and excellent accommodation. We love Solo! They have very flexible work hours and are always available for last minute string replacement and instrument touch ups. You cannot compare the European quality instruments with such great prices anywhere else--the sound of our cello sound is incredible. This please is great...very professional service. My two kids are taking violin and piano lessons; great teachers. Several times a year they participate in the store's concerts...fun time for parents and kids. I would definitely recommend it to others for string rentals and music lessons. read more
