I have been curious about this place ever since I moved into the area back in November of 2014. I pass this spot every time I go to Sam's Club, and today I decided to go in and get some lilies while I waited for my tires to be repaired. I'm sure glad I did! The family that runs this shop starts their plants early and takes great care of them until frost late into the year. For the customer, that means huge, flowering plants and sprawling tomato vines full of fruit- much bigger than you can get at any chain store market. You don't have to worry about the plants being too large to transport, because Horcher's offers delivery for a small fee. The shop also sells produce at local farmers markets on the weekends (Wheeling, Mundelein) which the owner's children assist with. They deliver gravel and offer landscaping, to boot. Very nice folks with a good range of product as well as some antiques for sale. read more

I was interested in going the DIY route for my floral arrangements. I did florals for my wedding here and was delightfully surprised by the quality and price. Flowers were not a top priority for me, but I wanted to have live flowers for bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I didn't come in with a detailed picture in my mind of what I wanted, but I had a general color scheme and I knew I wanted to keep prices as low as possible. They were able to work with me to get everything I needed for significantly less than anywhere else. I did not feel judged at all for wanting to keep things affordable. Everything was put together the morning of the wedding, so I did not get to see them until I arrived at the venue. They were incredible! Without doing anything special, my bouquet was still looking good a week after the wedding. The only "negative" was that some of the boutonniere roses were a little too big for my tastes. I also learned that the pollen from lilies can stain white dresses, oops! But overall, great flowers with great service and prices. read more

They sold me a dead Frasier fir Christmas tree that would not take water. They cut a sliver from the trunk before we loaded it and I put it in the water in less than an hour. Next morning when I realized it did not take any water, I cut a few inches off the trunk myself in a hope it would help, not when the tree was already dead. Later I learned that Frasier fir would did not look dead or loose needles at the lot, but there are ways to tell, and they of course knew but still peddled them to unsuspecting customers at a premium price. Dishonest business that costed me time, effort and most importantly robbed me and my family of the precious holiday experience. read more

After a few disappointing experiences with local florists and some of the big, online florists, I am so glad I found Horcher's. I ordered flowers over the phone, which made me a bit uneasy because I really couldn't pick what I wanted as you can with ordering online. I just asked them to make something bright and cheery for Mother's day. The flowers are beautiful, and my mom is thrilled. She went on and on about how nice the man who delivered them was. We recently used Pat and Horcher farms for our sons wedding and he was awesome! Such a easy to work with laid back guy who knows everything about flowers and did an amazing job with the bouquets as well as the table decorations! It is a no frills operation which is great as he doesn't have to pass on any extra expenses! We felt like we probably paid about half as much as a fancy florist might charge and got exactly what we had talked about and envisioned! It was like working with a long time friend or neighbor and results looked like a fancy downtown florist! a win/win for everyone! I loved the relaxed approached. I'm sure they have plenty to do but you'd never know by all the time they are willing to spend answering questions. Their spring flowers are as hardy as they come. They grow them there on the farm and that's probably why the plants are so much healthier than plants puchased at other places. All that aside; the real reason I'm taking the time to let others benifit from my experience is the florist part of the farm. Because of the quality of all past purchases and their time spent on me, I decided I'd give them a shot at my daughters engagement party. BEST MOVE EVER. Way out there creativity. Very nice place! I was driving by this farm for years, and finally stepped by the other week to buy some hanging flower baskets. No one in the area sells them anymore and Horcher still has them, and for the great price, too! Flowers were beautiful! I was pleasantly surprised as it's run by an owner himself. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and fun ! It goes a long way for me as it has a nice family feel, not commercialized as other farms in the area. Now I also found out they are selling freshly cut flowers for bouquets so I'm definitely going back there tomorrow! :) And for the service and quality product they have, who cares if their parking lot is not the best (referring to the other review ) ! read more
