I've been obsessed with succulents and wished I had found out about this place first before I went…read moreand bought succulents from other places. They have a nice variety of succulents (and cacti) both in individual cuttings/chicks with prices as low as $2-3 to nicely arranged potted succulents (for gifting etc). It was really important for me that they had individually potted succulents because I was DIYing my own succulent pots/terrariums. The best part was that this was the only place that didn't have any signs of pests of disease on their succulents. No spider mites webbing, no gnat flies. The sempervivums I brought home are still pest and disease free a month later. And trust me, I learned the hard way. I'm still paying for it.. damn mites/flies!!! And they actually have little genus/species tags for each of their plants, I love that, a lot of other places I went to didn't bother identifying their succulents. The people were really nice on the phone, didn't sound rushed or anything. in person, they were just as sweet, I could tell they liked what they were doing and had fun talking about what they knew about particular plants. The place was clean too and nicely arranged. Just really a nicely kept nursery.

Perennial Connection abandoned our job and stopped responding to us…read more John Hod charmed us with his personality at first. We hired him in October 2018 to restore and modify our existing retaining wall. Soon after, he bait and switched us with another contractor, Mike Masciarelli, aka: Randy on Call. To this day I have never met Mike. Mike was supposed to be the "communicator" and "project manager" while John would be the mason. 6 months later the job is less than half done and both John and Mike have been MIA for over two weeks at this point. In fact, there are parts of our existing retaining wall that are in worse shape than before we hired Perennial Connection. John demolished some portions for upgrading and they currently remain demolished because they never returned. Throughout these past 6 months of torture John and Mike would go days - even a week plus - without responding. Then a text would appear: "sorry we'll be there tomorrow" to tide us over. Then they would fail to show up again. John and Mike are also poor at taking direction and/or poor masons. I'm a designer myself so was able to provide very detailed drawings of what we wanted. The little work that they did do wasn't what we spec'd and it was sloppy. The lack of communication and attention to detail is astounding. DO NOT hire these people. They will more than disappoint you. They will torture your mind and steal your money without delivering what they promise.

Sent our proposal which was accepted immediately on a Thursday and they were here the following Monday to begin. Very knowledgeable about plants, trees, Flowers, bushel, etc. they ended up working with my neighbor as well. Thank you Perennial!!

We have seen their previous project at the Old Oak Dojo and really liked the idea of a functional landscape that meet aesthetic purpose, yield edibles as well as fitting in the native eco system. Noah is very knowledgeable of different plants and flowers so conversation with him has always been very educational for us amateur gardeners. He has also been very accommodating from the consultation. He listened to our needs and concerns before coming up with a customized plan that fits our property and budget. The project includes a low dry-stack retaining wall, plants that would help stabilizing the soils since we live on a hill, perennial flowers/plants that support each other and blooms at different time, and irrigation etc. The installation was under a short deadline so that we can have our wish of throwing a post-wedding party in our yard. Noah, Cheryl, and Karen moved very efficiently and accomplished the project before the deadline and within budget. The project also includes post-installation maintenance as the first year is crucial for the garden to survive. We are very happy to find Restoring Roots and will definitely consider using them for future projects.

We bought a condo in the Woodburne neigborhood of Jamaica Plain a year ago. One of our first…read morepriorties after we moved in was to deal with the backyard landscape, which consisted of some scraggly grass patches and a few hostas. There wasn't a lot of space to work with but I was sure that a little patio would fit between the house and the garage. I started contacting landscape design and build firms in March 2015. Most larger firms were already booked for spring, and when a couple of firms came out in June, they indicated that our job was too small for them to consider. Our realtor recommended Restoring Roots. From the first visit Karen was enthusiastic about the possibilities for our little space. She listened to our concerns and needs--one of the biggest concerns being that as new home owners facing a lot of projects, we wanted to consider a design plan that we could implement in stages. Karen came back to us with a detailed and comprehensive plan for our little space. After multiple negotiations with our condo association, we decided to move ahead with the patio construction in the fall and put the planting and construction of a sitting wall on hold until Spring. The bluestone patio was completed right before Thanksgiving. We are very impressed with the quality of the work and we think the patio looks great! We hope to have Restoring Roots back in the Spring for the next phase of the project.

As a first time homeowner I really appreciated how knowledgeable Jon was and he answered all my questions patiently, I had a lot since we had some dead patches from the previous company. We are in the process of replacing our sewer line and began working with Jon to discuss landscaping…read moreoptions after the sewer line replacement was done. From the start, it was clear that Jon is more than just a landscaper. He took an active role in all aspects of this project beginning with the sewer line. He was present when All Drain came to scope the sewer line so he could understand what part of the line was compromised. He actually identified that the problem was bigger than the sewer line, and involved a significantly leaking water line. He then helped coordinate the excavation and replacement of the sewer and water lines with a sub-contractor that he respected- Joe Vara. We felt so taken care of - Jon and Joe were making sure everything was done correctly. They were both accessible, great communicators, smart, with a really great work ethic. Overall, Jon has been incredible to work with. While this review is not about the landscaping (I'll update after the work is done) I've been so impressed with Jon that I felt I should share my experience. It's very rare to come across someone who takes such pride in their work.
