I was referred to Solutions Physical Therapy by my doctor for pain in my lower back and my right leg going numb. I have never had physical therapy before and didn't know what to expect. Keith at Solutions has helped me on two different occasions and both times, he has used manual therapy incorporated into his physical therapy to help the process of healing. I have successfully been able to avoid surgery thus far and I am very grateful for him equipping me with the exercises and tools I need to not just feel better but to get better. I found my way to Solutions Therapy after having a full knee replacement surgery in Conway. Being from Montana and choosing to have my surgery and rehab here, was prompted by referrals and the fact that I have family here to support me. Prior to my surgery, I interviewed and toured different facilities and gave thanks daily that I chose Solutions and Keith Johnson. What made the initial impact for me was the statement "hands on therapy". Having this surgery was a very traumatic and painful experience and going into physical therapy three days after surgery was overwhelming to say the least. From Day 1, he and his assistant, Meghan, made me feel comfortable, safe and that I would not be alone in this journey. Keith not only provided the "physical" therapy that was required to get me back on my feet, but provided emotional therapy as well. This is not the kind of rehab you go into and not cry, get angry and feel that you will never, ever be the same again. Each positive gain was met with celebration by all! I was scheduled for three sessions a week, Monday being met with such pain and resistance, only to be rejuvenated when walking out the door. My last session was December 28 and walking out for the last time was very bittersweet. People find themselves in physical therapy for many different reasons, but my journey was my own personal journey. I know that I would not be where I am today, physically or mentally, without the hard work, care, concern, encouragement and humor that was provided to me these past six weeks. When I first started I was very limited with what I could do but after 10 treatments my improvement was at least 90%. Keith is an amazing physical therapist. His evaluation of my problem included knowing what I was doing prior to my problem and then setting goals so I could return to those activities. He is thorough, knowledgeable and explains all aspects of the therapy, from what it is supposed to do to how it will help in relieving the problem. His use of massage enhanced the therapy and I believe allowed me to heal more quickly. I have been to other therapists in the past, but not anymore. Keith will be the only one for me. In order to understand why Solutions is so good, I need to explain why I ended up there. I have been to three PT places in Jonesboro in the last year for the same lingering back/nerve issues. I started at NEA Baptist where the gentleman's name was Ivan and he was very interested in helping me, I do believe he gave his best effort to hep me but his secretary/scheduler kept double booking me and she claimed that was common practice so I never received the attention I needed. Then I was recommended to St Bernards PT at their Wellness Center. They have a heated therapy pool which initially helped tremendously but once I was ready to move to the next step I had trouble getting them to do the prescribed traction therapy and they just wanted me to ride the stationary bike mostly. I also only saw the real therapist once, it was always his assistant. I continued the water therapy on my on and still do it to this day but my back issues had worsened after my therapy sessions ran out. Went back to Carrie Wells to see what to do about the muscle spasms and pain and she gave me a nerve conduction test, long story short we searched together for an answer to my issues and came up with the decision to use Keith Johnson at Solutions PT. He doesn't use an assistant and has the most thorough process you could ever imagine to determine what was really wrong and create a customized plan to heal me so I could go back to work and a normal life. His questionnaire/pre screen process is long is long and not enjoyable but boy am I glad I did it. My first appointment lasted two hours and never was his attention on anything but my situation. He compared all the data I gave him to the data from millions of others with similar issues and then did a bunch of strength, flexibility, and pain tests to make sure he knew just how to customize a plan for me. After the other two places I went, I was totally shocked at how different this was. He not only did all the stretching I needed himself, but explained every step of the way why and what the benefit would be. After that, he did hands on massage therapy to the area of my spine that causes me issues. Literally messaging each spot until the pain was down to almost nothing. He recorded my responses to all of his tests and questions as we went along so we could keep track of how much I do or don't improve from each type of therapy and each visit. He layed out a six week plan and said two things that really made me feel like I was in the right place. He said, If you don't show improvement in two weeks, I will not bill your insurance anymore. He also said if he can't fix my issue in six weeks that he will not see me again and will find me someone who will. This is of course contingent on me doing the exercises he prescribes on my own and showing up for therapy willing to participate. It was really nice to have someone actually listen and take pride in finding a way to get me well. The last thing we did was use electric stimulation therapy so I would not be too sore from all the work we put in. I felt so good that two hours later I went to the heated pool to work out again. I will update this as my therapy continues. Trust me if he didn't wildly stand out from his competition, I would not write all of this. I do not know him from Adam other than a phone call and this first session. read more
