History

Established in 2013.

Solutions Psychological Services strives to offer services to Northern Alberta. Being based in Grande Prairie and having a good working knowledge of Northern Alberta and the specific challenges facing agencies and individuals of the North is kept in mind when services are offered. The director has grown up in Northern Alberta and is dedicated to enriching the psychological services in the area. Specialty areas for the practice can be broken down into both specialties for therapy and specialties of assessments provided. As for therapy, the director, Shirley Karseboom, is a registered psychologist and a certified trauma specialist with expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Techniques and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) both considered the gold standards for trauma treatment. Meet the Business Owner: Dr Shirley K.

Dr. Karseboom completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. She has been a registered psychologist since 2007 in the province of Alberta and is qualified as an expert in Alberta Family Court in Parenting/Psychological Assessments and Drug/Alcohol Addictions. Dr. Karseboom's background includes work with both children/adolescents and adults in residential treatment for addictions, outpatient counseling in clinical and school settings for mild to severe emotional, behavioral, or mental issues, and psycholegal/forensic assessments in private practices, and for Correctional Services Canada. A particular interest and specialty of hers is trauma work. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and uses an integrated approach to her therapeutic work.
