Avoid. I went based on the great reviews on other sites but I should've checked deeper. Those great reviews are 5+ yrs old. If you're going for a Green Peel. Skip it. I Went for a Green Peel which I've had done multiple times over the yrs. It's hands down my favorite peel. The results were always stunning, revealing new skin free of scars and hyperpigmentation in one treatment. That was not the case with this one. This was my first tand last time at this spa. This is the worst peel I've ever had performed. I didn't peel because the peel was not massaged deep into the skin to make any kind of difference. No sensitivity, no sensation of a thousand little cactus prickles under the skin which indicates a good peel. Skin should look shiny but feel rough as if needles were stuck in it. I knew by day 2 the results would be disappointing. Day 5 I returned to have whatever skin peeled to be removed. I was stuck outside for 20 minutes. No one would let me in. And when I got in by chance because a random person was exiting, they were shocked to see me. Anyway, my face was once again steamed and buffed and surprise! My face looked the same as it did when I walked in. A Waste of $600. I blame myself though for sticking around after being basically ignored on the 1st day. So, I am a big fan of spas since I spent six months last year in China where I got over my fear of spas in general (mostly because all of the services were so cheap). Coming back to the states was hard because I knew I would be spending more money, but if I was going to keep up this commitment to spa life, I wanted to try some different treatments that I wouldn't have been comfortable getting with my limited understanding of Mandarin and Cantonese. (This is a good rule for all spa treatments: know exactly what they are going to be doing to you.) In short, I love So Lux. Their customer service is amazing and they, apparently, have a new office that is really nice. I went in for IPL (photo facial) treatment on my face and treatment of an old scar on my arm, which I thought would hurt more and be more expensive than it was. What was amazing is how different (good different, not bad different) my skin looks. Up close, I can see that the laser removed some pigment spots and broken blood vessels. My scar, specifically, is smaller and lighter in color after two treatments. Really amazing technology all around (lasers?!? crazy...) and really knowledgeable staff, while also being supportive about treatments that I didn't know much about. After going to different injectors and not exactly getting the results I hoped for I decided to to go see Dr. Rosett. I wanted a plastic surgeons take on my skin and honestly figure out how much is too much when it comes to Dysport. He was warm, friendly and has great bedside manner. He made me laugh and we vibed immediately. He injected my forehead as necessary and sent me on my way. I'm very happy with my results and look forward to working with him on a few other "tweaks". I have been debating if i should have just tried reaching out again but after speaking with board certified dermatologist surgeon this morning, I'm just going to air it all out here..... i had laser hair removal done, and fractora through SoLux... well as for the laser, it did work on my dark hair - however, the blonde hair on my face and upper legs, stomach, buttocks area... not at ALL after 8-9 treatments... the hair is more than it was prior. I was told by the person who sold the services that it was with my hormones and not true that laser doesn't work on blonde hair because of such & such machine..... however, i decided to do my homework and seek out actual board certified surgeons and a head dermatologist who actually sit on the board of one of the treatments she recommended for resurfacing the pores and acne scars on my face....first dermatologist i spoke with that runs 3 clinics in chicago, New York and Miami blatantly said if not done correctly on correct setting, this can cause the Hair to grow back thicker and longer... secondly, he would have never recommended fractora for someone who has acne prone skin and for resurfacing pores, and re texturing, and is head of board for fractora... that it's used for tightening and fine lines.... waste of money there... I spoke with a cosmetic surgeon who also said they would have never recommended laser hair removal for blonde hair because it's not guaranteed in all patients and can regrow as said above - that electrolisys is a better method for removal... I further more spoke with 2 additional clinics that also was in agreement with the above statements... and that they were actually treating patients who had laser on blonde hair that did not work and are in same boat i am in with more Hair than prior.... My hormones are not even to blame as that they are all level, and besides that fact, i started treatment for the Hair 6 months prior and saw no results with the blonde hair, was told to purchase more packages....if this was the case, then the Hair that is black and coarse kn my body would be growing back as well..... Don't be fooled into purchasing crap that does not work. Seek out medical advice from a dermatologist to figure out what's going to work best for you instead of spending 6k on nothing except more Hair and worse facial skin.... i didn't need my face tightened for wrinkles at 27 as what fractora is for. My face broke out horrendously after the two sessions and I'm definitely not coming in for the 3rd. Here i am now, spending MORE money because i was incorrectly informed or not made aware of possible outcomes. As you can see, my skin isn't any smoother, pores are same size... she also claimed it would help with my acne... not a chance.. does not help with acne and i have an abundance of peach fuzz.... Further more she recommended fractora over micro needling for scarring on my boyfriends face..... completely opposite of what the surgeons said. read more

Thanks for the timely response... The metered parking is used by the valets of the restaurants and bars in the area, so that is completely false. No other spa I have been to in Chicago is shameless enough to think that offering 12$ valet service is a good thing, so in that sense you are unique and offering things that others don't. Your website is still listed as being under construction, perhaps you should spend time on that instead of responding to honest reviews on Yelp you don't care for. As for the answering service/patient coordinator, you didn't have it two months ago or you would have returned my multiple messages. But going by the other reviews posted all I've missed is appointments being canceled at the last minute and non-working three year old (!) equipment. read more

I purchased a coupon for a green peel from Living Social. I have not seen any difference after the treatment. Unfortunately, I got convinced into buying a package of 3 because that's when I'd see te results. Big mistake on my side. Second green peel was not much better at all. It's impossible to schedule an appointment- they let go of the receptionist (who took two days to return a message, but still). The only reason this place got an extra star is thanks to Eddie, who's trying to do a decent job despite the circumstances. I was thinking of doing some wrinkle fillers or similar treatment but I think I'm better off shoping around. I would not want to have complications and not be able to talk to anyone. read more

Received green peel classic on buttocks to improve striae. Was charged a ridiculous price in what I thought would help improve my skin. I met with Angelica for a consultation but she had her incompetent assistant apply the peel. I was told I would have some discomfort but it would resolve after peel was washed off. I was given home instructions and told to wash off peel after 24 hours. The discomfort turned into pain and after 24 hours I was relieved to wash it off. The next couple of days I noticed peeling and my skin getting darker. It was as if the peel turned into a chemical burn. A treatment that I later found out was not the best treatment for Striae, made my skin darker instead of improving it! Angelica's response was to take pics, tell lies about how many successful green peels she has done and she gave me a lightening cream which did not help. The cream was like water and oily. I then returned for a so called lightening peel which did not help. I called to speak with her and she had someone else speak to me and asked me to come in again to be seen. I declined and asked for at least a partial refund to which I was told I needed to come in again a fourth time to be assessed. I have come in three times already with no improvement so I'm done with them. I thought time would help lighten the area along with creams I bought myself but my skin is still darker than the rest of my body and it's been months! I'm now seeking out a lawyer to get my money back. Do not go to this place. They are incompetent and scam artists who will take your money and most likely disfigure you. read more

I never expected to go to a med spa (or like it) but I did and I LOVED Solux!! I'm a very self-conscious person so this was a big step for me. My only complaint is that I didn't do it sooner. Full disclosure: I had read the reviews prior to going and didn't know what to expect... I am SO happy I went. I've had no issues with communication (they returned my crazy voicemails--yes I am that annoying patient , they answered every question myself and WebMD have asked...ha!) and it didn't take me long to find parking within walking distance. What can I say? The place is gorgeous! So clean and the fresh flowers were beautiful. I stepped out of the elevator and was welcomed so warmly. I wish I would have gone sooner. Everyone at Solux was very kind and attentive. I met with Angelica and discussed the things I was interested in doing/the issues I was having and she was so sweet! I'm one of those people that needs to know it all before I do anything and I thought my questions might be too much (aka annoying) but I couldn't have been more wrong. She took her time with me and made sure that I was relaxed. I truly appreciate her attentiveness (and patience). I will be back!! read more

SoLux is an amazing place. They're finishing up a major renovation and the spa looks gorgeous! Add to that the fantastic location (near Hubbard Inn, Paris Club, Hub 51 and the other Hubbard-Street haunts) and you'll feel like a million bucks coming and going here. I've never had trouble finding metered parking in the area, and there are tons of pay lots around. If you need a snack before your treatment, stop by the Starbucks on the corner. One thing I didn't even know to ask about when visiting a Med Spa was the quality of the equipment: SoLux uses the top-of-the-line laser for laser hair removal, which really helps with the pain of the procedure (which isn't that bad). I've also had an IPL facial (they have a great deal running right now that made it barely more expensive than an ordinary facial ... and the results are stunning), skin analysis, and botox. Everyone at the spa is well trained, completely professional, and super friendly and nice. I HIGHLY recommend SoLux! read more

Angelica has worked on me several times to laser hair removal and melanage treatments for hyper-pigmentation. She is very knowledgeable and took a lot of time to explain the treatment options to me. I am very please with the services I have received so far. The space and decor is beautiful. They have rarely made me wait too long for my appointment times. Parking is a hassle, but hey, we are in the city. My follow-up melanage treatment has been cancelled twice, because the product hadn't arrived on time, but Angelica was very apologetic and offered a complimentary treatment for my inconvenience. I read the reviews about phone tag issues. I go to many spas, and try out different treatments, and majority of the time, phone tag is the name of the game. So, I guess I am just used to it. I am happy they are busy. I have only completed the first Melanage of the three in the series, and I already see a huge difference. I have had IPL's in the past, but the results are nothing compare to this treatment. The best part, So Lux has a computer that scans your face and calculates your progress in percentages (not just mere photos). It calculates the texture, lines, sun damage, and then keeps track of the improvements. Nothing like irrefutable proof that something is working! read more

Initially, I was skeptical about Solux Med Spa due to the mixed reviews, but I was referred there by a friend. I am so glad that I trusted him! I brought my mother in for the microblading service. Microblading is a semi permanent form of tattooing that creates natural looking eyebrows. My mother is very hard to please and is very picky. I was so nervous because I was afraid that she would hate the results. It was very important that I found the right place. She has been wanting to get her eyebrows done for the past year. I'm so happy that I took her there. The atmosphere was very inviting. It's in an amazing spot. You can grab lunch before or after your procedure. The office was very clean. George (the guy at the front desk) greeted me and was very friendly. Andrea was the technician that worked on my mother. She did an amazing job! My mother felt very comfortable. They've always provided a solid service and taken me in on-time. It is occasionally difficult to get someone on the phone to make an appointment but they have always eventually called back. I'm not even using the last mircrodermabrasion that I have from the package becasue I cannot ever get anything other than an answering machine and we play phone tag. The microdermabrasion that I did get is nothing like the service I received from Spa Space or Salon Soak. I also had to wait for 20 to 30 minutes each appt I did have becasue they were behind. I too had an unfortunate first impression when my Saturday appt was cancelled 10 minutes before I arrived. I was told there was a death in the family. What can ya do. One of the owners went out of her way however to make it up to me and provided one complimentary service and I have another scheduled. Both people I met there were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The space is private and relaxing. I'll report back after my second appt. to confirm my recommendation. My guess is that some of these places get overwhelmed with the Pretty City responses and either over book or just can't keep up. I'd been a client of theirs after purchasing a package for IPL and a few peels. Each and every time I went there, their service got worse and worse, but I had already bought the package, so I was kind of stuck. They do not return phone calls or text messages, even after I left multiple messages. Last time was the worst and I will never go back, even though I still have outstanding treatment with them. The girl who did my treatment was rude and condescending-she was new since the last time I had been there. After I'd already had 3 IPL treatments in the past, she told me she didn't think that was the best choice for me (this is after other people there had done this exact treatment on me, with good results)! Then she tried to sell me on a whole new peel package and it took all my strength not to run from the room at that point. She finally did the IPL, but on such a low setting that it basically did nothing (I've had them multiple times so I know what is supposed to happen afterwards.) The girl at the front desk was a complete idiot, not knowing how to check me out or ring up a purchase for me and then they overcharged me on top of it! They also did not have any bags for me to carry my purchase home, to top off the entire bad customer service experience. I run my own practice and when I got into my office the next day, I used this staff and this particular experience as an example of what NOT to do in any office! I have been to other med spas in the city and this was by far the worst overall experience I have ever had. I will never, ever go back!! read more

I made an appointment for a photofacial after seeing the Pretty City deal. I did not have the same issues as others did making an appointment. I spoke to the receptionist the first time I called and made an appointment for a couple weeks later. However, yesterday I got there right on time for my facial, and NO ONE WAS THERE! I'm not even sure how I was able to get in, the elevator opened right into the spa. It took me a minute to realize only the emergency lights were on and the place was deserted. Thinking maybe someone ran a quick errand, I sat down and waited 15 minutes just to be sure and even called and left a message. So an update on my botox ripoff. Someone FINALLY answered the phone yesterday. They told me that in their records it states that instead of hte 15 units of botox I puchased I had been given a recommendation to have 85 UNITS OF BOTOX to ensure a difference in the brow wrinkle between my eyes. I was so astounded that they would tell such a blatant lie! No one, at any such time, recommended any further units or any other advice except not to do yoga for one day and to squint hard every ten minutes for one hour. I am so not letting this go. If someone suggested 85 units and I only purchased 15, why would any logical person let someone inject themselves with anything if it wasn't going to make one bit of difference? The lie doesn't even make sense!!!! Anyone else have problems here with their online specials? I'm only picking one star because I can't save my post if I don't hit at least one read more
