I've been a member of Southern Michigan Gun Club (SMGC) for over 20 years, and I absolutely love…read moreour facilities and the community that makes this club special. Our membership includes a strong presence of veterans, and that experience and mindset help reinforce the club's deep commitment to safety, respect, and mentorship. The range opportunities here are outstanding--airgun, 5-stand, skeet/trap, archery (including amazing wooded trails with 3D targets), multiple handgun distances, dedicated 50- and 100-yard rifle ranges, and a well-maintained indoor range where the club is currently experimenting with retractable target systems. SMGC has trained additional Range Safety Officers for the indoor range, allowing us to offer more non-event opportunities for members to use the indoor facilities--another example of how SMGC balances access with safety. The club has also expanded engaging shooting options in a thoughtful, safety-first way. Steel plates are now available on the 50- and 100-yard ranges, and reactive targets are available on the Goff pistol range when a Range Safety Officer is on duty, giving members more dynamic training and practice opportunities while maintaining proper supervision. Beyond the facilities, SMGC offers a variety of special interest groups that members can join, including pistol, Civilian Marksmanship, action shooting, run-and-gun, archery, indoor matches, 30/40 bore, and junior shotgun (skeet/trap). These groups create great opportunities for skill development, friendly competition, and community involvement. One thing I really appreciate is how the club continues to evolve responsibly. Our recently revised Self-Supervised Shooter (SSS) program allows members to demonstrate safe firearm handling in a structured, supportive way. New members can complete SSS right after orientation, giving them expanded access to the Goff pistol range and the 50- and 100-yard rifle ranges from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (or sunset, whichever comes first). The Board is safety-first focused and financially conscientious, with a clear emphasis on maintaining facilities while thoughtfully expanding opportunities for members. The club has also recently adopted a new membership software system, improving communication, streamlining access, and making it easier for members to stay informed and engaged. Because of that stewardship, SMGC is an excellent value at just $100 per year. Great facilities, strong leadership, and a welcoming community built around safety and respect--SMGC is a club I'm proud to be part of.

SMGC doesn't slow down when it gets cold outside but offers plenty of winter shooting opportunities…read morefor both members and the public. The indoor range stays busy all season with WMPL Gallery .22 matches, A Girl and A Gun, Ladies Shoots, .22 rimfire rifle events, and regular New Member Orientations. Members can also take advantage of open indoor range time, scheduled sessions with trained Range Safety Officers, and Backup Gun (BUG) move-and-shoot activities. Outdoor shooting continues through the winter with CMP events, 30/40 bore, and Skeet disciplines including Skeet, International Skeet, and SCRAP-- with Skeet and SCRAP open to the public. With a real strong focus on safety, great volunteer support, and activities year-round, SMGC is a friendly, well-run club that's easy to recommend. BTW...Membership dues are a deal !!!!!

Service was good. But I'm leaving a 2 star review because of how they handled my online gun…read moretransfer. I bought an Erfurt 1917 P.08 Luger and shouldn't have of having it shipped here. They claimed for it to have "no legible serial number" despite it having a four digit serial number on the frame. I mentioned that the ATF doesn't necessarily require serials from guns made before 1968. However they claimed a corporate policy is what prevented the sale to go through. Now I have to spend an additional 200$ for shipping and transfer fees to get it back. I won't be transferring a gun here again, I'll rather do it at Midwest on grape road where I know I won't have problems. I will come back to the store to use their range until Midwest range opens theirs up. Then I'll leave and not come back here except if there are great sales going on. Disappointing.

My husband had shot guns and was fairly comfortable with them, but I went into the class very nervous. Our instructor was Rayth and he did such a great job at explaining things in a thorough way without making me feel dumb for my lack of knowledge. He was patient, professional, and I left feeling so confident. I'd recommend this class to anyone that wants to know the working parts of guns, the proper way to handle and shoot guns, and just overall gun safety. Thank you Rayth!
