I reached out to this firm regarding a traffic violation caught on camera in Miami. I was told there was 50%-55% chances of the ticket being dismissed. However, at the end, I have to pay the ticket. It is better not to take on cases that can't be resolved, Say this clearly at the start before a client hires you. I called in the middle and was reminded that it was a 50-50% chance, and that camera cases are not easily dismissed. I knew right away what the outcome would be, I was being forwarned. Can't say I'd use them again. I needed legal services for a traffic infraction my daughter received by trying one of her friends cars before she had her license and these people were recommended to me by a close friend. I was grateful but it changed not long after - sadly. They forgot who I was, lost, misplaced or forgot all the information I sent them, I had to keep calling to keep them on the case or at least to give me some sort of update..... it was tedious and kind of scary because I didn't have to go through this kind of thing before. Once I hired them, I gave all the information to my daughter and her mother in Oklahoma to stay in touch with them and they would tell me they were having the same problems with contact and not knowing what's going on with the case etc. Foolish thing I recall is they asked for something they certainly should've had by now and I became a little bit frustrated and was short with them. They said everything was OK and that's really the last I've heard from them. Be mindful that if your ticket is not dismissed the ticket may end up being higher than the original value. This office does not do a good job communicating that you have to pay the ticket plus additional court fees and their fees if your ticket is not dismissed. It is a gamble...only do it if you don't mind the risk of paying more for your ticket and don't have the time to go yourself. Not worth it for minor traffic offenses IMO. I was pulled over a few months ago on the turnpike in St. Lucie County for speed. It was a case where I was traveling in a pack of vehicles, I was the last one in the group, all the vehicles in that pack were traveling at the same speed, there was a police officer parked in the median and as we passed, I was the easiest one for him to pick off and target since I was in the rear. According to the ticket the officer gave me, the fastest way to deal with it would've been to simply pay a fine of $256.00 to the county. A few days after I got this ticket, my mailbox was flooded with about 10 offers from various traffic ticket lawyers and attorneys, all of whom made various promises if I'd hire their services. One in particular was from Somera & Associates, it advertised rates from $25. I called them, the guy I spoke to (Brian) seemed decent and explained the process. Their charge for the service I needed would be $79 and they'd try and have the ticket dismissed completely; If that wasn't possible, they'd work to try and get the best possible outcome. I called and spoke to a few other clinics and lawyers who'd sent me ads for their services, but decided to stick with Somera, primarily because they didn't seem to make any bloated sales pitches and seemed to state that they'd work the hardest to resolve my case and get the best possible outcome for me as their client. I called back that afternoon and spoke to a woman who asked for my credit card number for the payment, and she also requested my e-mail address so she could send the receipt letter. She asked that I reply to her as well with a copy of my citation. A day or so later, I'd still not received any correspondence, so I followed up with another call. I finally got the e-mail with my receipt and a letter which promised they'd give my case the utmost personal attention. I replied with a copy of my citation as promised. That was the last I heard from them for nearly 4 more months, when I got an e-mail and a letter saying that I wouldn't have to go to traffic school and would receive no points, but I would have to pay court costs in the amount of $263. So when I was given this ticket, I was given the option of paying $256 to the county and that would be the last of it. Instead, I hired this law firm for $79, only to have to pay an additional $263 in court costs...So hiring Somera and Associates cost me a total of $342 vs. the $256 it would have cost to simply pay the ticket. Was it worth it?? You decide. **UPDATE 4/22/15: I received a call this past Saturday from Jessica Somera. I was out of town, so I asked to speak with her after I returned. She phoned me back on Wed., explained that she'd read my review and wanted to explain a bit about the process, how not all counties charge the same court fees, some are more willing to dismiss cases than others, etc. I promised her I'd update my review and I truly appreciate her calling me and I can tell that she has pride in her family's business and is passionate about what she does, not to mention she was very nice when she spoke to me. That said, my biggest issue is that it cost me nearly $100 more to hire this law firm and pay court costs than it would've cost if I'd simply have paid the ticket outright and taken my chances with the points. Also, in my past experience with another traffic attorney (with a ticket I'd received in a different county a few years ago) the cost of the court fees and the attorney fees was a bit less than the cost of the outright fine. Again, I appreciate that Ms. Somera took the time to call me and she was very nice and simply wanted to ensure I was clear on the process, but in the end, the reason I went to an attorney was that I was hoping to pay less overall than the cost of simply paying the fine. read more

I was on vacation with my wife and baby in the car when I got pulled over for doing 35 in a 35. Unfortunately, it was a school zone and I failed to notice that the speed limit during school dismissal hours dropped to 15 mph. Obviously, not being from the area, I couldn't fight this ticket myself, so I contacted Somera. The process was painless: I uploaded a picture of the ticket from my phone to Somera & Associates, and within a couple of hours they called me to talk about the case. After getting them a copy of my driving record, they handled everything and got my case *dismissed*. Everything was handled over the phone or through email. The fine was for $455 (ouch). Somera's fee was $79, I paid $20 for my (clean) driving record, and the Broward County court fees were $350 (!). All in, I saved $6. BUT, and this is a big but. I have 0 points on my license. And I also will not incur the hundreds of dollars (or more) increase in my insurance. As far as anyone is concerned, I still have a clean record. I'm not sure why the other reviewer is complaining, but to me that's a HUGE win. It's not the cost of the ticket that is impactful, it's the points and increase in your insurance rates! I docked a single star because I would have liked a little more communication (confirmation of the court date, that they are ready to go fight my ticket, and what the result was). read more

I was involved in an accident on i95 and luckily got away with minor injuries which healed with rest and some muscle relaxers. To add insult to injury along with having crushed vehicle, the State Trooper which responded to my case decided to give me a ticket for improper lane change. Everything about this ticket was wrong, firstly he wasn't there to see the incident. Secondly I was hit by an SUV, which then pushed my little car into a work van in the next lane, there is no possible way I could have improperly changed lanes, but somehow, the cop spent 2 minutes talking to me and 15 talking to the guy that hit me, to which he then issued me a ticket (and was not very nice when I questioned him about it, telling me if I have a problem with it I can see him in court - jerk). This is when I decided to fight the ticket. Not that it was an expensive ticket only $166, but out of principle, and the fact that my insurance company would jack up my premium. After one call to Somera and Asso. I spoke with Mike who was very nice and took down some notes on my case. He said I could drop off a copy of my ticket and a check for $100 for them to take on the case. I told him I could do it later that day on my way to work. The process was that simple, apart from the secretary being kind of rude when I got there, maybe she was having a bad day, thankfully I never had to deal with her again after that anyhow, though not the best first impression. From the point of paying which was in October, I received one voicemail in December letting me know the court date, and then one email and a voicemail in January letting me know my ticket was dismissed. So overall it was a very easy process and I did get the result I was looking for. I'm knocking off a star for the rude secretary, and because after I was told my ticket was dismissed I wasn't informed where I could find the official dismissal document which I could provide to my insurance company or really educated about how the process would go from the start. With that being said, I would probably use them again, opposed to a ticket clinic, but I would avoid the secretary and make more calls to them to find out what's going on or the next step. read more

I came to Somera & Associates after being burned in traffic court by a unreputable attourney. My license was suspended for not paying a $17 court cost they convienently left off my statement. I couldn't believe it when I was pulled over for driving with a suspended license. Fortunatly, the highway patrolman was courtious and explained what happened. I could of gone to jail. I was reffered to the Somera's by a friend and their service already was spot on. Not only did they sympathise with my position, they had all my poor driving records reconciled and the suspention was fixed. Not only was this the begining of a great relationship, but when I was forced at gupoint to spread accross my car for driving in the HOV lane, Somera's took care of that too. Driving in S. Florida is a high risk, with conflicts of interest between law enforcement and drivers happening hourly. You NEED to have a traffic lawyer. Make sure that they are Somera & Associates. I have personnaly had traffic issues that would seem insurmountable. Somera & Associates dismissed those tickets. Who do you want on your side? Actions speak louder that mailing flyers. My "Safe Driver" license says it all with 25 traffic violations (or rather, 25 conflicts of interest). read more

They took my money, the ticket and said I would get an E-Mail in about 90 days, everything is fine. I said what about court costs, no you are all set. Today I get an E-Mail that states I have to pay the court costs of $253.00 by 9/27/18. That was the original cost of the ticket. What happened to "no you are all set".
