Apart from Spanish being my first language who used to barely speak English while attending there, there's a lot of bullying and no acceptance to Hispanic culture or anyone who's considered "different". I was a victim of bullying apart from that I know I wasn't the only one as many other students went through the same things by students who where favorited by teachers and does in the office. Teachers will also not teach the intended materials, although not all were like this- it was a chance of 1 teacher out of all of the other ones that you have. Students will belittle teachers as well have no respect either from students to teachers or teachers to students. While I attended there I witnessed from a students being fat shammed then being thrown water on them to cases of sexual assault, robbery, suicide attempts as well a students making a teacher cry (she was the kindest teacher out of all of the others). I had multiple teachers also quit which caused us to miss out on a lot of material where we would then have to have final year test or quizzes knowing barely anything or nothing at all. They have no control over students or about their school entirely. I left that school before the pandemic only good thing they did is let me pass the grade during that year, I then transferred to Richmond heights (which was a difficult process do to them not giving us a paper needed for me to transfer, only way we got that paper was to give them a warning that we would then sue)- that school for me was such a big change from being to a big school to then a smaller one. But being there made my relationship with school, teachers and students way better and more trustworthy.

Opportunities are pretty nice but the actual school...not so much. In this school, there are some…read moreteachers that make it pretty clear that they don't like working with children which is ironic considering that they work in a school that is soon to be a k-12. Bullying is common in this school and when you bring it to the staffs attention they act like they're going to do something about it but they don't. Same thing happens when a teacher does something bad and you report it. Fights are not very common but recently there was a fight three weeks in a row. Students also get away with literally anything until it is wearing a sweater that covers their school logo. I have witnessed multiple teachers tell a student to not speak their native language because it's an "english speaking country". They also think suffocating someone with detentions and CSIs will magically change their actions or behavior. The students are either rude or racist with a 6% of students actually being good and the same thing goes for staff members. Students get away with bullying, intercourse, drugs, fights, sexting, and overall disrespect. There was also an instance where two students were going to the office to get a menstrual product with permission from their teacher who at the moment did not have a pass. They were stopped by a security guard telling them that they needed a pass and after explaining to the security guard that they needed the product, they were still ordered to get a hall pass (this took place immediately after the bell rung and everyone was moving to their next class so there was no need to have a hall pass in the first place). The art magnets are pretty good but some perform poorly (Entertainment technology). One of the Dance magnet's old teacher was good at showing the art within dance and don't get me wrong, the new one is good too but when the new dance teacher stepped in, most dances directed by that teacher have the dancers displaying inappropriate behavior. The school itself has pretty nice natural and artistic elements that make it visually satisfying but this is all true if you ignore the entire section of the school that has been blocked off because the school is falling apart. Also, sometimes the classrooms stink because there is literal mold growing in the vents. The bathrooms are fine and there is a handful of stalls that have no locks. There is also a bathroom littered with mosquitoes. This is overall a mediocre school when it comes to the arts but when it comes to the learning environment and the people around it, it fails to meet the high expectations that this school claims to meet

Say if you…read moreget an overall "B" in their class, your conduct grade would drop down from a 1 to a 2, and that's not how you grade. Like that's what effort grades are for... HELLO! Other than that, the school air is very suffocating, mold in the air conditioning triggers my allergies just as bad as when allergy season starts. Also, the staff worries about the wrong things. For example, why are you worrying about me in the halls without a pass when the teacher doesn't provide one, when there's other children vaping in the bathroom. It's very obvious too, open your eyes please and acknowledge the actual problems here. Other than that, it's an okay school. Thank you for your time!

This school's no sugar policy teaches students at a young age about eating healthy. They have a great gardening and music program. There are many afterschool activities -soccer, violin, orchestra, chest, etc. The afterschool program is held right in the students own classroom. The parents are encouraged to be involved -and most of the parents are very involved. My daughter has excelled greatly in this school. She is above expectation in all the subjects. Most importantly, my daughter loves going to school. She is excited about all her lessons and has incorporated a lot of her lessons at home.

During the time my daughter attended this school, I noticed a lack of academic progress and a clear stagnation in her learning, without adequate support for her development. Additionally, I observed a lack of empathy from the school's leadership toward students. The work environment also appears concerning, as there seems to be inappropriate treatment of staff, creating a tense atmosphere that ultimately affects the children. In situations where inappropriate behavior by teachers has been reported, the institution has tended to justify these actions rather than prioritize the well-being of the students. In particular, I was deeply concerned by a case in which inappropriate treatment toward a child was validated under the argument that the child "needed toughness," which I find completely unacceptable, especially when dealing with minors, and even more so with children who may have special needs. There also appears to be a lack of transparency, with attempts to minimize or conceal problematic situations. Furthermore, I observed instances of bullying that were not addressed effectively. Finally, I witnessed highly concerning behavior during school activities, including substance use and inappropriate conduct among students, which reflects a serious lack of supervision. For all these reasons, I do not recommend this institution.

Administrators are sometimes dismissive and unprofessional. If you are choosing to go here, do NOT PICK DIGITAL MEDIA AS YOUR ACADEMY. My level of work stress has significantly increased since my decision to attend this school. I have excellent grades, A's and B's, but this school is so bad I truly don't recommend it. I wish I never went here. This school was probably much better in the past, but it definitely fell off. The kids aren't that awful from my experience; it's the schools and how they do things. Honestly, as I think about moving for my senior year, I regret wasting the past three years here; I feel that I truly learned nothing. There are some amazing teachers who I believe should work in a place where their work would be highly appreciated. And also most of the academics are underfunded and waste their money on stupid morals.
