A softball game was going on. The ice cream truck cruised through. Though older, the grounds are well maintained The trees, roses, and lawn are beautiful. I love going for a walk through the park on a Sunday morning - any time of year. The only thing that ever disappoints me is the behavior of some of the people who visit the park. I just spent a few minutes reading about the history of Idlewild. The park is about 100 years old. The first big celebration held there was the Transcontinental Highway Exposition in 1927. It celebrated two new major highways- 50 and 40. The California Building was built for the Exposition. I also learned that Idlewild used have a zoo and a fish hatchery, and the pool was initially re-routed river water and a few changing rooms. However, they are closed in the winter. There is a covered eating area with several picnic tables to sit at. There is a grassy area to play on. However, the area is hilly and wouldn't be suitable for sports. The playground is nice, despite being older. There is a small playground and a large playground. The playground is unique and offers a lot to play on. Wood chips are underneath the playground. There are swings and toddler swings at this park. The material underneath the playground is artificial turf. There are 4 swings. There is a covered area with plenty of picnic benches. The people in the neighborhood were very friendly. The view of the mountains is fantastic. There are baseball fields and batting cages at this park. There is a small/medium sized grassy field with a walkway around it. Time for an update…read more Quality/Quantity - Easy walking or biking. Almost a 3 mile round trip. Well, the short path. AMENITIES: Barbecue, basketball court, pathways, picnic shelter, playgrounds, tables/benches, and year-round restrooms. You need bathrooms on the other side of the park also. Atmosphere - Part of the 1962 acre master community. 8 acres put aside for this park. Open space, wetland, etc. Service - N/A, self service. Price - Free. Owner Suggestion - Thank you for such a nice park, but can I suggest more shade? And another set of bathrooms on the other side of the park.

We used to bring my kiddos to this park a when they were little. There's a good amount of shade, ample parking, There are restroom facilities with bright night lighting. A large stretch of grass and even a walking trail makes for some good stroller cruisin'! I'd say a highlight to this park is the awesome view and location. We paid $250 for the rental through the city of Reno. Just so you know, the power outlets DO NOT WORK. We used our vehicles for power outlets ;)

There were benches to sit at this park, but they had homeless people setting up camp on them. The park was mostly dirty with trash littered throughout. Several homeless people were lying in the grassy areas. There are no bathrooms at this park. There is no playground equipment at this park.
