The lady helping me started asking really personal questions about if I was living with my fiance yet. When I told her no she was obviously judging me for not living with him before we got married. Which I just thought was crossing a boundary for someone I've literally never met and whose business it is NOT. I got a lace up back on my dress and asked if I could see it without the panel behind it (some brides do that) and she basically told me I shouldn't do that because "it would look like lingerie" and she kept calling my wedding a "Bible wedding" and like wouldn't drop it even when I tried to move on. Basically implying "how could you want to show your back if you are a Christian". Then she goes on to talk to my maid of honor about "no brides really wait to move in with their finances anymore" and she went to tell the other girl at the counter about our conversation in front of me while I was paying. She then made the comment "if your mom was here what would she think" and I was just like shocked. As if my mom would be appalled if I showed like an inch of my back line who cares. My maid of honor was also super weirded out. It was so strange especially since my first experience was so good. But that being said I love my dress and am excited to wear it! I think I've bought 15 or so dresses from them. Every time I go in, the staff is so friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help me find a dress that matches my vision. When I can't find a dress I want, they take down my information and will often do research to find a dress that I may like. This level of intentionality can be hard to find. They do a great job of finding accessories to go with the dress. I usually end up buying a beautiful pair of earrings with my dress. I could go on and on about SSY. Then she calls back to verify and states yes your card will be credited. Called to check on the credit, I was put on hold to be told the are no credits since we did not purchase the dress. I was not told that at the time. This is bad business practice. It's sad that small businesses are taking advantage of this situation. Will not be back.

While I didn't find THE gown, I still had to review this adorable place! First, coming from LA, I was so excited to even find a consignment wedding dress shop. Out here, it's very difficult to find places that rent gowns, let alone sell used ones. Had I found one, I was going to ship it to myself or have my mom fly it out in February when she comes out to do pre-wedding stuff. At the price points they offer here, the shipping would have been totally worth it! Second, they don't just sell used gowns! They had a lot with the original price tags on. Their prices on the new gowns were amazing - all marked originally $1000-1200, yet selling here for $300-500! Used gowns were even cheaper! Third, despite being a smaller shop, they had a pretty good variety of sizes and styles. I picked out 4-5 to try on. Last, you get the same experience here as any other bridal shop! You get to waltz out of your dressing room, stand on the pedestal, and take all your pics. The lady working was very helpful and sweet. Thank you, Lovie's! I'm glad to see that Joplin residents have the option of a shop like this when trying to plan a wedding on a budget like I am!
