I was very excited when I got the opportunity to move into this apartments, until one night some thugs came and stole tires from my car and several cars around the apartment complex. It was horrifying to be woke up by my neighbor. I reached out to the apartment management and they took as if we are bothering them. So far Nothing is being done to fix the insecurity in the apartment complex. read more

Would not recommend this place. Location is awful. Right next to a busy road. You can hear everything from people talking and cars driving by. You can find other places way more affordable. When I did renew my contract the rent went up by $300. Hence why I wanted to leave. For how much you're paying it is not worth it. Also get alot of weird people walking through the parking lot looking for things to steal. I lived there for 17 months and when it was time to move out i had a ridiculous amount i had to pay them. I cleaned it very well probably better then most people and I still had to pay for them to have it professionally cleaned because it didn't meet their standards. I also had to pay for new carpet. In the contract it states that i don't have to pay for anything that's not normal wear and tear. I guess walking on the carpet is not normal wear and tear. The contract is very misleading! When I did the walk through with manitience he literally pointed out every little mark. He acted like I basically trashed their apartment. There were no damages other then normal wear and tear. Which i had to pay for. Would never recommend this place! read more

I have had numerous troubles since even before moving in. To keep it short, just don't :) Pushed my move in date back the day of Moved in to numerous damages that still have yet to be repaired with just 1 month left on my 13 month lease Have gone without a functioning washer for more than 4 months, in which I have to constantly call and keep submitting work orders for. Have had my toilet explode and bathroom walls leak water, to which the repair people refuse to acknowledge Roaches live in the pipes Almost none of my borders (flooring or window) are properly flush and/or sealed so I constantly have pest problems Neighbors leave trash outside for weeks at a time There is no security Had someone try and shoot up in front of my door, so I requested their security services to which they refused, so I in all of my 110lb glory had to fight off a crackhead in front of my house in order to avoid a fee or fine from calling the cops, which i could have never have afforded since the rent is so inflated!!! You would rather be at your moms, grandmas or other parents, trust me. If that's not an option for you, just at least go somewhere cheaper, because this place is a waste of money and effort with no sense of community at all! read more

I seriously don't even know how to begin with this place. A TOXIC PLACE TO LIVE!!! i lived in that apartment for a year & a half and it was probably the worst apartment complex i ever lived in. the maintenance guy sucks! the office ladies barely answer the phone & leaves the office early even though google says it closes at 5:30. They barely help you with any complaints & tells you rules that aren't even in the contract so they gaslight you, take you for all your money.. service sucks!!! the apartment is not worth the rent + the amenities you get. My apartment was falling apart piece by piece. first it was the toilets barely flushing & in BOTH bathrooms!! Then the kitchen disposal broke & then the dishwasher! called a maintenance guy to fix it.. was at home one day & got a email saying they fixed it (the date i was home all day..) they clearly lied so i called them saying no.. no one came down to fix this.. didn't get a new washer till weeks later just to break on me again & then it gave me low water pressure in the kitchen sink... AND the dishwasher floods the left sink.. had to plunge it so many times! ... anyway.. after that the blinds break off in BOTH living room & master bedroom, the front door knob got loose & stuck to the point where i couldn't even open my door to get out.. had to fix it myself, the master bedroom door doesn't even lock or close normally.. the paint job on the door kept ripping apart every time i close the bedroom door,the shower tub tile was tearing apart, oh also there's a ROACH problem!! i been finding dead roaches in my kitchen, living room, bathroom, even in my BEDROOM and one CLIMBED ON MY BED. they seriously have a bad pest company and clearly don't care. i walked my dog one night for him to go to the bathroom & saw a bunch of roaches walking everywhere on the ground, couldn't even enjoy opening my pantry to get a snack without dealing with the pantry door getting lose and had to drill the nails back in 4 times just for it to get loose again, OH and there was a MOLD problem.. BLACK MOLD! all over the corners of our windows! the master bedroom,living room & second bedroom. called the SAME maintenance guy (seems they only have one who acts like he doesn't care) who told us get bleach and clean it ourselves cause they don't have double panned windows.. sounded pretty odd that he sounded like it wasn't anything concerning.. by the way i'm a VERY clean person. i kept my apartment unit ventilated with my window cracked, ac on, my bedroom fan on & clean daily and there was still mold!! bought all the supplies i needed to clean and got sick and dizzy cause it's ALL in the walls! there solution to my second complaint about the mold was "either move into a different unit or end your lease early and we had 2 days to decide! that's the solution?! so we cleaned it ourselves & it grew back! had strict rules to not have any furniture or BBQ's etc in our patios so why do we have them? also said we can't friends to come over who have dogs just to visit? when that's never been in the contact.. i read it twice! they only care about the outside looks of the apartment to reel people in. even in the notice to not have any BBQ's or furniture etc it said at the end "thanks for keeping the outside of the apartment beautiful", got the impression they only care about the outside. OH also forgot to mention the fridge is super small! especially the freezer and the fridge door shelves broke one day when i opened it & all my food fell out! there was a outage twice too... anyway .. so finally at the end of my nightmare at sommerset.. i finally got close to my move in date, had a hard time to get the office ladies to schedule my inspection because it seemed like they kept dogging it.. doesn't even answer the phone anyway! so i got the SAME ONE & ONLY maintenance guy (that didn't care about the mold growing in the complex) to do my inspection.. got to the office right on time & the guy said he was going to the store & he'll be right back .. was asked to come back hours later.. just for him to take pictures of the place.. didn't hear back to get any of my deposit back!! anyway i would NOT recommend this place to anyone. crappy service & even more crappy of a apartment. you can totally tell they do not care about their tenets & more about the money! not worth over 2 grand! read more

I have been waiting over a year to make this review. I knew that upon move out during my walk through I was going to be screwed to the wall in getting my security deposit back. Just like everyone else on here is saying in their reviews. My mother, father, and I spent 8 hours cleaning this apartment to the tee. We rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned the carpets and then in the review they wrote apartment was not professionally cleaned. Do you want to see my carpet cleaner rental receipt from Home Depot? We went and bought paint and painted where we had things hung on the walls. But then got marks against us because of smudges in areas where we didn't even have anything against the area. And then I got slammed with nit picking for a speck of something on the dryer, a little piece of dust, and all of a sudden that already means the whole apartment has to be cleaned. A smudge on the window warrants whole apartment cleaning. A small water spot (which is normal wear and tear) on the kitchen sink warrants the whole kitchen to have to be cleaned. Some little drip down the wall that was there when we moved in warrants whole painting of the apartment. The oven that was clearly old and used when we moved in we are getting charged for 'drip stains' after my mother spent 2 hours scrubbing that thing to death. I honestly loved the maintenance men when we moved in here, they were always kind and timely when we needed repairs in the apartment throughout the year. Today I lost a lot of respect for Mike. The ridiculous nit picking he had to report today was absolutely ridiculous. Pieces of dust, a drip of a cleaning product on the cabinet, etc. Oh and I have zero respect for the manager- she has been rude and nasty and unhelpful since we moved in. But she already knows that we never got along. The fake facade of being nice was apparent from the beginning when we were trying to view the apartments to see if we wanted to move in. Should have stopped there. All the reviews on here about her and the scheming, slimy way they find things that need to be taken care of and the costs upon move out are true. Absolute scandal. Not to mention things were stolen off our porch twice while we lived there, they did nothing about it. A neighbors child walked onto our property and broke a lawn decoration, the neighbor and office did nothing about it. My car was broken into while parked on the property and things were stolen, they did nothing about it. My ex's car had a huge, heavy pine cone fall on his windshield in the parking lot of their property and shattered it, they did nothing about it. This complex does not care for their tenants who live here and does not take responsibility for the theft or damage people experience while living here either. These apartments are small, dark, constantly need repairs, and not worth their price tag. 1000000% would not recommend living here. See ya in small claims court. read more

The maintainence guys are friendly and one of them even went out of their way to make sure I was safe when my car got a flat tire. The office managers are sooo freaking sweet and cool. I got to know them and I love going in there with muffins for them because a happy tenant does stuff like that. Oh, and my dog is scary looking and intimidating... But they've all made an effort to introduce themselves to my dog and get used to her. How happy does that make me? Extremely! It's clean, quiet, and organized. Very outdated for the price. For a two bedroom rent is $1700 then water, sewage, and trash are about an EXTRA $100 because it is NOT INCLUDED in rent. The trash bill comes to $28 a month and are ALWAYS full of trash and they're not a convenient distance away from all of the units. The maintenance crew was fast and friendly but seemed like once it came to fixing something it was either them or the company's owner that was cheap/lazy. The management was somewhat nice until we told her we were not renewing our lease then it seemed like we were a hassle for her and she was always rude and always had a blunt attitude towards me. When it came to the end of our lease, I cleaned the apartment almost spotless except for the stove (I completely spaced) and when he did the walk through he literally listed EVERYTHING in the apartment as dirty. "Entire apt carpet not cleaned at move out" but all of my pictures show the perfect design of when I cleaned and then vacuumed it. My sink had "water spots" so it was "dirty." "Patio glass door window, both bedroom windows and closet mirrors, bathroom mirror, bathtub, toilet, sink faucet not cleaned" but in all my pictures of the windows you can see theyre clean because some of the towel from cleaning it left some lint on the edges, my toilet and shower was spotless. (Check my pictures) The cabinets look nice in the online pictures but once you open them you find out only the doors are new. The shelves have a very gritty texture so unless u get a brush and scrub them you will never get it completely spotless. The shelves slant downwards in the middle. The drawers and cabinets open into each other because the way the kitchen is designed so some drawers dont open all the way because the run into the stove handle. All the windows are single so you hear everything as if they were open. And because theyre thin your apartment is always cold. We had small scuff marks from our headboard, one scuff from our couch and we had normal nail holes for holding up a painting but they were not considered normal wear and tear and then my boyfriend told the manager that they were wear and tear she kept getting rude to him and said "stop calling it wear and tear nothing about your apartment is wear and tear" they acted like we trashed our apartment but if you look at the photos you will think otherwise. *I would never live here again nor would I recommend it to anyone I know. read more

This place is pretty nice. I lived here for about a year and a half and must say I enjoyed my stay. Laundry is 24 hours, the landscaping is mostly beautiful, and the staff is so nice! The only reason this didn't yank five stars is because the garbage disposals are useless, and often break. Also, some of the neighbors are very loud at odd hours of the night (1-3am). I drove by recently and it looks like they added washer and dryer units to some of the apartments, I'm jealous. x3 I would recommend living here, I never had any major problems. read more

I lived in Sommerset for a good 6 or 7 years and I feel it was a lot better when I first moved in. The reason why we chose Sommerset was because it was a decent priced place and it wasn't trying to compete with the 'higher end' complex. Then of course they had to upgrade which I understand, business is business but after that things didn't feel quite the same. They changed management and they weren't as resident happy as the previous ones. Of course the past problems never got better. Noises. Neighbors are always noisy past curfew. Security never helps. Maintenance takes a while to come in and help. When we left, it took them past the contract listed time to give us back our deposit we got back. It took us to actually go in and complain for them to remember about it. I think this place was just starting its transition on our closing days of residence here. It probably could've gotten better, but in my experience it didn't . One thing, though, although it made the place more pricy, the washing machine and dryer was convenient. read more

Notifying all to be aware and sharp headed when leaving a deposit at Sommerset Apartment which Dawn the apartment manager in the office doesn't encourage and persuades you she will talk to someone from corporate that your income is enough to pass the application income guidelines.  I left a deposit of $500 to secure a unit two weeks ago and my application was denied due to my income amount and now refuses to return my depost. Will let a judge from small claims court determine the outcome.  Be aware of Dawns sneaky tactics and not fall for her smiles. read more

I just signed the lease for my Third year here. This is a beautiful complex. My apartment has all new appliances, granite counter tops, a full sized washer and dryer,and a nice sized porch with storage. The Staff is extremely nice, and maintenance takes care of any problems pretty fast. The garbage disposals are crappy. They break down and have to be changed out, but when you do call, it's fixed within a day or two. The prices are a bit high, but if you want to be in a beautiful place with a nice gym and pool, it is worth it. :-) Love my Home!! read more

Before you move here read the lease agreement very careful, they will raise your rent every time you sign a new lease, it will cost you an extra $300 a month to go month-to-month,so if you're trying to move out they make it extra hard on you-The pool is never heated and constantly closed the hot tub is lukewarm at best-I don't expect to get your deposit back unless you leave the place in better condition than you found it they charged me for re-surfacing the bathtub and I did nothing to it but normal wear and tear-don't expect to hang up a plant or a birdfeeder they are afraid if there is an earthquake it will fall and hit you in the head and they will be responsible for it-my car was repeatedly damaged in the parking lot-The only bright spot in this whole place is the maintenance people which are great, otherwise I would not recommend these apartments, read more

For the rent being the highest in town, you'd think you'd get your money's worth. Cheap appliances, defiantly not granite counter tops, but a cheap easy peel away laminate. Single pane Windows, terrible carpets, and zero storage space. Quick talk to law enforcement and you'll discover that this apartment complex has the second highest theft rate from car break ins. (We've had our car broken into, and theft from our apartment all within six months) There are wild cats that roam the apartments full of fleas, so if you have any animals it will be a constant battle with infestations. When we moved in, the apartment wasn't even cleaned properly. By where the fridge and cupboards meet there is a large visible gap. I swear with no exaggeration it had three inches of dust fluff filth all up along the walls. When I pulled the drawer out of the bottom of the stove I found crayons and a juice pouch.... seriously??? read more

The apartment was decent and I could get over the price as this is California, but the staff really ripped us off upon move out. I took very good care of my apartment for the year and a half I was there and had my apartment professionally cleaned at the end and they still charged an arm and a leg for cleaning among other BS reasons during the final inspection. Nice area with terrible security. My car had gotten broken into and the dirtbags actually were successful with stealing some stuff out of it. Mangers NEVER called me back or apologized for the incident. Cars continue to get broken into a month after even with "security patrolling the area." Araceli is perhaps the most pleasant and efficient manager I've ever dealt with in an apartment complex. She's friendly, knows the people and the complex, and is both knowledgable and efficient. She treats everyone with respect, and makes you feel as if you're part of a community. Whether you're thinking of moving in, or you've been a long-term resident, Araceli is the person you want helping you! The Maintenance Supervisor Mike knows the complex like the back of his hand, and is always happy to help on those rare occasions you may need it--as is Phillip who also works maintenance. In the several years I've lived here, I can count the times I've needed maintenance help on one hand, yet each and every time I was treated as if I was the only resident, and my problems were dealt with quickly and professionally. This is not the place to live they will not return your deposit even after you clean up and down. I lived here less than a year and they tacked on so many charges. Be sure to document your move in verses your move up, because that apartment was left very clean. They had the nerve to say that I owed them money. The office staff is nice until you move in . This was a huge mistake moving in Sommerset. Don't fall for the fake façade , because the charge you an extreme amount on your water bill and upon my move out the bill got even higher. I have only lived her a couple of months but I love it! I moved here after only living in some townhouses nearby for about 10 days. I had to leave that home, though I loved it, due to pests. Anyway, I was in a hurry to find an apartment and they only had 1 here and it was ready to rent. Within a couple of days, I was able to move right in. I love this little apartment. The office staff is great. The maintenance staff responded quickly to my requests and handled everything in a prompt manner. Be careful when leaving they will rip you off when you moved out....we left our apartment like it's moved in ready not a single pen marks on the walls, bathroom is spotless, we did not hang anything on the walls because our stay here is only temporary and yet we were charged for carpet cleaning, paint, cleaning charges that cost atleast $450. It's the law that apartment owners should be responsible for the minor wear and tear we took care of the apartment really good because we've read the reviews about how they charged tenants with ridiculous fees when moving out. Sommerset apartments has been an amazing experience for my kids and I. I have lived here for over six months now and have not one negative thing to say about this property. Shanna is a fantastic manager and is more than helpful, attentive and respondant to every question or issue that you may have. The same goes for the assistant manager and the maintenence staff. They are all a terrific crew with "no nonsense" approach and yet make you feel warmly welcome! The grounds are immaculate and each unit is well maintained! The pool and hot tub are about the consistently cleanest I've seen in any complex I have lived in. The atmosphere here is quiet yet still posseses a liveliness with respectful and friendly tenants! I'm definately proud to call this my home and would encourage anyone who is "on the search" to come check out what this place and staff is all about!! I love it here and plan to stay! read more

This apartment is beautiful but expensive! And management doesn't care if you don't have working amenities....in Vacaville it was over 90 degrees and I had no working A/C and they barely did anything. My service animal was struggling to stay cool and I had to fight for even a portable fan. Over a week with no A/C and they refused me for a 7 days rent deduction!! They told me A/C wasn't a basic amenity so they weren't required to deduct me the days without it. read more
