From the moment we met the Parkside staff, we were impressed by their kindness and helpfulness. The Tamarac location is brand new (as of March 2025) and it is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care services (as opposed to assisted living). Parkside also offers furnished rooms, which made our move even easier. When you tour the new location, you can see that every detail has been carefully considered, and everything is pristine. The central kitchen would be a dream for any professional chef, and the beauty salon is fully equipped and conveniently located for all residents to use (see photos). Moving a parent or loved one who suffers from dementia can be overwhelming, but the staff at Parkside went above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are incredibly grateful for their support.

Including my mom and sister, which killed me when I read it!!! My mom died of Covid from the negligent staff in this facility. From the very beginning of the pandemic, my mother never left this facility. A healthcare worker from outside of the facility contacted me and stated my mom had not been feeling well for days and was concerned. It was not the nursing staff that contacted me!! We called and had my mom sent to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Covid from her chest xray before her Covid test even resulted. She suffered for 11 days before she passed!!!!!! I later found out they took other residents out to vote 9 days before my mom went into the hospital. Who takes the most vulnerable population out to vote during a pandemic!!!!!!! I found this out by pictures and videos they posted on Facebook!! Some of the photos were removed after my mom's death but I took screen shots of everyone!!! I saw Employees and Residents in their facility van with no mask on! Pictures of workers with no mask on!! They also had group gatherings with pizza and games inside the facility. Staff painting residents nails with no masks on (staff and residents)!!!!!! In August 2020, I went to the facility and saw the workers inside the facility walking around with no masks and I questioned one of the nurses and she informed me "the masks make my lips hurt" !!!! Really!!!! I immediately informed the owner. Clearly, PPE guidelines were not followed or enforced. My mom past away November 21st, 2020. My aunt was a roommate with my mom at this facility. I moved my aunt out in December 2020. After my mom passed, I saw the staff in full PPE!! Why did it take my mom's death for them to start following the guidelines!!!! My aunt became Septic several times at the facility due to neglect of letting her urinary catheter back up. I wonder now if she should of even been in this facility with a urinary catheter???? In December, after my mother's death, my aunt became Septic and had to be admitted. I refused to have her transferred back to this facility!! She had lost 20lbs and had become so weak. The staff never informed me she wasn't eating. Someone other than the staff informed me. It sickens me how both of my family members suffered due to neglect in this facility. I am heartbroken and now live with guilt for not being able to keep my mom safe

They have a state-of-the-art clubhouse that has ping pong tables , a theater and a gym The apartments themselves are very large 900 square feet and all of them have a balcony. The balconies look out on the trees including the pool for some and the lake for others. The only negative in the two units we saw were the kitchens, which are outdated. Two meals a day are provided so I was not as concerned about the kitchen. Mom and I had dinner in their dining room and I have to say the food was very good. They have a regular menu and then an alternate menu that you can choose from daily. There are four course dinners available if you want to eat a lot. My mom will be moving in next week. Head nurse ignored instructions & boundaries during "evaluation" (which wasn't an evaluation at all) and caused all kinds of drama at the current facility. The same head nurse refused to honor the price quoted to me the DAY before moving in. Caused lots of havoc and consider the place untrustworthy like so many assisted living facilities.

Elaine provided lots of help, patience and guidance in helping my Mom find the perfect new home. Beautifully decorated, and well-kept property and community. The community and residents are very warm and inviting. Then, I discovered mold in my mom's apartment during the first week of October and promptly informed the maintenance team. Unfortunately, the actions taken did not remove the mold and my mother continues to experience symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, runny nose, aches, and pains for months, which the Dr confirmed are directly related to mold exposure. I escalated the matter to Pacifica's Executive Director, and she immediately coordinated with maintenance to treat the mold, requiring my mother to vacate the apartment temporarily. While the maintenance team applied mold treatment and repainted the ceiling, my mother continued to find mold on personal belongings, including shoes, purses, and towels. Executive Director acknowledged the issue and offered to move my mother to another unit within the building. However, I cannot risk her health any further in that environment and moved her out. When I informed Executive Director my Mother was moving out end of month, she reminded me that they required a 30 day notice which she agreed to waive. However, when I asked for a refund for the last months rent see her response: "We have addressed your concerns that were brought to our attention. We offered to move your mom's room. According to your contract you needed to give us 30 day notice, which I waived for you. Our company is unable to give you a credit for the previous months rent." The building has mold - BEWARE. You're paying tons of money for these people to watch over your elderly parent with dementia but you cannot trust anyone!

I enjoy making people laugh and I am very involved in the activities. I love helping the residents also. The Executive Director has an open door policy and she is always available to talk to the other resident's and families. We have great family nights that everyone has a ball dancing and eating. I would highly recommend this community for any senior wanting a family atmosphere and compassionate staff.

To the laundry staff who helped to find my mother's lost blanket which was a gift to her from her granddaughter, thank you! To all the therapists who worked with my mother, thank you. The first thing one notices at Sunrise is the happy disposition of all the staff. Everyone says hello with a smile. This must flow down from the top. Happy employees take good care of the patients. When it came time for my mother to move to another facility, Jenna & Cari did all they could to help & follow up. The facility is clean & doesn't smell. There are serene places to sit outside. All this is in contrast to the horrible experience at the vaunted Woodlands at John Knox Village. My mom was there twice and it was the same. Unhelpful & uninterested staff. Annoyed all the time. The Woodlands at John Knox Village is the dark night to the Sunrise Health & Rehab's bright day. I have been here fir at least 3 months. I have made progress with the physical recovery. The…read moreequipment for rehab is not very good. Basically there are about 8 rider type machines a small walking track and stair rack and a machine to aid standing up. All these machines and tracks are very close together A few of the bicycle machines need repairs to the timing and difficulty ranging. I have had a very good therapist. I have not seen all the rooms but I assume they are generally as roomy as my room. Service is spotty. There are some very good CNA'S BUT IN MY OPININON NOT ENOUGH OF THEM. I have waited as long as 2 hours for service. i can honestly say that the upper level medical staff in my case and in my opinion are not at all competent. I have a script that requires 3 specific antibiotics Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I had to contact the head nurse because they could not do that correctly. We had come to an agreement that they would dispense the parts of that prescription noon day on the Monday Wednesday and Friday so i could verify the drugs. That lasted about 2 weeks. Right now It is 9:00 and I do not have my proper script from my Wednesday order. They have bee telling me that a nurse is coming. The last time I called they hung up the phone. I hope that my opinion of this place helps you make a good decision on you choice of rehab facility
