My oldest daughter has been dancing at this dance studio for 8 years now and youngest for 3. It's family oriented and we have never had a bad experience. The teachers are knowledgeable and keep the environment positive. Happy to still be a part of this group! read more

My daughter started taking 1 ballet class when she was 9. Now she's 16 and on numerous competition teams and dancing solos and duets. Students take their core classes weather you are on the comp team or not. I started taking adult classes last year and love it. The studio kids and parents are our 2nd family. read more

First off: I want to warn you the owner always begs people to put positive reviews, but wont allow you to make negative ones. So if you see a good review its probably a teacher or a family who wants a discount! I give it two stars for the nice teachers that they have here. However, the studio owner is a different story. She picks her favorites and lets them get away with murder in her class, and in the studio, but makes sure they still get center stage for the dances! The studio use to be run by her mom but now it is run very differently. The new owner is very unprofessional with dealing with parents and also how she treats her older classes. I've seen some very disturbing things... Also, if you are not on their competition team you will not know what is going on. Very difficult to get answers. Overall, nice studio but needs better management and more organized office staff! read more

I can not express my love for Song and Dance Inc. I have been in the dance world of over 30 years and I can tell you I would not hesitate to send my friends and family to Song and Dance. The passion and love shown to each dancer is hands down amazing. It doesn't matter if the student takes one class or is there 5 times a week. All children and families are treated equal. My kid went here. My wife left some reviews early in the year, positive ones. Here's mine: My kid loves the ballet teacher and she loves learning her moves, but the place is a logistical nightmare. The communication is terrible, so unless you're in tight with them you will be clueless, then you'll be chastised when you try to find out what's going on. Even the entry to the studio is poorly planned - as soon as you open the working door (of the two there) there is a snack bar line on the left and the administrative office on the right. Getting in and out of the place on a busy night is patently ridiculous. That leads me to my next problem: snack bar? Do they even have a license to prepare and serve food? I don't know. The place is pretty clearly set up to pay for someone's new house and boat, for although the monthly dues aren't too bad, everything else is a nickel and dime situation. For example, they make the kids wait all day during recital rehearsals, but don't worry, of course they have tables set up to sell food for the kids. The program for the recital has ads for sale and they hock these leading up to rehearsal. There's always a table to buy medals and trophies and other junk. It's pretty obvious. Speaking of the recital... Oh the recital. The recital, the recital, the recital. It's pretty standard for a dance studio to have a recital but this one is two days. The same show, about 4 hours long, done two times. Why? I have no idea. Then the recital rehearsal schedule is manic and obliges people to stay for hours on end while they work out the kinks of timing, lighting, music, and spacing in what can only be described as a frenetic tornado of complete guess-work and apparent inexperience. And for some reason there's a suspicious number of adult teachers in the actual recital, dancing next to fourteen year olds. That one strikes me as bizarre. A parent has to stay for the duration of the rehearsals and both recitals (you must buy both of those tickets to for the privilege). You can't leave after your kid's 5 minute set, and your kid is held prisoner in the back for the four hour show. By the end of this process I feel like an employee of the dance studio, yet I look at my back statements and it turns out I was paying them the whole time. All told, plan for about 40 hours for the recitals and it's rehearsals. You feel like you're in jail. The short of it is this: the teachers seem fairly competent. Skip the recital. It's not worth it. They need some help in that area. read more

My daughter loves ballet here compared to the previous dance studio she attended. She has shown wonderful improvement since joining. She takes two classes a week for a reasonable price especially compared to other dance companies. As a parent, I enjoy the huge viewing window or sitting and watching the cctv of her classes. The class size is small from my previous experience while providing high quality lessons from an instructor who cares about the students. So far so good. read more

I concur with the other review by Michelle C. It's unbelievable that her review is 6 years old, yet we've have a similar experience. We moved to Florida from another state and wanted to keep our daughter in dance. We Googled dance studios and discovered Song and Dance. In short, this place is ridiculously expensive. You'll spend money every time you turn around. This past weekend, which was Father's Day weekend, my wife and I had to endure a 5+ hour dance recital even though our daughter was only in one routine that lasted 3 minutes. We were told she had to be there before the program started and that she couldn't leave until afterwards. I endured one day, and my wife two. They gave the kids goldfish to eat and had nothing more than a small tv with a VHS player for entertainment. By the end of the recital the kids were starving and bored out of their minds. The staff was militant, demanding, and pure hateful. The overall talent in the recital was nothing impressive....at all. It was boring, long, and a waste of time. And if THAT is what my 5 year old has to look forward to in dance, I'll save my money and teach her how to dance myself. I could definitely do a better job. If you're considering dance for your child, I would suggest that you find somewhere else to enroll them....even flushing your money down the toilet would be more beneficial. And definitely do not consider putting your child in one of these asinine excuses for a "recital". If I would have had to get into a "shouting match" with a staff member (as Michelle's dad did), I would've shut the place down. No one will tell me I can't have my own child. It's beyond stupid and silly. We've pulled our daughter out of this money pit and enrolling her somewhere else. read more

When we moved here from CT we were looking into a Dance studio so our daughter could continue doing what she loves, DANCE. Song and Dance has been one of the best choices we made. I've watched before my very eyes our daughter blossom into a beautiful dancer. They have really built her confidence up. This is guided by nurturing, loving, creative teachers. I have danced at song and dance for almost 3 years now. Everyone there is so kind. The teachers and staff are always there to answers any questions you have. No matter what classes you take or teams you are on everyone is family. The seniors are always there to help you do your hair or spot you on a trick. My daughter has been attending dance classes at Song and Dance for 3 years and we all love this place. Everyone is friendly, and it's such a positive environment for all the kids. My daughter absolutely idolizes Miss Darcy - the owner and one of her instructors. Not to mention Miss Darcy is one of the best dancers I have ever seen - she knows her stuff. I've seen other dance schools where teacher's instruct - but they don't perform or dance along with the kids and it makes such a difference. The annual recital is one of my favorite days of the year! One star for the great teacher who managed to keep a peppy attitude while dealing with 4 and 5 year olds, and even teaching some of them how to dance pretty well. Other than that, take your money somewhere else! The office staff was always too busy, and hardly acknowledged me even when I was paying them. You would think that it hurt them to smile! As with most dance business, you pay out the arse for everything. deposits here, tshirts, there, videos, 14 dollar recital tickets...as is expected of these places, I guess... However, their 5+ hour recital (50 dance performances with skits in between) was on Father's Day this year. They let everyone know that children are supposed to stay until the end of recital, but they don't bother telling you how long the recital is. I had family in from out of town, and an infant. I wasn't about to stay another 2 or 3 hours after intermission after her 2 minute routine was over. They initally tried to tell me I was not allowed to take my own daughter out. People actually stood in my way. A volunteer dad got into a shouting match with my own dad and physically threatened him. After 20 minutes of this, my dad called 911 and the person with the sign in sheet to check your kid out came running out and had the nerve to tell me to hurry up and sign in it because she left her daughter backstage to change herself. Hello, you were trying to keep me from taking my own daughter home!!! These are miserable elitist, money hungry business people. I laughed when I read the program about how they are trying to bring dance to so many people. What a way to introduce a newcomer to dance! read more

Enrolled my daughter for a summer camp and what a surprise. The staff required the kids to clean the dance studio! I am not talking about the kids cleaning up after themselves or tiding up after class I am talking about children being given gloves and brushes and being told to clean the bathroom, sweep the floor, etc. This was not just my child, this was all of the kids. To me, this has to be illegal and I will certainly be pressing to find out how they get away with this. At then end, a staff member even said that their favorite part of camp was when the kids had to clean. I paid money to have my child forced into child labor? I think not. BE WARNED! read more
