    My painting and the reference

If you come to Crystal River, you MUST make a stop at Paint the Town Citrus. This was one of our most fun activities. Not only do you receive step by step help and tips regarding how to paint what you've chosen, but you are met with friendliness and kindness. Furthermore, there is a full menu of drinks for an extremely low price, as well as an abundance of snacks to choose from. The whole experience was so amazing, I can't recommend it enough. A great spot for a date or just to have fun with a group of friends. I am so grateful to have found this place!

I used to live in Jacksonville and they had amazing paintings all over the city so you could always find something you liked close to you! From what I noticed, most of Tampa Bay's events are in St Pete, Clearwater, even Sarasota and only a few are actually in Tampa, and the paintings are not too appealing. Other than that, it's always a good time. I usually go with my girlfriends, but this time I went with my husband (event was held at Hamburger Mary's in Brandon - so much fun!) who purposely does not follow instructions and this is what we ended up with! Lol.

People are great when inebriated and painting! I had one (really strong) drink before we started painting and I'm not sure if I would have kept drinking, if my painting would have been better or worse LOL. But I had fun and my painting turned out just fine! Our instructor for the night, Kenzie- fantastic! She was very patient with everyone there and input jokes at just the right times. She also went at a slow enough pace that everyone could follow. Appreciated that she went around the room with her painting after certain steps so we could see up close what to do next. Only complaint was that it was kind of hard to see what she was doing as she was at one end of the room and we were in the back and had to crane our necks around everyone's heads to see. I brought the hubby for our date night, who initially had that "oh, shit. really??" look as we saw the room fill up with only women-hahaha! But then more couples started coming in and he became more relaxed. He thought this was a chicks only kind of thing. But it's not! He even said afterwards that he had a lot of fun and enjoyed painting. Already looking at next month's paintings and venues to see what we should paint next! They always have coupon codes you can use when buying tickets and usually there are great deals on Groupon and Living Social.

Johnny has been our instructor on more than one occasion and he's always so thoughtful with his instructions and so patient with everyone, It's always easy to reserve a wheel via text or phone call, which is recommended on busy weekends and evenings, but you can also drop in. There are several wheels in the studio and tables for adding the finishing touches like handles or other accents. You'll photograph your piece to locate it after it's been fired then return about a month later to glaze your piece. Make sure to paint three layers or the color will be super faint. A month after that you'll return to pick up your masterpiece and become hooked like me.

He gave us great techniques and tricks on making what we wanted. The first session is for you to make your own vessel and the next session in 30 days will be painting. If you're not local you can paint some of the pre-made items. As being local is better for the pottery wheel because it takes time to dry. Pottery making is a skill and is so relaxing if you have patience and a vision.

They will bring the party to you. At a restaurant, club house, or even your home. The owner Stephanie will even design a painting based on your event. She was so great to work with. The day of the event her artist Spencer was so much fun and flexible with our group of 15 ladies. He set up and talked us through paintings. He gave each lady assistance when they weren't sure if there masterpiece was going according to their plan. He had his boom box and asked what type of music we wanted. This place is packed with personality from every angle. Bowling balls are everywhere stacked, lined, and worked into the yard in ways that make you stop and stare. It feels like someone took a simple idea and just ran completely wild with it in the best way possible. Then you start noticing all the unexpected details: random statues scattered throughout the property, SpongeBob characters popping up in places you wouldn't expect, and CDs hanging from strings that catch the light and move with the breeze. It's like stepping into a fully DIY art installation where anything goes and more is more. What makes it so great is that nothing about it feels normal or restrained. It's loud, weird, colorful, and totally unique. Every time you look around, you notice something you didn't see before, which makes it feel like the house keeps changing as you explore it.
