Pretty legit pho bac if you ask me! Better than all the pho shops in little Saigon in southern California. Their beef tastes very fresh as if the quality of beef was on a whole new level. Pho dac biet (15.50 euros) consists of rare beef, flank, mmet balls (Bo vien), & ox tail (duoi bo). The broth comes out on a sizzling stone pot and their rare beef and noodles comes on the side. Their veggies dish was abundant and includef the essentials - bean sprouts, lime, Thai chili cut up, Thai basil (hung que), & culantro (ngo gai). Outside of Australia and Orange County, CA - Paris seems to be the most likely destination for all things Vietnamese, especially food. A cold and wet Paris afternoon had my group and I longing for some pho and after consulting with locals at a mall in Quartier Chinois, the restaurant mentioned more than once was Song Huong, which became our first Vietnamese stop in the neighborhood. Aptly named after the Perfume River in Central Vietnam, Song Huong's homely decor and polite service is about as Vietnamese as it gets. Bathrooms are as narrow and tight just as they are in Asia, but are for the most part clean. Seating was good enough to seat most of my group of nearly 20, though we had to break up and sit at multiple tables. The menu was presented in English/French/Vietnamese, which suggests this place is often frequented by non-Vietnamese/non-French customers (read: touristy?). With bowls of pho nearing 9 euros a bowl (when there were signs at other places for 6-7 euros) and the blessing of locals, my group and I had pretty high expectations. And while for some the expectations were met, I think a majority of us were slightly disappointed. The cafe sua da (Vietnamese coffee) was sweet, but not very potent. I had a sample of the bo luc lac (marinated beef cubes) and it was a bit too salty. The star of the show, the pho, was good, but not $15USD good. The broth was a bit murky for my tastes, not with the rich consistency of boiled beef bones normally has. And while the noodles were abundant, the actual strips of the beef were a little limited to roughly 6 small pieces at best. While the experience wasn't mind blowing, it certainly wasn't a total bust. The food quality was solid, it's possibly my only visit was during one of their bad days. And since few experiences are ever perfect, I wouldn't rule out a visit to Song Huong again if I find myself back in Paris Chinatown. read more

The spring rolls. They're very, very much worth it...better than anything I could find in Toronto. The pho was fine too, albeit the noodles came as one clump that was a bit of a struggle to break up. It was quite stacked with meat and I appreciated the clarity of the broth. Communication was an initial struggle until I finally switched to French. They were also kind enough to correct a nasty habit I picked up from Toronto - dropping an entire wedge of lemon into the broth (!). read more

I usually don't like Pho, but their pho dac biet was the best experience my family ever had. We live in California so we know what good pho tastes like. It was in a clay pot with the bone inside so the broth was very flavorful and it will make you sweat after because it kept it very hot. I just love the slight firm chewy noodle that brings out the broth taste when you bite on it. The Banh cuon was good as well. I had the wonton noodles and i wanted to order more wontons . Great place to go if you crave for Vietnamese food. read more

AUTHENTIC! That's the first impression they gave me when I tasted their pho and banh beo. My husband and I came to Paris as one of our honeymoon destinations (lucky wife!). He was browsing through yelp and found this Vietnamese Restaurant and asked if I was up for a try. I was curious if Vietnamese cuisines in Paris were authentic or not, so we came here and I couldn't be any more pleased with the results. I was sooo impressed of how good their pho tasted and banh beo was excellent! We live in California and have had banh beo many places, but I love that Song Huong's banh beo taste very authentic because it was full of flavor. We've been to Vietnam as well, and it just brought back memories of the food we had there. However, we also ordered their mi quang and sam bo luong - I wasn't as impressed as I was with the pho and banh beo. read more

Who would've thought that I'd be able to get my bun bo hue fix in Paris?! LOVE it! This might be one of my favorite Chinatown spots btw-I definitely liked it better than LA or SF's, and it's cleaner than NY's! Anyways, the bun bo hue here was tasty and had a nice spice and broth to it! The pho had a great broth as well. Both noodles were perfect-and I'm not even a huge fan of pho! Good times. read more

Very convenient and nice that it was open on Christmas Day. The beef skewers were tender and slightly sweet and lemony, probably lemon grass. The service was really fast. The soup had a wonderful onion broth and little dumplings that tasted savory. I really liked the pickled carrot and radish. The dumplings had a nice crust. I would definitely go back. read more

Closest thing you can get to the real deal. I don't understand all the high ratings--so some reviewers must not be Vietnamese or their parents don't make good Pho. LOL. The broth definitely lacks depth. I had to squeeze two lime wedges and pour the hoisin and sriracha in to the bowl for it to taste good. The Pho dac biet came with different cuts of meat--some where chewy and some were soft. I give them props for having the right herbs for Pho, too. Bon appetit! read more

Loved this place when we came to visit Paris from California! They were able to accommodate a group of 12 girls. Coming from California & also trips to Vietnam numerous times, I could definitely say their Pho Dac Biet is in my top 3 of best of all time! A few girls I was with said it was the best they ever had. I have had Pho from California, New York and now Paris. The Pho from this place is by far the best I have ever had. The soup base is amazing, full body and not oily. The noodles are flat and not round. The tendon beef balls are bouncy and flavorful. The Vietnamese coffee is the strongest I've ever experienced. One of the best pho dac biet I've ever had. I'm a pho lover and have tried pho from all over and this is one of the best. I wanted to try French Vietnamese food and this place came up in a search and I'm glad I went with it. Rich broth, not watered down, perfectly seasoned and spiced. The presentation was 10/10, they bring you the broth in a sizzling/bubbling bowl and add in the noodles/raw beef in front of you. Beware since it's a boiling bowl, broth will stay hot for longer and may burn your tongue. I highly recommend this place. The cha goi is also good! read more

Worth the trip to Chinatown. The bun was awesome. Generous with toppings with meats seasoned perfectly. The shangking beef was the Star though. Melt in your mouth tender with a flavorful sauce. Great reminder of simple and good Viet food. read more

Pho 14 next door has a better soup with bolder flavours. Thankfully they had all the herbs and provided me with extra lime when I asked. On our second visit, my husband had the seafood hu tieu and i had the chicken pho. I saw huge a huge crowd here and decided to go in since I could not find Banh Cuon Pho. There were a lot of French people here. The pho was very salty. The dark pho sauce tasted weird. I should have tried the places in the Vietnamese mall on Rue d'Ivry or next time I will try the other dishes. read more

I ordered banh canh tom gio heo and it tastes exactly like what I had in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam as a kid. Not only was it nostalgic but also so very tasty. My husband agrees that Song Huong was really good too. I would definitely come back when we visit Paris nezt time and would recommend to everyone. read more

Really great service! I'm glad we came here when they opened at 12pm. This place got packed pretty quickly. The food was so soooo good. No wifi I believe and it's cash only. There were so many locals here too! I got the beef pho. I left sooo full because I got the full portion. Also: DONT WEAR white or silk here like I did. You will get oil/spice stains on it. read more

The pho here is good, the noodles a great texture (a bit al dente) and the meat very tasty. On the door they tell you where the beef comes from: France, Spain and Germany. Tastes super fresh. However, my only complaint is that the broth is noticeably saltier than most places. The flavour was good but if only it wasn't overpowered by the saltiness. 9e for a bowl of DELICIOUS pho! Born and raised in bolsa Orange county, i was craving some pho on a cold day. Ordered the pho tai and it was fantastic. The meat were perfect bite size. The broth was so light and savory. Worth every penny. Also ordered the Che bap ( sweet corn dessert w/ coconut milk), it was lovely. They have the best bo bun I have had in France or in the U.S.A. On the menu it is #9; it comes with beef but they will give it to you with pork if you ask for it. Also: the best soup is #12, soupe de Tourane; it's a pork-based broth with yellow rice noodles, crushed peanuts, rice crackers a ton of fresh herbs. It comes served with wedges of lime. I think the other reviewers (who found the food OK), probably just didn't order right. As for the pho, I love love their pho de poulet (chicken), with a light and delicate broth. Compared the more famous vietnamese place next door, this place is MUCH more friendly and the service is better as well. As for the other reviewer's assertion that this place is touristy and expensive, I think not. It's full of locals; the tourists go next door, to Pho 13, which features pho only and is not really that good. As for the cost: at 8 EUR for the bo bun (#9) and 8.50 for the Soupe de Tourane (#12), you would be hard-pressed to find a better deal in all of Paris. read more
