Such a nice woman! She's located in the skyway downtown minneapolis so it's a perfect spot to get your clothing altered while you work. Her hours are very reasonable and she's willing to stay later to meet your needs. Reasonably priced as well. With extreme hesitation, I had her alter/do a few adjustments on my wedding dress and I was very pleased with the end result. She offered several fittings and made it look exactly how I wanted it to look. She delivered on time and was very professional and personable. My only complaints is that her shop is quite open and everyone who was walking by could see me in my dress, and her shop could use a little tidying up. But overall, I would definitely bring more clothing to her, because I know it's in good hands! read more

Not particularly impressed. I asked them to emergency hem a Nicole Miller gown for a weekend event. When I brought it home, clearly nothing had been done! The dress was dragging on the floor. I ended up wearing another gown instead. I took the same gown back requesting either a refund or to have the original work done (which I had already paid $65.00 for). They agreed not to charge me again and do the work. I went back today (2 weeks later) to pick up the gown. The response I received, "Sorry I forgot. Can you come back tomorrow?" Hoping I get it tomorrow. But my assumption is the work won't be good or not done at all. I am not impressed with them at all. I will be finding another tailor in the future. read more

I've been going to Song for years and every time I have some work done I'm sure to get the pricing up front because it always changes... I took three shirts in for some tailoring last week. I gave Song a shirt she previously tailored for me and charged $40 for which i thought was pretty steep as a model for what i wanted done on the 3 shirts I was bringing in... She told me these shirts would not be much but that she would let me know once i picked them up. I picked up the shirts today and the total price tag was $186.00 for alterations on three shirts that cost $50 a piece at Macy's. I told Song the pricing was outrageous and there was no way i was paying that price. She told me the price had not changes which is a lie given the shirt i gave her to match the alterations was $40 a month ago! The price always changes at this establishment... Long story short...Song Tailoring is bad news....buyer...beware!!! read more

Song Tailoring is great! They are wicked fast, do quality work, and are reasonably priced. I have taken profession/social clothes there about once a month for two years to have sewed, tailored, patched, etc and they can generally have the item back to you in a day or two. If you are a skyway regular they are easy to find between the macy's skyway and the skyway to the YMCA. read more

Song came very highly recommended, so when I needed a dress substantially taken in for a wedding (and the woman at another highly recommended place, Tailors of Edina, seemed uncertain that she could do a good job on it), I hopped on a bus to downtown. As someone else pointed out in a previous review, the pricing seemed pretty arbitrary, and was nearly $50 more than the other place I'd checked out (who also seemed like she was making the numbers up as I stood there). Since it is a bridesmaid dress for my best friend's wedding, I opted to bit the bullet on the extra scratch and go with the person who seemed confident in being able to do it well. She insisted on payment up front, though I only put down half because there was no way I was about to hand her $200+ without seeing the quality of work. She told me to come back in a week, I rearranged my schedule to get downtown, and when I walked in she hadn't even started it. The next day, I rearranged my schedule again to go in for a second refit, and the dress didn't even come close to fitting well. Boning in the bust gave me a very bizarre shape, which she tried to convince me looked great. (It did not.) There were numerous other issues with the fit, so I agreed to go back in again the next day for a second refit. I walked in at precisely the time we'd agreed upon and ended up sitting around for 15-20 minutes because it still needed enough work that I couldn't try it on yet. She had fixed some of the problems, but the bust still looked a bit wonky (which she told me was due to the pleats and she couldn't do anything about) and a ribbon at the empire waist didn't sit flat, which she assured me she could fix. So I went back in AGAIN two days later to pick it up and make sure it was done well, only to find that the bust was too tight, giving me that weird boob-shelf, the ribbon STILL bunches oddly and doesn't sit flat, and the pleats across the bust were no longer symmetrical. After dismissing her suggestion that I simply "wear a shawl or sweater over it," I ended up sitting around for another 40 minutes while she let the bust out, but did not fix any of the other issues, effectively telling me that it was as good as it was going to get. Since I had to get on a plane in 36 hours to go to the wedding, I didn't really have a lot of options but to at least get my dress back. After all of that, I tried negotiating with her for a reduction in price and the most that she would offer was 15% off. When I said it was unacceptable and felt that it would take at least 20% to make me okay with it, she agreed but then tried to say that it was only on the BALANCE left on the bill, not off the actual amount. I pointed out that the dress had several issues in the fit, and that for $200 I expected a dress that fit like a glove, to which she simply said "that material is hard to work with." She had no response to the fact that she'd agreed to do the work (and would have known perfectly well how hard it was to work with upon taking it), and that she had had a week in which to work on it and had forgotten, in addition to the multiple trips downtown I had to take and the time I spent sitting around while she did work. Nothing doing. Left with no other option, I paid the balance and took my dress, at which point she tried really hard to convince me how much she appreciated me as a customer. Apparently not enough that it was worth the extra $25 to get me to walk away happy enough to not write this review, though. Pricing aside, I'm sure that the positive reviews for people dealing with zippers, hems, etc. are probably spot on. But for me, she apparently bit off more than she could chew and instead of being honest that she couldn't do a good job on it, she charged me a ridiculous amount and did a job that was mediocre at best, while refusing to acknowledge how much of an inconvenience it had been for me. P.S. While I was there, another girl came in to do a refit on a bridesmaid dress, and she had messed that one up, too. I sure hope hers ends up better than mine did. read more

Brought in a pair of pants to get hemmed. Come back to pick up my pants and they can't be found and was told to come back. After coming back 3 times still no pants and they accused me of picking them up already since the ticket on the pants was in a pile... That's great, I still have my receipt, ticket and no pants. Terrible customer service, quick to blame me instead of taking responsibility of giving them to the wrong person. They refused to give me my money back and pay for my pants. After arguing for several minutes they partially refunded me for my pants, but refused to repay my hemming fee of $20 because it was still performed on pants that I will never see again. Makes no sense. Horrible experience, NEVER doing business with them again! read more

I went to pretty much every seamstress and dry cleaning/seamstress in the skyway trying to find someone that could resize my bridesmaid dress. Everywhere besides Song's tried to charge me $250-$350 to pull out the dress 3 inches and take some length from the hem; they also indicated that I would either need an off-color zipper put in the dress or a corset becuase there wasn't enough fabric. Song was very helpful and 1/3 the price; my total was $105. She was able to pull the dress out MORE than I needed, so not sure what any of the other tailors were talking of. However, she insisted that I asked her to take an extra inch off of the bottom, so my dress did not cover my shoes when I picked it up (I did NOT ask for that); it was an outside wedding, so we ended up going barefoot thank goodness. She also added in a different colored zipper; which was never mentioned to me and definitely not needed since she had already pulled my dress out too far. Overall, I guess it was the quality I paid for. Apparently you just need to be VERY clear in what you want. I would still bring more clothing to Song and would recommend her to others, just would demand every move made on the dress is called on first. read more

I started going here after passing it by a few times in the skyway. I couldn't have made a better choice. Not only are her prices competitive but her turnaround time is second to none. Pants are always hemmed in no more than 2 days. When I dropped off my most recent pair of pants, I overheard a woman who was there to get two zippers replaced on jackets shocked at how quickly she could turn around the finished garments. For comparison, I just dropped off a pair of pants I purchased at Macy's to be hemmed and for a dollar less than what Song charges I can wait an additional 8 DAYS for it to be finished. I think I will always bring my garments to Song for alterations. read more

they have become INCREDIBLY expensive. They charged $140 to take in a winter coat and shorten the sleeves. I won't be going back.

The owner is nice and gracious! She is a great tailor. The only issue I had was when she was out of town, took my clothes in and it was not done well! There was a language barrier with her staff. But I went back to her and explain I was not please and she re-did the work without further charge. read more
