We went straight to the Assessor's and Recorder's Office to hand in the completed application. BUT...a couple of weeks later when I went back to SF City Hall to get the marriage certificate, they said that we made a mistake and handed in an application that had a slight tear on the lower right and that the State office will reject the paperwork. They wanted Dyanna to show up again and do more paperwork and pay a fee. My wife and I got married at City Hall in April 2022. We were supposed to get married there April 1, 2020, but the April Fool's joke was on us. Cynthia was helpful from the start. Back in 2019, she met with us at City Hall back when we were there to get our wedding license. She asked questions and provided several sample scripts when it was clear that we didn't have a firm idea of the type of ceremony we wanted. When City Hall cancelled weddings because of the pandemic, Cynthia promptly refunded our deposit. But once the City reopened, we rebooked and rescheduled. We don't live in San Francisco, so Cynthia met with us over Zoom to finalize the ceremony. She had great ideas because she's been officiating weddings for decades. My wife and I wrote part of our own vows, and she looked those over beforehand as well. Many people from different walks of life attended our ceremony - some were religious and were used to church weddings, others may have shown up to our wedding after mimosas in the Castro - but people from both camps complimented Cynthia and her work that day.
