Everything! Best day ever!! Captain Kevin was great! Visited BVI's Jost and Norman... just a perfect day.

We booked a private charter for a group of 7 and Sonic charters gave us the best day on the island. The captain gave us some suggestions for a snorkeling excursion and took us to some of his hidden gems. We stopped by a beach for lunch and did some sight seeing with caves where he told us some stories about the attractions. The level of accommodation was also stellar as he was able to be flexible with our needs. Some of our friends were sea sick and requested to be dropped off a beach to relax and picked up later. The captain planned our day around that and helped to keep time of when we would go pick up our friends. The coral reefs were so vibrant and we saw so many fishes in the ocean. The captain made us feel safe that he has our back in case we swayed too far from the boat or needed help. I am not a swimmer but the boat had noodles and life jackets that he did not mind taking out and putting away as we went about our day. I appreciated how respectful the captain was about the island and the rules implemented such as reef safe sunscreens, no touching the turtles and so on. We had a great time and learned a thing or two! Towards the end of the trip a friend realized he had forgotten something on the boat and sonic charters helped us locate the boat and captain to retrieve it. Coming from nyc, it would have been long gone but glad we got it back. We had a great time, I would recommend them for anyone visiting and want their own boat to get away from the crowds. read more

Captain Gus was super flexible with our itinerary. Gus was very knowledgeable about the islands and kept us up to speed on everything we were passing, stopping at, and what we might see. You can tell he has a lot of sea experience too. He took us to a few spots that are more of his secret spots which was nice. Gus went out of his way and took pictures on his phone and sent them to us by the end of the day trip. We highly recommend you go on this day trip and ask for Gus! read more

Our full day boat rental on the Enchantment was amazing. Captain Nate and his first mate Jill were friendly and helpful. The boat was clean with a bathroom and a kitchen to keep our food. The captain explained safety measures to take on the boat to ensure a fun day in the sun. Snorkeling attire, noodles and a floating party pad were available for all to use. We brought snacks, drinks and ice. The day before we ordered sandwiches from the little cafe called Hole-in-a-Wall that is right at the marina. The boat traveled around St. John and stopped for us to jump in and snorkel. Great day with new and old friends! read more

We had a wonderful day trip with Sonic Charters. We were a group of 8 ranging from age 2 to 67. Captain Moose was fantastic all around. We visited both BVI as well as St. John. Moose showed off some skilled maneuvering both with his handling of some windy chop and our moorings at Soggy Dollar and Sandy Spit. He was great with the kids and grandparents alike. The boat was well kept and comfy, and Moose made the trip a 5 star day. (And his music taste is on point as well) read more

Highlight of my guest's trip. As a virgin islander, i had the opportunity to really ask around prior to selecting Sonic Charters for a trip with family and friends. It was a spectacular morning snorkeling and a lovely afternoon on tortola then jost van dyke. The captain made everyone so comfortable. I do not know how the day could have been any better... What a first class operation. From the woman on the phone that was excessively reachable and overly responsive to the quality boat that they sent out with a very cool captain. We have come to st John quite a bit and I am only sorry we didn't know them before. As someone who has tried many of the operators on the island (many of whom are good mind you) I would tell you that you should stop reading reviews and just book with these folks. We have been to St John twice and both times took a day trip with Sonic and Captain Gus. He is outstanding in every way. First of all he's just a good guy who treats you more like family than just a customer. He's extremely knowledgeable and also very patient. If you don't know a lot about snorkeling he will take the time to teach you and help you. He took us to some awesome out of the way places in the BVI - like one of the other reviewers said, his secret places - and that just added to the experience. I cannot recommend Sonic, and particularly Gus, more strongly. You will be guaranteed to have an unforgettable day. read more

Worth every single penny and more!! We came in on a cruise and wanted to maximize our time and quality on the beautiful waters/beaches near St. Thomas. This charter was multiple excursions all in one! We stopped at several beaches, snorkeled, had lunch on a beautiful beach, went to turtle bay and toured islands. Our Captain, Don, was just awesome, informative, funny, and safe and played great music. It was a VERY rough day on the water but he made it a piece of cake...it got sporty! We had the boat to ourselves! HIGHLY recommend this boat charter no matter how you are travelling to the Virgin Islands... just do it. We did the all-day charter, book ahead with Carrie...Book it!! read more

Sonic Charters and Captain Don gave us a memory of a lifetime . We visited some cool places that we didn't even know existed ( not on the typical tourist list) - we saw sea turtles, a shipwreck, jumped off cliffs and had amazing tacos at a secluded beach. WOW! Just book your next trip with them. You will not be sorry! They have amazing crew, boat and equipment. They took care of everything! We had an incredible day on the boat with Chris, despite the weather! Carrie was nice enough to do some shopping for us prior. The weather was not the best but Chris dodged the storms and took us on a great tour with some history along the way. We originally planned to see BVI but didn't bring passports (duh!) so we regrouped and toured the US VI. Next time when we come back we will be booking with them again! Captain Gus and Jordan were amazing! We had a beautiful day touring the US and BVIs. If you are looking for a perfect way to see and do the best of what the Virgin Islands offer, a day with Captain Gus is it. We snorkeled, ate lunch on a pirate ship (Willy T's...also amazing) and closed out the day at a swim up bar (the Soggy Dollar...home of the Painkiller). The views of the islands from the boat were awesome, and the water was absolutely perfect. I cannot say enough, thank you for helping make this getaway amazing!! read more

We had a group of 11 of us. This was hands down one of the best experiences we've had on vacation. We're still talking about it 8 months after we went on our trip. Transportation to the harbor is super easy. Sonic lined up a driver for us. He was there promptly waiting for us, with a sign with the last name for our party. Drove us to the harbor, introduced us to our captain for the day, then easily found our charter for the day. After all the paperwork was signed - we were off. It was so great - Sonic stocked our charter with soda and water for the day. We visited the BVI, went snorkeling at a few spots, visited the white sands and stopped off at Soggy Dollar for a few adult beverages (painkillers rock!!). The choice in destinations we wanted to go to was plentiful which we had full control over. We chose to see the local favorites. We like to place an emphasis on local in our lives and chose that. The day was capped off with seeing the turtles swim near St. John and ordering some pizza from Pizza Pi. This was an amazing experience - and I can't wait to do it again! read more

We had such a great day on Monday with Captain Nate that we decided to book another day later in the week with Sonic Charters and with him! There were four of us and there was more than enough room. The boat was in beautiful shape and Captain Nate made the ride a great time. The sound system on board was awesome and we were able to play our music but he had a fun selection as well for our partying! It was a little rough, moreso on the second day (due to what I think they call the Christmas winds), but we barely noticed. I get seasick occasionally but Nate did such a great job that I didn't either day! The first day we planned to go to Jost Van Dyke and Christmas Cove and Nate suggested another bay to see some sea turtles; it was an amazingly beautiful trip. The second day we just asked Nate to take us around to wherever he chose but wanted to stay in the USVI to avoid the BVI customs fees. I don't remember the names of all of the places but each one was unique and a great experience. For certain, we stopped by St John and Magen's Bay and another one where he said we could stand with one foot in the Caribbean Sea and the other in the Atlantic which was pretty cool. The cost was reasonable and competitive - the gas was about $250 the first day and closer to $300 the second day - part of this was also due to them picking us up and dropping us off where we were staying on Water Island, a good deal away from Red Hook, but it was very convenient. It was expensive but we really saw a TON and felt like it was well worth it! I would recommend it for anyone visiting the islands and will certainly do it again! Really great charter group to go out with!! Great communication before hand, fantastic suggestions and a really great captain. With spent the day celebrating 2 birthdays with family and friends onboard with Patrick, who we will request next time we take a boat out with Sonic for the day. A great day on the water under the care of CAPT Don. This was a 4hr charter for 3 couples and we visited several USVI islands, coves, beaches, snorkeling spots. CAPT Don asked what we wanted to do and he met all of our desires. He is also a great tour guide, history teacher, DJ, raconteur...all on this 4hr adventure. This was the highlight of our trip to the Caribbean. Do not waste your time researching other options for a day on the water. Carrie made it super easy to book/organize. Oh, and the 31ft powerboat with two 300HP Yamaha outboards was seriously fun too. read more

I looked at NUMEROUS reviews for private charters. There was just the 2 of us and we wanted the boat all to ourselves to explore the USVIs and BVIs. I had actually already booked 2 others, but after speaking to Carrie, canceled those and went with Sonic- so glad I did! What is so awesome is that they picked us up right on the beach at the Ritz (I think this is only an option if you stay here, but nonetheless a HUGE plus for us!), and also we got to completely pick our itinerary. I was not that familiar with the islands, so I let Chris, our captain know the spots I had read about and with that info, he guided us in the right direction for the entire day. The weather was not the greatest when we left but we boated through it and found the sun at the Baths, where he used his knowledge to guide us in there in the opposite directions of the crowds! He was SO knowledgeable about all of the great quiet beaches and special spots for snorkeling and spotting turtles, ocean life, etc. As we boated he pointed out famous beaches, islands, restaurants, etc. It was awesome and he was so personable we asked him to join us for lunch at a secluded beach bar he found! We enjoyed an awesome quiet carribean lunch and some shopping. Rounded off the great day at Foxys and Soggy Dollar with some sunset snorkeling on the way back. We were having so much fun we extended the trip by another hour that day and called back the next day to book for another day that week (but unfortunately they were booked). Next year I will be sure to book Sonic for 2 days atleast! Carrie was a delight to work with. I can't say enough! We got one of their shirts and wear it proudly back home! A++++++ read more

We had the best day in St. Thomas with Sonic Charters. Our group of 12 - 6 adults, 6 kids spent the day snorkeling, swimming, laying out and even had pizza delivered to the boat. Great experience and I would highly recommend and will use again. read more

My wife and I had the great pleasure of booking a full day charter with Sonic Charters out of St. Thomas, USVI, in May, 2017. We were with Captain Gus, and he was superb! Because the waters were kind of choppy, we adjusted our itinerary and headed to a couple of secluded bays on St. John for snorkeling. At the first, we saw sea turtles, rays, and lots of fish. At the second location we saw a shark, hawksbill turtle, rays, fish, and an amazing fan coral bed...bright purple and in great condition...what a treat! We then headed to Tortola and had a cocktail at Foxy's before meandering down the beach to Corsairs. What a find! The owner, Captain Vinny, was there and he was great, along with all of his staff! The food was amazing...definitely several notches above "bar fare." We will return as soon as possible! We then headed to Jost Van Dyke and the Soggy Dollar Bar, for one (or more) of their legendary Painkillers. Captain Gus was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He was open to taking us where we wanted to go, but also had great suggestions of his own. The boat was pristine...and very comfortable for the day! We would recommend Sonic Charters to anyone who wants to have a fun day on the water down in the Virgin Islands! read more

HAD A BLAST!!!!! Capt Gus was the best captain ever!! We started the day at Little Saint James island, where the kids saw their first turtle while snorkeling. Then we went to St. John's where we all enjoyed 5 butts beach, snorkeling some of the best beaches. From there we sailed to Jost Van Dyke and ate at the Soggy Dollar Cafe and hung out. A friend of mine used this company and was so thrilled with her experience that I opted to use Sonic Charters, including requesting the same captain. Carrie was who I corresponded with via email before my trip to STT. She was incredibly professional and accommodating. Capt Chris was our awesome captain for the day. He is a local so he was great to have as a tour guide as well. Upon picking us up at our resort, he discussed with us what we wanted to do for the day and gave us a ton of options. We opted for swimming with turtles and snorkeling for a bit before having a boozy lunch followed by boozy beach bar hopping. Sonic Charters was awesome. We did some research prior to arriving in St. Thomas and had come across Sonic Charters. Through several emails we got a good feeling about the company and decided to book the day out when we arrived on the island. Captain Chris picked us up right off the beach at the Ritz Carlton hotel we stayed at. It was just three of us that went on the charter and there was so much room on the boat. There are bean bags you can sit on and enjoy the boat ride in comfort. The two main spots we visited were the Baths at Virgin Gorda and Sandy Pit. Chris was great and filled in the gaps with some other really cool spots. While he filled out custom paperwork, he took us to a little hidden gem off St. John and we snorkeled with turtles and fish. The snorkeling gear was provided and good quality. For lunch we stopped at Beef Island and ate at The Loose Mongoose which was delicious. On the way back to our hotel, he showed us some awesome rock formations where pirates used as cannon practice. Overall we had an amazing day and we didn't want it to end. Next time we return we will definitely be booking multiple days on the charter! read more

We chartered a day trip through Sonic Charters during our recent trip to St Thomas. Our group included my husband, sister, brother and wife, and 6 year old niece. Could not have been happier with our experience! Carrie was wonderful to work with...making sure we had all of the information needed to start our day. Captain 'Moose' was the best......bringing us to a great snorkeling spot, recommending lobster quesadillas for lunch on Jost Van Dyke (they were awesome!!), attending to our 6 year old passenger, and showing us his diving skills at Wet Willys. We will be booking with Sonic Charters again the next time we are in the USVI! read more
