So I've read a ton of terrible reviews for this place but I always shrugged them off because I've never had a bad experience, that is... UNTIL TONIGHT! Nothing that awful happened. We just ordered and they were out of what I wanted, so I ordered something else. And we waited. And waited. And waited. We sat there watching one of the workers get picked up. I heard one worker inside fooling around and talking to people through the drive thru intercom. Still, I didn't lose faith! This Sonic always takes a long time, sooooo we waited. And waited. And eventually they turned their lights off. They closed on us. With me sitting there, exact change in hand, excited and eager. I drive around to the drive through and sit for another minute thinking the girl I see in the drive thru window might be busy. No one tells me they are closed until after 15 minutes of me wasting my time and I google their schedule. The girl watching me fir almost 15 minutes sitting there and having pressed the button could have said I've the. Speaker voice that it was closed. Especially since all their TVs were still. On allowing you to start an order just saying button activated please wait while we come to you. All this while I'm on my limited lunch while working here. Now I have no lunch. I understand being closed but don't leave your TVs on and give me the assumption you guys are on your way to take my order. This place sucks. I was coming from Yucca Valley and desperately wanted something cold and amazing. Honestly the shake I got was BOMB but the service was so bad, I wanted to punch myself in the face. I waited 15 minutes for ONE SHAKE. I wanted to leave and get my money back and even rang their little bell in the car lot a few times telling them to bring me my money back. I was so annoyed. I got told "your shake is coming now" to not have it come and not have it come.........ARGH! I did eventually get a large instead of a small for free because of the wait but honestly, what the heck happened!!!??? Service was out of control horrible. Not going back. One star because this "campfire blast" is pretty damn good. But the speed (or lack there of) in the drive through and getting the wrong order after twenty minutes means minus 4 others! We went at 2:30 so there was not a lunch rush slowing them down. We ordered in the drive through and then we sat. I had time to walk to the el pollo loco on the other side of the lot, order, get my food, get back in the car and eat it and my husband was still waiting for his one drink and one chicken wrap. I decide to pull into a stall so I can eat in my car. After looking over the menu I press the red button. Nothing. Hmm maybe I didn't push hard enough, I push it again. Nothing. About the time I'm ready to give up and hit the drive through one of the carhops comes out to deliver food a couple stalls from me. Before going back inside she asks, "Have you ordered?". Together we determine the button is broken. She takes my order without writing it down and off she goes. When my meal arrives it is exactly what I ordered! You are amazing! my husband and I decided to get Sonic on our way home, but opted to go through the drive through since we had our two toddlers with us. we sat at the intercom for a good 10 minutes, and no one responded. no quick greeting, nothing. then, we decided that we would just go to a stall and order there since it would be quicker, right? My friends and I always make it a point to stop here on our way to Vegas. It has become a tradition. I think we've only eaten in the car once. We always end up stepping out of the car to place our orders. I've tried the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Wrap, and Tots. Their food is good, but I don't deem it to be anything amazing. What I enjoy the most at Sonic is their Slushes. I've only tried the Green Apple and Watermelon Slushes, but I heart them. It's the best to go during Happy Hour (every day at 2-4PM) because their drinks and slushes are half off. Mind you that some drinks are excluded from this Happy Hour. The main manager is so rude , she always has a attitude towards the customer she charges for water cups ,extra Sauce and for extra condiments. This place is mostly known for their drinks but I love that they are open late night. They have this footlong hot dog that is covered with chili cheese that is very popular. Holy cow this place was hopping on a Friday night with 1/2 price milkshakes! The drive-thru was our first choice but it was jammed, so we parked. It was a long wait, but what a deal. So I ordered a Hamburger I guess the name of their burger is super sonic and I told them no cheese because I said hamburger and when I went up to get my order I checked it and it had cheese. I told the girl at the window and she looked at me like I was speaking Chinese! I am out in Lucerne Valley quite a bit for offroading, but have never stopped into this joint until this past week. It's a novel idea, so my passengers and I decided to stop in after a day in the dirt. Figured it was a Wednesday at 4pm so there wouldn't be any crowds, and we were able to pull right in and find a slot. Then the 4 star visit dropped down to 3 stars. One of my passengers asked a carhop girl to use the restroom, and the girl replied, "Don't have a key on me, and we are busy." as she took off about her business. Again, this was on a Wednesday early afternoon with maybe 6 stalls occupied where we were parked. Luckily, someone was coming out of the restroom and held the door open for my passenger. During our 30 minute stay, the carhop never returned to check and see if we still needed the restroom key. Guess they were THAT busy. We were hungry, so we brushed it off and ordered. The food came quickly and the order was accurate, and we dug in. Then the 3 stars dropped down to 2 stars. Granted it's fast food, so we were not expecting anything ground breaking, but the tater tots and popcorn chicken tasted like someone had spilled the whole can of salt on them. Spent half the time dusting the food off, but eventually gave up and threw it away. Luckily, the rest of the order was enough to calm my hunger and needing to make the trek back home to L.A. we cut our losses and took off. I will give this spot one more chance on one of my next treks out there only for the sake of the tater tots, but I definitely need to tell them no salt. read more

We stopped here for lunch after coming down from Big Bear. We always see commercials for Sonic, but there are none close enough to us to make us venture out to try it. Glad we finally got the chance to check one out. They serve their whole menu all day, so my son ordered french toast stick, my daughter ordered a crispy chicken sandwich w/just lettuce and i decided to try a Chicago dog. We used the drive in and the lady said she'd be out w/our order promptly. It wasn't exactly promptly delivered, but it came out w/in 20 minutes and we tore into our order. Everything was hot, so that starts off great. My Chicago dog was excellent...even had sport peppers on it...although there was no radiator green relish. Juicy and full of flavor. My daughter enjoyed her chicken sandwich and i got a couple bites that she couldn't finish. It was good as well. My son ate all his french toast sticks and said they were delicious. On our way home, we stopped at the Sonic Burger in Victorville. We drove up to the car stall and pressed the button to order. After waiting 10 minutes, I found somebody and asked how we order, he said to press the button and wait. Finally, after 15 minutes, somebody took our order. Please note that there were no other cars in the car stall and 3 cars in the drive thru. After we placed our order, I used the restroom which was completely out of toilet paper and dirtier than most gas station bathrooms. The trashcan at the outside table was overflowing and trash was everywhere. Unbussed tables added to the disgusting eating area. We ordered 2 shakes and waited another 15 minutes to get them. There were approximately 7 employees that were not doing much, so it would seem that we could get our simple order a little quicker. When I inquired about our order, he said that he was working on it. The next thing I see is that same employee walking out side with his own shake (obviously on break) and there we waited. When I told the employee about the bathroom and showed him the overflowing trash and dirty tables, he looked at me and had not response. As this is my first experience with Sonic, it will definitely be my last. If the health department came in, that establishment would be shut down immediately. read more

Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. My family was on the way home and decided to stop by at around 8 pm. We ordered dinner for four people, and they actually gave us our order a lot faster than I was expecting. Everything was hot and tasted great! This place is a joke. The drive thru has been closed 3 times this week due to faulty equipment. They are extremely slow. When I asked one of the employees what his favorite item was, he laughed and said there's no way he'd eat here! Seriously! Fortunately, I'm also not a fan of the food. I'm only here for the ice! Went for a late lunch today and my fiance ordered a shake with his meal. When he picked it up to take a drink for the 1st time, the lid popped off & the shake spilled all over him, his car seat, & car floor. The employees were not understanding or helpful with this AT ALL. He had shake all over himself & the car and when he went to get a towel to wipe himself & the car up, all they kept saying was you cannot come inside. They were not apologetic, they did give him 2 blue paper towels which, unfortunately, did not help much. They also did not offer to replace the shake. I went to talk to them, since he was extremely upset, and I told them they needed to remake the shake. The employee then told me it was his fault because he squeezed the cup. How do they know he squeezed the cup? You cannot just assume this is the case & if this happens enough for them to know this is possible, they should tell people to be careful when picking up the shake. This is horrible customer service! In addition, the card reader at the stall we were at, #10, did not work and it was difficult to understand the person taking the order due to the speaker. This I would have over looked if the shake incident did not occur. If this was my establishment, I would have told the customer I was sorry for the mishap and offered to remake the shake, regardless of whether it was their fault or not. Needless to say, we WILL NOT be returning to this Sonic EVER. read more

DO NOT come here during "Happy Hour"because there's absolutely nothing happy about it. The layout for the customers is horrible and you get trapped in there due to the long lines from the drive thru. Don't even think about parking and ordering because it's not faster. I ordered two drinks no special drinks and I sat there for almost 10 minutes trapped by other vehicles and still didn't get my drinks.
