I have given this sonic several chances, and have finally given up. The service is terrible and extremely slow and the employees are careless with your order. First visit here: the drive through line is super long and moving at a snails pace. Because I'm in a bit of a hurry I stop in a stall. It takes a good 6 min or so before anyone answers to take my order. 15 min later I have still not received my drink, and I realize it would have been faster to stay in the drive through. I finally get my drink and the girl who brought it for me didn't bring me a straw. I ask for one and she says she will be right back with it. After waiting another 5 minutes I just left and grabbed a straw from a gas station up the street. Second visit: I go through the drive through and order a medium diet cherry limeade. I am encouraged to order a large because its happy hour so I agree. I verify with the employee who hands me my drink that it is, indeed, diet as I am type 1 diabetic and consuming more than a few sips of non diet soda is incredibly dangerous for me. I leave, consume my large drink, and realize shortly after that they made a mistake and gave me a regular cherry limeade. My blood sugars were 5-6 times what they should be, my day was ruined and I'm lucky I was able to bring my sugars down without going to the hospital. Third visit : I am on bike so I go to the walk up order thing. I press the button. It blinks saying someone will be with me shortly, then times out. I press it again. Again it times out. One more time and I'm ready to leave when someone finally answers. I ask for my usual, medium diet cherry limeade. Total was $0.96 (I love happy hour) and the drink arrives quickly enough. I give the man a dollar and he hands me a grossly over flowing drink with pink soda spilling all down the sides. I ask for some napkins and he leaves to get me some. Several minutes later comes back with napkins, helps a few other people and then says to me "oh, did you want change for your dollar?" Now, I'm not picky over 4 cents but I find it rude that change wasn't offered to me in the first place. I've given this place 3 chances and I don't think it will get any more from me. read more

There's this magical thing called a Vanilla Dr. Pepper. And where can you find this mysterious drink you ask? Why at Sonic of course! Try it. It will change your life. I'm serious. What you should REALLY do (for the complete experience) is go to a show at The Gothic Theatre down the street and then hit Sonic up on your way home. Don't worry, they're open until midnight (in the winter), even though they may turn the lights off a little before that. It may be advantageous to *not* go through the drive-thru. I've come to like Sonic lately, and in particular this location. Close to the Gothic Theater, it's perfect for post-show munchies (or any other kind of munchies, really). The tots are awesome. It seems like the later it is (the drive-thru is open til 2 or so), the fresher the food is. And did I mention it's cheap? A trip through the Sonic Drive through has always been about one of two things for me - the Route 44 diet cherry limeades or the tater tots. If I had to pick between the two, it would really have to be the tots that would win my heart. Hands down. I love me some tots. I like them plain. I like them dipped in ketchup (catsup?) or ranch dressing. I especially like them covered in chili and grated bright orange American cheese. All right, truth time, here. Raise your right hand if you feel like you're too grown up to be enjoying a childhood classic like the tot. Not me! There's just something about the tater tot that convinces you that it is superior to the french fry, the hash brown, or the cowboy potatoes. I can't even say that it truly DOES taste better, I just know that I FEEL like it tastes better, and isn't that what counts? I'm not even from Denver, I was only visiting here for a quick weekend trip, and was honestly just pulling through the drive through to get one of their famous cherry limeades on the way to the airport headed home to California. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that they had SWEET POTATO TOTS! OMG! Sweet potatoes are one of my all time favorite things on earth, so I HAD to try some of these beauties. Yes, they were truly amazing, these little bites of heaven ready to be popped into one's mouth! It was my classic tot, but with a little sweet twist to them that was just perfection! When I got home I discovered they've arrived here now, too. How could I have missed their arrival? Not a clue, but I'll always remember this particular Denver based Sonic as being the one to introduce us. Take that, Napolean Dynomite! Took a few minutes to get on the same page with the drive thru person just asking about the special... all around dumb experience. Horrible experience at this location. I ordered delivery of my lunch. I received a burger without meat but double cheese; basically a cold cheese sandwich with pickles. That's not what I ordered. My onion rings were cold and greasy. They got my drink right though. Horrible customer service. Just sat in the drive thru to have someone take our order and then never respond afterwards. Sat for 10 minutes waiting for a response, pulled forward and the teen at the window told us they had closed. It was 9:02pm at this point we had placed our order before closing they chose not to respond or communicate that they wouldn't be fulfilling our order which had been placed prior to closing and just let us sit there. Food was fresh, great customer service.I will probably not go back after today. Today the guy didn't get my order right, forgot to give me my tots so i went back. The cheese tots were $3 and it was the size of a mini. Also no whip cream on the sonic blast which he stated that's the new poilcy for that item. Didn't even show it on the menu, you just find out when you get to the window. So i paid $5 basically for ice cream. Maybe it was an off day or they have new crappy management. Upon pushing he order button, we were pleasantly greeting within about 30 seconds. The speed was keen, as was the guys attitude who greeted us. I park at a stall and call to let them know and they send the same guy out who made them. He was so high on whatever drugs he was on he just stared at me and didn't say anything and then pretended he didn't know who made them when I saw him do it. I went to this Sonic hoping to get the same good, reliable, regular service I receive from most Sonic locations. Sadly that would not be the case as this place is run by ineffective high school drop outs and barely functioning morons. I pulled into a stall and looked at my options. I hit the red button to let them know I was ready to order. Suddenly the speaker came to life and a mid-to-late-teens overly unenthusiastic voice greeted me with "Ummm our stalls are closed. You have to go through the drive-thru." "Okay!" I said. I pulled into the drive through lane and ordered. "Can I get a number sixteen COMBO with an ocean breeze drink?" "Sure. Can I get you anything else?" "Yes I'll also have a corn dog." "Your total comes out to $7.07. Please drive around to the 2nd window." Seems like an easy exchange right? Well the MENSA candidate that took my order still managed to phuck it up. As I was handed my food I noticed there were no tater-tots in my bag. "I asked for the number sixteen combo. Where are my tots?" The blank expression on the pimply faced teen belied a look of both utter confusion and a complete lack of indifference that even I had to step back and admire for a brief moment. It was quite breathtaking. "Doooo you want tots then?" "Yes!" I said, handing him my credit card all the while trying not to look pissed. Instead of offering me free tots for his screw-up I wait another two minutes for my tots. I drove one block and stopped to check the tots. Sure enough they were harder than a @#$%& hockey puck which leads me to believe they took old tots and just microwaved them. Its a favorite "phuck you" tactic of fast food culinary workers the world over. I was on to their petty little game. I contemplated going back and asking for some new tater tots but you and I both know the "boys in the back" probably would have cooked up a "bookaki-style" special full of so much raw DNA it would keep the boys at the CSI crime lab busy for months so I simply threw them away and left. So in conclusion there's a reason this Sonic has less than 2 stars. Its run horribly and if you happen to look at them cross eyed or ask them to fix an order that THEY screwed up they'll most likely climax into your chili-cheese dog or wipe their greasy taints with your Texas Toast breakfast sandwich. Can't give a zero. Absolutely the worst Sonic in all of Denver!!! We arrived @ 3:50 pm for happy hour on a 99 degree day. We push the alert button immediately and waited and waited and waited. @ 4:20 we decided to go through the drive thru. They said happy hour was over. While we were waiting for the 30 minutes we observed a young lady approached the employee entrance and punch in a code. She walked in to talk to the employees. She walked out and went to her car and grabbed her puppy and went back to the employee door. Many employees came to hold and play with the dog. Meanwhile, we are still waiting to place an order. After 40 minutes of waiting and having an employee tell us we couldn't place a happy hour order because it was over, we left. I called to talk to a manager. The girl (Ashley) who answered said no manager was on duty. So I told her my issues. In the middle of our conversation she hung up on me. I immediately called back, a different girl (Brittney) answered. I asked again to speak to a manager. She replied she was the general manager. I told her an employee just hung up on me. Brittney replies that was one of many managers currently on duty. Obviously things like this happen a lot because Ashley doesn't want people to know she is actually a manager. I wouldn't want to be known as an manager either. General manager Brittney gave a list of excuses. One of which was the side kiosks don't work. We sat and waited for 30 minutes for her to say that is absurd. If that was true, a good management team would put signs on all kiosks that don't work and have their carhops go around the property to check on those kiosks. Obviously they are not good managers or they have no problems making up excuses. Stay away from this location. Laziness, management and incompetence will have this location closed very soon. I sat in a stall for over 10 minutes for them to finally ring in and say that the stalls were not working and that they could take my order in the drive through (which is very backed up). Just returned to Colorado after being gone for 8 years and wanted a great Sonic Banana Shake and two Limeades for a hot start to the summer. Drove 12 miles out of the way to get it. The ice cream machine was down and the limeade was a sprite with a small slice of lime in it. Very, very, very poor quality in service. I love Sonic's slush happy hour and take advantage of it on a hot day. This location in particular us horrible. The first time I stopped by for a slush I was perfectly satisfied. I had ordered a Cherry slush with Nerds and my wife ordered a Blue coconut with jolly rancher. They were both perfect. My second experience with this location landed a colorless, flavorless slush with no candy. It was just... slush. So i asked them to remake it. The third time I experienced the same thing. NO flavor or candy. I addressed my concern to the manager and he made another, but forgot the candy ... so I had to wait again. I stopped back a few weeks later to see if the quality of service was better. Nope. I recived a flavorless slush with no candy yet again, and my wife's chili fries were cold. Just leaving this location without having ordered anything. I go to Sonic for an unsweetened ice tea literally every day. This Sonic is convenient for my commute some days, but I will now do everything I can to avoid it. There was one car in front of me in the drive through and zero cars with people in the stalls. I was greeted right away and was told that they would be right with me. I then sat at the drive through intercom for a solid 5 minutes without having my order taken. WHAT TOOK SO LONG? THERE WAS NOBODY THERE! Had this been the first time this had happened, I could chalk it up to something going on behind the scenes, but this is a trend from this location that I will no longer support.
