McDonald's - Clearly the "orange" ketchup shouldn't look like that!

She made an extra trip just to be careful with my milk shake, it was so kind and thoughtful of her. The food was nice hot and fresh it was great! I'm going to go back the next time I'm in Doniphan :)

I got ketchup out of the dispenser and it was foamy and orange. I eat ketchup on just about everything and this ketchup "was not" right. I mentioned something to her when she brought our food. She told me it always looks like that and it was fine. I then asked for some packets of ketchup and she dig in her apron and threw a few down on the table. Very very rude to us as well as some others in there too. Customer service is important and if you don't like your job do all of us a favor and stay the heck home! On the way out I asked her for her name. She hesitated and then said her name was Stacy. Stay home Stacy! Shame on you for being rude to the elderly lady who asked why the soda looked different. Also, the older gentleman that tried to get your attention for 10 minutes to order his food. Shame on McDonalds and shame on you!

They had daily specials and world renowned fried pies. The chili was super fresh! The okra was very crunchy and filled with spices. The star of the show was the double mushroom and Swiss, that mushroom gravy was darn good. The patties were not frozen, fresh smashed burgers is what it tasted like. Hopefully I'll get the chance to stop back in sometime.

So as we crossed the border from AK to MO we saw parking for a truck and a large sign that said Longhorn Grill. Pulled out Yelp and only saw Stateline but quickly assumed it was the same place. Only three reviews indicated that the rating means very little to me. Waking in, there was only one table being served and some wanna be tough boy trying to give me a mean mug which I met with a confident smirk as I sat down with the birthday girl. We started with the fried mushrooms. I ordered the BLD burger medium rare, fries, and an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. Niki got the shrimp basket with corn, coleslaw, toast to go alongside her pink lemonade. The food was great. The burger was juicy and flavorful. I am scared to know what the jumbo size option on that would have been as I only dented the heap of fries it nested on. Niki loved her food and we both agree that the mushrooms were some of the best we have ever eaten. The only reason I took a star away, which would only have been a half if I could was because my tea at first was water, and my burger was well done, not even medium, but everything else was amazing and I will be back again. With the same confident grin.

We had a King room that was roomy and comfortable with parking nearby. Great view of the Current River. Bed was comfortable and room location was pretty quiet, surprisingly. Only downsides were the A/C was noisy and the faux wood floors were being cleaned with some product that made them kinda sticky. We liked the Kuerig coffee maker in the room along with the nice size fridge. Check in experience was good too with friendly staff. We made reservations with a phone call and all went to expectation. Their restaurant onsite is The Blue Heron and it was good as well. Overall we had a good experience and will likely stay again.

Pros: modern, spacious rooms (incl. suites), mini-refrig, some with microwave, no bugs/spiders,…read morelink-up with float services, private river-front gravel bar, Jingles-the-Friendly-Siamese cat (loves kids), friendly staff, on-site good restaurant (evening only), comfortable mattresses, big balconies with Adirondack chairs, OK convenience store, AT&T reception very good, only partial river view from some rooms. For addicts, booze and pot close by. Cons: typical noisy blowy HVac wall units, no house phone in rooms, no luggage help, walk to Rose Cliff Lodge for ice, no cooking or fires allowed anywhere, max. 2-story walk ups depending on room (no elevators), pricey, noise from big rigs on Hwy 60 bridge (less noise in River Center), no house computer, no playground/River here a bit fast for younger kids to play in. The biggest problem with this otherwise quality property was (officially anyway) a "no cancellation/refund/credit" policy. They don't charge your card until you check in, so it is unclear how rigidly enforced this policy is (+ there's a $15 cancel fee per room/day). We got flooded out over July 2025 weekend (Park Service closes the river if it gets over 6 feet - follow this on NOAA website/river level Van Buren MO). We elected to stay regardless (kids are more flexible and inventive than adults!) The Landing is highly dependent on the weather and have a limited season, so they really can't insure your stay. Still, they should have an official credit option for a future stay credit. In Van Buren: "The" Mexican restaurant serves huge good portions. The steaks at the Landing's Blue Heron come out mooing - you may need to have them touched up. Best breakfast is at the Ranch House. No nightlife. In area: Big Spring is spectacular, floating is worth the price, but best in a canoe unless you like cold butt (there's an enormous cave upstream from Van Buren), little funky animal park is pricey but fun for kids. For floating, IMHO the best stretch of the Current is Aker's Ferry to Round Spring, and do it in drought after July 4 for clear water and to minimize deer flies and horse flies.
