I have no idea why Sonic only has two stars. For some reason, I've always lived by a Sonic..so it's my go to fast food joint. It's quick and the burgers are just a bit better than McD/BK/Wendy's etc. How can you go wrong with onion rings and tater tots?! And every drink flavor under the sun! Let's start with an attitude much? The girl raking our order was rude, less than happy to be at work. My sister said thank you so.much, we appreciate you. Nothing just dead silence. At least try to be friendly. Trying to find support for local businesses. But I see why there are only 3 cars in the drive-in bays. The wait for the good was normal. I have tried to be fair, waiting over a year to post the experiences of 4 separate visits. During the first 3 visits, the response to my order was the same: "We don't have that today." Different order each time - same response each time. Today, I waited 4-5 minutes at the drive-through before my order was taken on an intercom system that delivers every 3rd to 4th word. Then, I waited in a line of cars for 15 minutes, watching the adolescent employees talking inside. No adult employee/manager was ever visible. When the teen employee brought my beverage, her first words were: "I'm surprised you didn't leave." I give up. Sonic: Please do your brand and Gastonia a favor - close this location. read more

This place is consistently getting crappier and crappier... I've lived near here for 10 years and it used to be great. Now it's ran by a bunch of smart mouthed teenagers that are extremely lazy. Three nights in a row their slushy machine has been "broken" but if you come during the day it works... so basically they shut their machine off a few hours before closing so that they don't have to when it's time to ACTUALLY close. I called the guy out on it over the intercom tonight and he never said a word back. You ALWAYS have to wait 15+ for food no matter the time or how busy and 9 times out of 10 the order will be wrong. Such a pathetic business, that needs some serious management makeover. I would give it 0 stars if I could. read more

The drive through is terrible. Sat at the menu for 25 minutes with nobody taking my order. Had to go to a booth to order and that took another 10. Half the time they don't even get my order right. This happens almost every time I come. They're lucky I like mozzarella sticks so much or I would NEVER come here. And while sitting at my booth a car that had been waiting behind me drove off yelling "y'all suck" and I couldn't agree more. Don't know if it's bad staff or bad management but they need to do something. read more

I mean I technically got everything I ordered, but the fact that I only have 4 tots in my combo isn't great. We have given this restaurant multiple chances over the past few months absolutely love the food and blasts but the service is unacceptable- places an order online and go to pick it up and they have shut down all ice cream machines- they don't do refunds onsite- so now have to call to get a refund - very poor customer service!!!!!!! read more

When a customer orders mozzarella sticks and you're out of marinara you'd think you'd inform the customer instead of assuming they'd be ok with dipping them in ranch. In a rush to take your order. I was hoping for so much for. The Sonic burgers were ok, nothing special or tasty. The fries were lukewarm unsalted and undesirable. The onion rings were hot but very greasy and also undesirable. I feel like it was a mediocre meal and if I go back it will only be for ice cream. My friends and I used to come to sonic EVERYDAY, literally and we would sit an hangout even if we didn't get food. The service was good, they always talked to us and made us feel comfortable. Over the past year the management has gown down hill. Considering most of the workers left that used to serve us, some were still there. They treat customers like they are bothering them, they turn the lights out when cars are still there, there hours changed so much. You have to wait forever, you're food is rarely right, they make no effort to have a conversation with you anymore. It's sad, this used to be the spot teenagers loved to go to and now nobody does because of how downhill the costumer service has gotten. read more

Absolutely livid after my visit tonight. Hours online and at restaurant state they close at 11. I pulled in around 10:46. As I parked they killed the outside lights. I pressed the button for service and waited until 11 and got no response from the staff. Meanwhile, they served a car across from me during that time, consistently staring at me. If you're closing fine, I get it, I've worked in fast food myself. The fact that I was blatantly ignored is what really upset me. It's the the first time I've had an issue with a Sonic being closed prior to it's listed hours of operation. I even called Sonics contact line to complain about this horrible experience. This chain impressed me with their piping hot burgers, fast service, and the strange but tasty pickle slush drink. Shakes are so big I would have orders a small had I know the large was going to be too much for me along with my burger. Prices are a tad on the high side but you get your money's worth here. If you leave hungry, its your fault, not Sonic's :) read more

Although I read the reviews on yelp I did not heed their warning. Big mistake. I will never come back to this location. It was a slow night there were at least four employees we could see and we sat at the drive-through and no one answered. We drove around and there were two cars in front of us. The first car got the wrong order three times before finally getting their money back. When it was our turn none of the four employees that we saw inside would come out and speak to us. We waited and I honked the horn finally. Small blonde girl looked over turned her back to us and they all started laughing. Needless to say we left and we went to McDonald's where we experienced excellent customer service. read more

3 Strikes & You Are Out! Sonic in Gastonia desperately needs some one go in there re train their employees or get rid of them & hire people that know how to take orders! A few months back I went by there ordered cheese sticks and a drink one would think well pretty simple order..... well that gave me the wrong drink and the cheese sticks were dripping in nasty old grease. After that I didn't go back for weeks, then decided to give them another chance. Returned and only ordered a sweet tea with lemon and chili -cheese fries. Well once again order messed up. No lemon in tea instead they put lemonade in it - must have been 1/2 tea and 1/2 lemonade! Chili cheese fries looked like they threw some chili on fries and laid a slice on cheese on top. Today I get them one last shot and yes they once agin could not get things right however this time I never got what I ordered. Ordered a cheeseburger and i sweet tea, asked if they had Splenda girl had no clue what I was talking about then said no we do t have it. So I asked what artificial sweetener do do have .... she stated naming off all the different flavored drink available, the entire time I was saying that is t what I'm asking you, do you have equal or sweet n low? Again She started naming the different flavors. At this point I said don't worry my order is ok as ordered. I saw my total on the screen, waited and waited with no response, so I pulled around to wait on my order. As I pulled up an employee came out looked at the 2 cars inline and went back inside. I sat there watched the 2 cars in front be served as well as the cars behind me being served. After being approached for the 4th time asking if it was my order and my continued NO's I was asked what did you order. I repeated my order this time she replied to another employee where is her order. That employees mumbled something and went inside after waiting an additional 4 minutes only to have another order come out, at this point I told them to forget the order since they obviously had and drove off. I will NEVER go back to this location and am probably done with all Sonic! Store Manager and Owner you need to do something g about this store as you can see I'm not the only one complaining, heck you only have 1.5 stars.... that's pitiful read more

As someone who loves Sonic and enjoys their overall brand, this location is consistently one of the worst fast food locations I've been too. In 5+ trips since moving to Gastonia, I've yet to have a trio where either the wait was more than 15 minutes for no more than 2 people, or the order was wrong. Their intercom system doesn't work well and the waitresses often don't read you back a total and have even lost my order altogether. I've given them multiple opportunities but after today am done. I'll save my sonic visits for trips out of town and recommend the same to you. read more

I'm actually on my way to vacation but this second part was unnecessary! Went by here on the way home one afternoon and got an order of French toast sticks and popcorn chicken , when enroute home Discovered the popcorn chicken was very hard I called back and spoke with the manager DeErica and she was very nice and said that she would replace everything even though it was just the chicken that was hard when I came back a couple days later to get my replacement as DeErica said she would put my name in the book for the other managers the manager that was on duty CHRISTINA was very RUDE she said that without a receipt she couldn't give me anything was trying to talk over me and everything and that the DeErica should not have done it that way and of course that triggered me to be rude and I was like you need to get with the Your co workers she was the one that told me to come back here and that my name will be in a notebook , well what do you want I want what she told me she would replace she said after I told her I wantHer name she then said well would you like a combo instead I told her no I want to replace what the manager before said she would replace I don't want anything extra from you I just want what I said I originally got she was very nasty !!! Went to get the half price shake. Drive in at 7:56 and was told by some smart mouth kid thay I would have until 8 pm to get the special. So I parked and waited until 8:01 and ordered. Was told over the intercom that the total was $3:01. The shakes were eventually brought to the car and I was then told that the total was $6.89. When I ask why, I was told it was because the shakes were ordered before the special started. My question is....how did the amount change from what I was quoted when they were ordered. This Sonic has got to be the slowest fast food place in the country. We have gone there three times, each time thinking they can't possibly be as slow as the last time and we are proven wrong each time. It takes a minimum of 25 minutes to get your order, and it is usually wrong. read more

I have tried to give this place a chance.. The food is good but the service is HORRIBLE! They rush through whatever they are saying before they ask if they can take your order.. That is if they come on the speaker at all ! I have sat there twice and had to leave because no one came on the speaker to take my order.. Terrible service the people who work there don't even know what they are doing. The intercom is so bad even after 10 minutes the worker still didn't have the right order. I was here on 2/14/17 getting my 2 year old chicken nuggets where there was one car ahead of me and one waiting and one behind us to get there food. After waiting almost 15 minutes and everyone was gone they tried to bring us the wrong food in drive thru I was told they had to still cook the food.
