Ok so their burgers and their food is nothing spectacular, but what really gets me to go to Sonic is their Slushes. Include the flavor shots and you have a whole world of wonderful drinks to explore. The Slush drinks alone are enough reason for me to come back, but God bless them, they have a happy hour from 2-4 everyday when they have their drinks at half price! The food is good. The employees are generally nice. The homeless surrounding the place are an horrible. I especially don't like paying at the drive thru window only to be stared down by a filthy homeless dude. He's like right next to the window. The heap of trash and homeless junk covers the sign at the front of the street. I wouldn't even think to eat at the outside dining area. My kids & I really like Sonic for limeade and the drive - in. We sometimes just want to eat in the car & this is the perfect spot to do it. Food is good - I recommend anything on the breakfast menu. My kids usually order chili cheese coneys and breakfast burritos with side of tater tots. yummy! Those tater tots are great when they're hot. Once they're cold - I throw them out unless my kids want them. Reheated in the microwave just isn't the same taste to me. I didn't give it 5 stars for the simple fact that the employees always seem to have a bad attitude when I get up to the window. Their customer service skills seem to be close to nil. This place is garbage. You people are nuts. I've ordered here a few times and will never go back. The whole roller-blading thing is cool and all, so it gets a star, but the food is nassstyy. Example: I ordered Cheezy Bacon Tater tots. When I received my tots, they were practically frozen, the "cheese" was just a slice of kraft singles melted over the tots in a microwave for a few seconds, and the bacon was some bacon bits sprinkled over the half-melted cheese. We got a burger with everything. When we complained (nicely) the server was nice to change it out but then she tutored us on how to order it correctly (none of which I recall). We then asked for regular tap water, and even had out own recyclable bottles, and were told that they could not use our bottles and regular tap water was 22 cents a glass. After having bought 4 slushies / drinks, I was not happy to have to pay for tap water... We took off and stopped at the In-N-Out for water and drinks. This review is solely going to be on the service...not the food or anything else....I have been going to Sonic for many years as I live right down the street from there..I felt it was time to bring this out to the attention for yelp reviewers to hear because I'm tired of it and I can't see as how I am the only one experiencing this problem....It doesn't matter what time of day or night I come....It doesn't matter whether I order a cup of water or a full meal for several people...it doesn't matter how little or how many people are in the drive thru or pulled in waiting for their food...regardless of any of these situations the wait time is absolutely ridiculous....I get if I show up at peak meal times that it could be busy...I especially get going after 8 pm during the summer when you can get the half price milk shakes or happy hour when you get the half price drinks and $.50 corn dogs...but when all I order is a soda...no special candy or frozen concoction or flavor pumps or anything and its 10 am in the morning and theres only 1 car ahead of me....or else I go at 10:30 at night when the promos are over and theres NO cars in front of me...and I still have to wait 10 minutes for them to put ice in a cup and give me sprite????? That's ludicrous...annnnnd it happened to me again tonight...half price milk shake deal ended yesterday...nobody in the stalls waiting and only one car ahead of me and all I wanted was a sprite...I waited for almost 10 minutes before I finally said enough is enough and I left and went to McDonalds for a buck soda...There were no less than 3 employees inside and one outside but yet not one could get me a soda...Im done with Sonic until they get their act together.... read more

Tonight after work i stopped in to get one of their half price shakes in the drive thru at 830pm. I ordered a medium caramel shake which i have done many times previously. There were 3 cars in front of me and my order took a total of 10 min. If that wasn't bad enough, after i drove away, i took a drink ( i was already on the freeway and was not going to turn around) - it had a horrible chemical taste to it. I have tried to send a comment at sonic.com, but it wouldn't let me, so i am airing my frustration here and plan to call tomorrow. Had sonic once before in Georgia while visiting my mom. I think this is an awesome burger spot. I had the pleasure of eating here with my wonderful pledge sister. I liked the burger fine, it wasn't anything special that I would rant and rave about, fact is I like the set up of the place. It is like being in an episode of happy days. I only give three stars because it is a place I would frequent, but the distance is a factor. In addition, as I have previously mentioned the burger was ok, but not great. As a maintance burger it would be great if close. I truly find no fault in the establishment. Once sonic comes to san jose it will find itself the recipient of four stars, and if they get cute girls like in this location they will get an additional star. I need a daily dose to break the monotany of the more mainstream chains. Solid restaurant, if you are near one I would definatley recommend. read more
