We were greeted and asked to wait. We waited 6 minutes. We took the time to look at our map and GPS. No response. I spoke into the speaker. No response. We backed up and drove to Dairy Queen. This has to be the worst sonic I have ever been to in my life! After being on the road for HOURS (traveling from Arizona) my family and I stopped for gas and sonic was just around the corner. I walked in to place our order and was told by one of the girls she would be right with me, another customer walked in about 10 minutes later and was told the same. Sure was busy making drinks and asked the girl in driver thru to take care of us, which took another 15 minutes. I was patient and waited, placed my order. As I placed our order the cashier stated it had between a busy three days (go figure, it's memorial day weekend) she proceeded to tell me she wished everyone world stay home and that she got called in on her off and wanted to close the store at 5AM. I asked if she had been at work that early (BC I had been on the road since 4 AM) she said no. After i placed our order I walked out to let my family know it would be a while to find the kitchen stretch smoking, one taking on a cell phone and to the people in the car parked in the parking lot. When it walked back into the store the woman from the cart asked twice to talk to over of the kitchen employees for two minutes, and was passing cigarettes to him. I only hope that they waited their hands when they were done. Once my food was ready, I then had to wait for our drinks to be made, there was no ketchup or straws. The bottom line is, save your time and money and go to the Dairy Queen. To Aurora, Cathy and the kitchen employees I hope that one day the same customer service is returned to you. Also, you may want to ask your parents to not hang out at your place of employment. To all the customers whom aren't Texan and know what it's means to bed Texan. Where to start? This Sonic was a circus. One of the employees hopped the counter by placing his hind-end on it and spinning over. The food was slow and scary. The employees were slow and scary. First, let me preface this by saying that we had to stop to get gas... The food at this Sonic was good and because no one else was there, it was made super fresh - took a little longer, but I am willing to wait the extra 5 minutes for super fresh and hot food. The staff was friendly, no real complaints. This place is just an average road-stop fast food place. Nothing fancy, just road trip food. I don't plan on going back, but if I had to head that way again, I wouldn't be opposed to stopping here for gas and food again. read more

This is not a drive in location, but there is a drive thru. We stopped in Ozona to get gas while on our way back home to San Diego from Houston for Thanksgiving. Originally, the plan was for Dairy Queen until we saw this Sonic had the indoor play place. It was perfect for the kids to have some fun, move around, and get some energy out before getting back on the road. Service here was okay. The ice cream machine was out but they had posted a sign on the register. One burger was messed up and had cheese on it even though the receipt showed it was ordered without and we were shorted one of the French fries. Inside the play area a few of the rubber steps that climb up to the slide were torn almost completely off so be careful of that. Restrooms and dining area were clean so that was a big plus. read more

While on our RV trip to Galveston, Texas, stopped in Ozona for fuel. Sonics was just around the corner from the gas station so we stopped in for burgers. Besides, it was easy in and out with a 30 foot 5th wheel.... Almost no cars in their lot at the time. Maybe that should have been a clue. It's an older place, and far from spotlessly clean... But pretty much on par with the rest of Ozona... We ordered burgers, an order of fries to share, and a soft drink. When our order came up, the fries were cold. Took them to the counter. The counter person apologized, took them, and said she would take care of it. A minute or two later she called me back up and handed me an order of fries. Tasted one - hot this time, but rubbery. These idiots had taken our order of cold fries and dumped them back into the frier after we had them at our table.... They should have been trashed. Absolutely disgusting. I was driving down I-10 and got hungry, so I pulled off to go through the Sonic drive-through (It's not like other Sonics - it's more like a regular fast food joint, with an inside dining room and a one lane drive-through). I ordered the #4 combo, and asked that they cut the lettuce. I gave them my money, they gave me the bag, and I jumped back onto the interstate. When I opened the bag, there isn't an aspect of my order they got right. There was lettuce I had asked them to cut. Most of the cheese, instead of being inside the burger, was melted to the inside of the paper the burger was wrapped in. The tots were stone cold, and if you can't even Tot right, should you even exist as a Sonic?? The whole thing was disgusting and not only will I never return but I hope a lack of business quickly puts this location out of its misery. read more

We were driving home to Phoenix, AZ from celebrating the holidays with family in Orlando, FL and stopped by for a quick bite. Upon using the very clean and stocked restroom, I asked if they were a service dog friendly restaurant. (Many restaurants are not!) They responded quickly with a "Yes". I then went out to the car and my husband and son and service dogs entered the restaurant. The restaurant was very clean and organized. The staff was delightful. I liked everything on the menu and asked for suggestions. The counter person was helpful and suggested the chili with cheese and onions, and the Fritos on the side. She was right! It was very good. Our shakes, flavored drinks and soda were great. This was a very happy place to sit and eat indoors. When we drive back to FL this will be a regular stopping place. I was recently driving through Ozona, TX while on business on 07/26/14. This sorry excuse for a Sonic has got to be the dirtiest dining facility I have EVER encountered! If there was a rating for NO stars - I would've given that instead of 1 star! When you walk up to the front door and you're afraid to touch the door due to all the fingerprints and dirt located on the door handle and glass, that's the 1st impression -and anyone in business knows you NEVER get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression! The restaurant interior was filthy and the bathrooms were completely neglected. There was some guy using a dirty wet towel that looked like he'd just washed a car with it - and he's using it to wipe down tables and other surfaces - YUK!! Hands down, the worst part was the girl working at the front counter using what appeared to be a kitchen knife to clean her fingernails - AT THE FRONT COUNTER NO LESS!!! Where is the franchise owner, or the Sonic Manager, or more importantly, where is the local health department??? Honestly, this Sonic got it right. I got to meet Jacob Vasquez, the owner, who was working the register and he went above and beyond for us. I wanted a Chilli Cheese Frito Wrap and he was about to run to the store to buy me fritos. I told him that wasn't necessary and changed my order. He and his team were kind, accommodating and gave us no problems for using their wifi for a few hours. I wish every sonic was indoors like this one. One word describes this place: DUMP! Place was dirty, tables were not wiped off, floor was dirty. I was surprised that the bathroom didn't look like a back alley. Masking tape was on the walls from painting. Service was below average. Your drink came to the left of the ordering counter. Girl called your name and left your drink there, didn't bother confirming, cap wasn't on all the way. Slushee and Sonic blast machine were not working. The bottom bun on my burger was cold, I didn't bother bringing it up as doing so would've only delayed me leaving. But being in the middle of nowhere, this is one of the few places where you can grab something. If you're heading west and can make it another 100 miles to Fort Stockton, TX, I would stop there instead. They have more places to eat and more gas stations to choose from. We've had good experiences at other Sonics, so we didn't give a second thought to stopping at this one. Big mistake!!! We ordered chicken strips and asked for a couple glasses of water. They charged 45 cents for each of the waters - claimed it was to re-coop the cost of the cups - which are maybe a nickel at most. We didn't see the 'happy hour' sign (beverages half price) until we were on our way out, and of course the cashier didn't bother to mention it while we were ordering. We could have had a softdrink for just a few cents more than we paid for the water. The chicken strips were a rip-off. They were about $1 a piece but only half the size that they should have been, and not worth eating. Stay away from this Sonic!!! read more

GREAT! We ate every bite! We had very friendly service from everyone that was working. We came here twice in one day because we were staying in the hotel across the street. Very prompt service, food was fresh and wonderful both times. They had a clean play place for our kids. The only think keeping from 5 star review is the bathrooms had a very strong ammonia smell. We don't know the area so we had no choice but to try Sonic because it's by our hotel. My son said Sonic is worst than Jack in the box, but we were hungry so we went anyway. We ordered burgers/sandwich, fries, and jalapeno poppers. I saw the employee using his bare hands ( ugh!) scooping fries and poppers instead of using tongs. Oh, the manager said they don't use gloves to prepare sandwiches/ burgers because they wash their hands all the time. They probably had put everything away and didn't want to clean again because it was almost closing time. But what the heck! The manager was so proud to say they do not use gloves on food! But what about using bare hands on the fries and the poppers!?! Really?! This place is gross! And no, we didn't eat the food...we bought food in the hotel instead. read more
