We called around trying to put rooms on hold and Clark House was one of the places that let us put rooms on HOLD. No one ended up staying there. A week after our wedding we were going through our bank account and noticed a $350 charge from Clark House. They charged us the full price of all three rooms, and didn't bother telling us they were charging us or even giving us a receipt. We called them to say "Hey, what's up?" and the woman would not even listen and said we had RESERVED those rooms and never showed. She said we even owed her more money then what they even charged us because they had to buy breakfast and hire a maid. ( I'm thinking, why pay your maid if she didn't do any work and why not just take the breakfast back?) She also informed us that there would be no refund. We were about to contact the Better Business Bureau when our wedding planner made one final call to Clark House and demanded some of our money back. We haven't gotten the check yet but they told us we would be getting HALF of our money back.

European style hotel with all rooms sharing a bathroom. No tv or electronics in the rooms. They offer a four star menu in the four-star restaurant with a large list of organic local wine and beer. They are world famous for the walnut burger. Its really something different to try with a friend.

Everything in the room was so clean and tidy, it looks like there were recent updates perhaps? The king suite had plenty of space to lounge and spread out. Plenty of closet space and a large dresser for all your clothes. Lots of extra pillows and blankets as well. There are so many windows to let in a fresh breeze, and ceiling fans were a bonus. Outlets everywhere and alarm clocks have usb and charging outlets on them. Wifi is available and they will provide the password at check in. The kitchenette was small but functional with a mini fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker(kcup style) and a small sink. The bathroom has a full size vanity and cabinets of clean towels and extras. There's a separate fish cleaning room on site which was a huge bonus. Some cutlery, storage bags, cutting boards and a sink for washing up. There's also a small chest freezer that can be used to store the cleaned fish if needed. I saw some gathering spaces outside- a fire pit with chairs around it and a patio with a grill, cooler and plenty of seating. Many rooms also has glider rocking chairs outside the door and I really enjoyed using those! My only complaint would be that there's no coat rack. Not entirely necessary but it rained all weekend and we ran out of chairs to hang all our gear for drying. Edit to add that we met one of the owners this morning, Julie, and she's as kind as can be! Had a nice long talk about the Inn and future plans. Also our room did not have a true kitchenette, I was mistaken. those rooms had already been booked. However the space we had was useful and far better than most hotels offer. Hopefully we can book one of the kitchenette rooms next spring!

None of that 300 room hotel just off the freeway nonsense here. Just 12 recently remodeled rooms with a balcony view of the Mississippi just across the street. Rooms have a mini-fridge, microwave, Wi-Fi with great speeds and a strong signal. Owners are the greatest. Check-in was a breeze. We had left a fan in the room for white noise at night (which we never used). Received a text shortly after that we had left it behind. When we returned, we got the backstory of 'Coco The Queen of the Mississippi' The Inn's rescue cat. The Queen graced us with a visit while sitting on our ground floor deck on a couple of occasions. As others have noted, there are freight trains that come through now and then. Which for me, a guy, is a plus and is pretty cool to watch. We both slept through it without trouble. No horn, loud bangs, sparking wheels or any of that movie sort of stuff.

A rarity is that we actually were able to get an upgraded room as a Gold member - seems hard to get these days. The room was nice and since the place was newer everything was in good order. However it didn't help for others below them. Breakfast was standard fare with egg omelettes and sausages along with oatmeal. My wife tried their red velvet waffles 1st day but not 2nd day. Pool was crowded so avoided it. Room is tight squeeze but nice having fridge and microwave. Lobby lounge is nicely renovated as well as breakfast seating area. I didn't open the rooms with closed doors, as it seemed there were a couple of guests staying there, which is cool! This place has the look and feel of history, and we enjoyed seeing the antique furniture, framed portraits, and layout of the rooms.
