I have been a customer of Sonic Suds for many years and it's always been one of the best places around. Unfortunately a few months ago they hired a person who clearly doesn't care about her job and especially her customers. I tried to contact management but THEY DO NOT CARE and never respond to any online messages.... Advice - if you want to avoid being treated in a disrespectful manner avoid the place when she's there. Recently raised prices plus now charging 3% on using a credit card to load the laundry card (without any notice). The washers don't spin dry well, so you're left with soaked clothes, and the dryers are no longer very hot. It takes twice the money to dry. Plus, you're lucky if you find anyone to help you who speaks English. I asked the attendant how to get a new card (when I had "lost" mine), and she handed me someone else's AmEx card, which had evidently been accidentally left there. The only word she understood was "card". I'm honest, so I didn't accept the card. I found a customer who could translate for me and got a new laundry card. I have had a few bad experiences with some of the Hispanic employees so I try to only go when Sarah is on duty. Sarah is so pleasant and keeps the place super clean. I know tons of customers feel the same way and she knows all her regulars by name. read more

After 16 years bringing my clothes here for employees to wash they ruined a very expensive bag . It wasn't supposed to be washed. I told 2 employees it's expensive just wash the clothes inside. The old employees were experienced and careful. They have new people now who don't know what to wash and dry and what not to. The bag was canvas and leather which had Ritz Carlton aruba on it. It's completely ruined. The owner spoke to me as I kept calling him. He admitted they made a mistake but he wanted to first speak with them and contact aruba for the cost. Guess he didn't believe what I told him . I would definitely not leave my clothes there to be washed. This has now gotten out of hand. I guess I must call my attorney. I've been to Sonic Suds 3 or 4 times to have my comforters cleaned but this last time I am very disappointed. I dropped off my comforter to be cleaned because it had my friends dogs hair on it. When I went to pick up the comforter this afternoon I could see there was still a bunch of dog hair on the comforter. I said something to the woman and she said I needed to take the dog hair off myself with tape or something like that. I said the reason I brought it to you and paid to have you do it is so I could get a clean comforter but with all the hair still on it it doesn't even look like they washed it. I am very unhappy with your services. I feel she should have offered to clean it again. I called when I got home to try and speak to a manager but nobody answers and it's 5pm. read more

What was once the best laundromat in the area has gone downhill...the last two times I got there at 6 am (posted starting time), the attendant arrived after 6:30... especially annoying in the cold December weeks...some washers/dryers not working, and the attendant apparently didn't know how to put the heat on.... employee turnover seems to be an issue, but no excuse due to the high prices read more

We've been noticing how it's been going downhill here and that it's not as clean as it used to be and now they've raised their prices by 50 cents a machine. This is a bad combination...less clean conditions + higher prices. Everybody is trying to get to make a buck off of Covid. This morning in the 9:00 hour, it was filthy which seems to indicate that it wasn't cleaned last night or this morning. Also, there was an employee just walking around. I am so glad they have a sonic suds in Rutherford. I've use the one in Emerson for years and never had a better experience. I love the card system and I love the factThat the machines are always working and in tiptop order. The one in Emerson has been there for many years, the one in Rutherford is new, the place is only new once :-) I have a hair salon so I need a location that will allow me to dry my towels because my towels need to be crisp and clean and sonic suds keeps my towels just the way I like them. I put a new card at the new location so I'm not sure if the cards are interchangeable. The Decor is very similar to Emerson and Lodi so I'm sure it's the same owner? read more

Be careful with using your credit card while you load your SONIC card! I am not 100% certain (investigation is still ongoing) but right after I started using this laudromat and loaded my new SONIC card using my credit card, my card info was stolen and used DAILY for grocery and other purchases for $99.98 each (someone didn't want to exceed $100). It was used in GA and CA. Now I am going through all the hassle, Chase refunded my money but it's a headache. I would recommend you pay cash to one of these ladies working there and have them use THEIR card to load your card. read more

Came in to do my laundry thanks to other yelp reviews. I prefer laundry places that work with a card instead of quarters so this is an automatic star for me. The second star comes from the size. It's a decent sized laundry mat in my opinion and I was able to get 3 large washers which fit everything I had - about a month and half worth of laundry - to do. Like most, the sell small (overpriced for convenience) bottles of detergent, which is good because I realized I forgot mine as soon as I got out of the car. They're open 7 days a week from 6-12am (another star) and also offer wash and fold services though I didn't look at their rates. Ample parking and wifi (another star). read more

Ive been going to this Laundromat since it opened. It used to be very nice and clean and staff helpful. This has changed over the past year. staff turnover is high- always new people in there. Staff barely speak English. They are rude and constantly on the phone on speaker and dont want to be bothered. The prices went up - which i understand to some extent due to economy- and instead of focusing on customer service in anticipation of this, service has only got worse. I usually drop off my laundry at 8am before work and used to be able to pick up next day. Now its a 3 day minimum wait. I understand being busy and being understaffed but when the staff is on the phone on personal calls walking around not doing any laundry or cleaning than its a productivity issue not a staffing issue. Rude staff, unclean facility, long wait times and higher prices- im done. I will gladly pay more for better service and nicer staff and clean facility. read more

This establishment is so hot in temperature it is majorly uncomfortable and the second you're there you wish you left and went somewhere else. Even in the days it is nearly 70 outside the heat is set as if it is still freezing outside, couple the heat with the dryers running and you want to pull your hair out . They have no paper products available for anyone and when the owner was there he was verbally complaining about the high use of toilet paper coming off as a true Cheapskate which is noticeable everywhere in the place . It is a newer place and because of the free dryer allegation it seems like a wonderful spot. I can say that the dryer prices are slightly more than other places and the washing machine prices are as well so it seems like the dryer prices might be incorporated in your services and being termed as free. The owners of all of the establishments in the strip are obviously so petty that none of them will be the ones to get a garbage for outside so if you have trash just leave it in the parking lot. This is a brand new laundromat so everything is squeaky clean and all the machines are new and work well. I have now been here 3 times and each time I have found the staff person on duty to be quite pleasant and helpful. At $2.69 a pop for the 20 pound machines the initial price is a bit steep however they are still running the free dryer promotion so that more than offsets it for now. The facility provides free Wi-Fi with decent speed. And there is even a computer workstation for customer use in the facility. There is ample parking and both the interior and exterior are well lit so overall this is a good local option for laundry. read more

This store... they claim to be open until 12am.... its a lie and false advertising... I have stopped by at 10pm 3 times now and its always closed, doors are locked and I'm told to to leave because they are closed... the last time I was even able to wash I got locked out after I left my clothes in the dryer and came back when it was only 10pm..... If your business closes at 10pm then SAY IT CLOSES AT 10PM!!!! DONT LIE AND CLAIM TO OPEN UNTIL 12AM.... If you dont want business from customers thats your choice but dont waste our time by having us stop by only to turn us away..... terrible business.... By the way when I got locked out and my clothes was still in the dryer, the person working wouldnt even open the door for me however much I knocked, she just looked at me and kept cleaning... Their business model isn't just fee for service. They make money by holding onto your money - pretty much forever! You have to buy a magnetic card and then pay in $5 increments or more. So they' basically always holding onto some of your money. I think it's a rip-off. The staff is good however. read more

Used this laundromat for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the place. I seem to have gotten free dryer credits for putting money on my laundry card which is great marketing (not sure if this is a promotion or an all the time deal). They offer 3 types of washing machines that vary in size and price depending on your needs. The location is great because there's a Dunkin Donuts right next door if you need a caffeine fix while doing your wash. The laundromat offers free WiFi, vending machines and a wash and fold service ($.99 per lb; 10lb minimum). I don't normally go outside of the house to do my laundry but my washing machine is being repaired. It's good to know I have a clean, local place if I'm ever in need. read more

Dropped my laundry of at 9am for wash dry fold service. Was told to pick it up between 4 and 5pm. Went in at 4:45 and was told they couldn't do it because they have no fabric softener. Are you kidding me? They couldn't call? Will never go there again. read more

With regard to drop off/pick up: Horrible, degrading service. I dropped off a bag of laundry a few days before Christmas & when my boyfriend and I came to pick it up on the 26th, the nice lady at the counter first told me it was "picked up already" and when she looked into it further she found that in their system it was not "closed" but instead the status was "ready for pick up." She kept looking around the bags and asking if I had someone come by to pick it up. I repeatedly told her no. She made attempts to contact the manager and a coworker over the phone to try to figure out what happened with no immediate success. She searched through the collected receipts and did not find any confirmation of pick up. I asked her what the next steps should be and she told me to "speak with the manager." I spoke with the manager, Paul, remotely over the phone and he told me he would need 24-48 hours because he would not be in the laundry mat until the next day, understandably. I figured since it's a busy time of year it's fair to give them time to do some research and see what had happened. I received a call from a lady from their facility today, 12/28, letting me know that they found the bag of laundry ("another employee accidentally brought our laundry bag home thinking it was hers-" this is what the lady from the store told me.); I was glad and thankful to be contacted since it has reached the 48 hour mark. My boyfriend went by to pick up the bag for me and I called to let them know that he is on his way to pick it up and should be arriving in about 5-10 min. When he arrived there, the lady assisting him was unable to immediately process the transaction because my boyfriend did not have the receipt with him. She tried to look for the receipt from their records but it was lost. For further assistance, the lady called the manager and the manager ended screaming at my boyfriend for not having the receipt and saying things like "do you even speak English?! I can see you on the camera you know?!" My boyfriend had me on the phone and I could hear my boyfriend relaying directions between the manager and the employee; "he says log on to the system" for example. Eventually the fiasco was solved and we still paid the whole cost of the laundry service. I heard my boyfriend get back on the phone with the manager and explain everything was ok & heard him calmly say "bye." He did not hang up the phone suddenly. No apology from the manager at all, his main focus was to receive our money. No discount was offered even when I spoke with him on the phone on the 26th. Definitely poor service, I understand it is a busy time of year but clearly the standards of service here extremely poor and lacking. Incredibly insulting. Very poor communication between staff members and the manager. read more
