CHOO-CHOO, it's about time! We've been waiting for this day to come. Preview rides on the first day brought out crowds from all over. It only ran from Marin Civic Center to Rohnert Park and back, just in time for the Marin County Fair. One of the passengers I was chatting with mentioned how many of his friends have moved from Marin to Sonoma County, and they're older now in their 80's, and how wonderful it is to have a train. Many don't drive anymore, and they sure miss Marin. It's ADA-friendly with a nice size gender neutral restroom to fit a wheelchair. The staff on-duty were super nice and helpful, answering all our questions. Apparently, they've been anxiously waiting for this day to come as well. The snack station isn't in full operation yet, be patient my friends. Another passenger also mentioned it was the first day, give it about 100 days and see how friendly they are. Well, my son and I both give it 5-stars, as the train rides smoothly, and everything on board the train is accommodating and efficient. It's quite nice for a commuter train! I'm ecstatic to know hubby can ride the train to work from Marin to Petaluma and vice versa. Moreover, I can hop on this lovely train to visit him at work without driving and sitting in traffic hell for hours after work going Northbound - phew!

Finally got to take my first ride on the train. I was amazed at the views and areas that I've never seen before. I have lived in Petaluma for most of my life and was blown away at the beauty of ride. I do work for SMART and even as an employee had not had the opportunity to ride until the preview rides began. I am looking forward to taking the train to dinner. Either north or south - depending on my mood. I could go to Railroad Square, Downtown San Rafael, or Novato. And I can even enjoy a glass of wine or a beer during the ride. I am excited for all the adventures of riding the train will provide.

Amanda and Ashley, twin sisters are the train engineers! The best!

We got to ride in the Smart Train and met the most awesome train engineers, twin sisters Amanda and Ashley. They were so friendly, very knowledgeable and of course safe! Amanda operated the train southbound & Ashley northbound. How cool to be working with your twin sister driving a train? We were lucky enough to ride in their train in both directions. They even offered us bottled water because they saw us running for the train before it left. Of course they waited. Thank you so much Ashley and Amanda, you made our ride an awesome experience!

It's often delayed. When it works, it's a good service. The staff are really nice. It just isn't that reliable

This is one of the few shuttle companies offering service to and from Muir Woods…read more First and foremost, you cannot beat the price--$4.00 per person round trip. Unbelievable price considering parking at Muir Woods is nearly impossible and requires advanced reservations. My family arrived at Larkspur Landing in Larkspur, CA, as directed when I made our online reservations on gomuirwoods.com Advanced online shuttle reservations are a must. Our reservation was for 200 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Parking in the huge parking lot is free on weekends. We arrived at 130 pm and formed a line as instructed by a very nice male employee sitting in a large, company-like camper. There are port-a-potties here, but no other open restrooms. Shortly after 200, the same male employee from the company camper began scanning for tickets. This same employee provided information on what to expect (8 degrees cooler up in Muir Woods from where we were standing), that the drive would take 30 minutes, etc... Once we boarded the shuttle, the driver came in, and they took a headcount. There were eight empty seats, so he exited the shuttle and invited eight guests standing in line to board. Darn! A packed shuttle :( We were now packed like sardines. It was a warm day, and whatever little cool air was in the shuttle was now gone. It was starting to get warm, very warm inside. Once we took off, it felt as though it was no longer warm but HOT!! The AC was on, a vent on the shuttle roof was open, yet it was very uncomfortable as I began to sweat, and I could see that other guests were wiping sweat from their brows and/or fanning themselves. The ride up takes you along a winding road that goes up and down before you arrive at the entrance to Muir Woods. The driver did a GREAT job and was very professional and friendly. When we exited the shuttle, we were RELIEVED as the cool air hit our faces The return trip was different, as there were only half the riders in the shuttle. The driver did a great job, but the ride was definitely nerve-racking. The shuttle is on the side of the cliffs, and in some areas of the ride back, the driver was kicking up dirt, which means we were very close to the edge. The driver was very experienced, professional, and a great driver, but for someone like me who HATES heights, I was definitely sweating under my windbreaker. Overall, this is a GREAT way to get to Muir Woods without all the drama of trying to drive up and find parking in your own vehicle.

One of my biggest frustrations is that buses are constantly running far ahead of schedule. If the Petaluma stop says the bus arrives at 5:20, I understand a few minutes early or a few minutes late. But 20 minutes early is unacceptable. It happens often enough that it's become a real reliability issue. People plan their commutes around the published schedule, and buses leaving that early make riders miss them entirely. Another ongoing problem is bus spacing. It's common to see two buses arrive within a couple of minutes of each other, followed by a 30- to 40-minute gap before the next one. Better spacing would make the service much more dependable. I've also noticed that many drivers barely come to a complete stop before pulling away. They accelerate quickly before passengers have a chance to sit down, which can be uncomfortable and potentially unsafe, especially for seniors or anyone with mobility challenges. I rely on Golden Gate Transit, so it's disappointing to see the service becoming less reliable. I hope they take rider feedback seriously and work on improving schedule adherence, bus spacing, and passenger safety.

We sat inside on the ride back which was really pleasant too and a lot warmer. My only complaint is when we got to the ferry at 10AM as the schedule said we were told it was a holiday and they were running on a holiday schedule so we had to wait an hour. We picked up the schedule at customer service and checked for return ride under the holiday/weekend schedule and it said 2pm. When we arrived a sign said 3pm. Really?? Get it together! So the whole outing took a lot longer than expected. Check the schedule carefully if you go -- but go -- it is a lovely ride.

Now, I'm not a mixologist , but if you display a vodka, how hard is it to pour 1 1/2-2 oz of vodka into a glass with ice add some Bloody Mary mix, which they offer as well, and make me a normal Bloody Mary.
