Excessive charges for towing and recovery, and tells you your auto insurance will reimburse you... auto insurance will not reimburse due to excessive fees. Truck fee of $225 and a hook fee of $300, credit card fee of $29.85. In the middle of nowhere on I10 our daughter's car broke down, out of gas and/or car battery failure. Usaa could not provide local referral for towing and recovery. Looked up a towing company through Google and called for help. Unfortunate lesson learned. If I could give zero stars, I would. In June of 2022, while driving back to Arizona from a vacation trip in San Antonio, our Kia Sorento broke down on I-10 a few miles west of Sonora, Texas. Norbert Ortiz (d/b/a Sonora Towing & Recovery) towed our vehicle back to Sonora and charged us nearly $600 for a 20 mile tow. Then he claimed it was totaled beyond repair, even though it was only running rough and he only looked under the hood for 15 minutes and didn't use any tools to check why. We agreed to leave the car with him temporarily while we figured out what to do from back home. What followed was nothing short of fraud. Despite immediate and multiple attempts to contact him to retrieve our car, he was unresponsive and uncooperative, knowing that we were 14 hours away out of state. When he finally did answer the phone, he told us he wanted an additional $950 dollars for storing our car during the time he wouldn't respond to us. After getting a lawyer to send him a Demand letter to release our car, we were told that he had sold it without our consent or knowledge - to Mexico for parts - despite our continued efforts to retrieve it. To make matters worse, we learned that his Vehicle Storage License had expired for a period during which he attempted to charge us for storage fees, so he legally shouldn't be able to charge anything more. This business is deceptive and untrustworthy. We firmly believe he took advantage of us as two young women from out of state with no other options. We have since reported him to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Do not trust Sonora Towing & Recovery. Do not give them your business because you will be scammed too. read more

My sister and I were pulling my 20' cargo trailer (fully loaded) from California to Houston. A tire on the rear axle broke off and left us stranded in Sonora. I called Sonora Towing and Recovery and Norbert arrived almost immediately!!!!! Our vehicle was in a work zone and Norbert moved our vehicle and towed it to his facility for repairs. Norbert went above and beyond in that he ordered 3 new tires and greased all the bearings on the other wheels. He also fixed the sheet metal with new rivets that the tire damaged. I would not have wanted ANYONE else other than Norbert to help us. He was friendly and it was as though we'd known him forever! Sonora Towing and Recovery comes HIGHLY recommended! Sonora Towing. These are the best guys you could possibly get for ANY job. I called them up on a Saturday night with a locksmith request and they drove in from the ranch to save me, my two kids, my dog, and my cat from certain and epic dismay. We are driving from Georgia to Oregon and managed to lock our Durango key in our airstream trailer. They tried for 20 minutes to jimmy the lock open so I wouldn't have to replace it. But apparently Airstream makes some good locks. So, they drilled it out for me and made sure that I could get back in. These guys really are the best! Thank you from this Military family. read more

Service was absolutely incredible! My wife and I were heading westbound on I10 when we hit something and our tire completely blew up, sending us swerving off the road. After a scary situation, they answered the phone immediately and were at our location in 10 minutes. He got our car hooked up and towed us to a tire shop. He knows the shop owner personally so he called him on a sunday night around 6:30pm when the shop was closed. He persuaded his friend to open the shop for us so we could get a new tire. Sonora Towing was the first company to show us true southern hospitality. Norbert made a stressful situation actually enjoyable going above and beyond and putting our minds at ease. It took nearly two weeks for us to get the parts together to fix our vehicle. Norbert kindly stored our truck and trailer till we were able to move them. When the parts came in they were installed quickly and efficiently. While I don't wish car trouble on anyone, if you are in need of assistance I couldn't recommend anyone more than Norbert! My husband and I were driving through Sonora on our way home to NM when our tire blew out. We lost complete control of the car and skidded across the highway and median about 100 yards. That being said we were very shook up, very far from home and now stranded. We called this towing company and the driver was on his way immediately, arriving in only 10 minutes. It was getting late and no tire shops were open but he called his friend who opened his shop up just to replace our tire. On the drive to the shop, the driver told us about some history of the town and gave us recommendations on where to stay. This conversation definitely lifted our spirits and made us feel very grateful as opposed to unlucky. I cannot thank this driver enough for his hospitality and for treating us as friends. Mr. Ortiz and Sonora Towing absolutely saved us after an 18 wheeler plowed into our camper on a highway several hundred miles from home. Mr Ortiz was on the scene immediately after police arrived, and his incredibly friendly nature was very reassuring in those tense moments. He took us to a local hotel, gave advice on next steps, and did the same the next morning when he returned to pick us up to go to his lot to see our camper. This ordeal ended up going on for over A MONTH, and he stayed in touch with us, coordinating appraiser visits, and went out of his way again to inspect our vehicle personally to find some necessary info the appraiser missed! Sonora Towing is a real company owned and managed by real people that do the right thing for the people they serve. My great-grandparents ran an auto body repair shop in a small town for over 60 years. Their slogan was "by accident we meet." Sonora Towing is just like their company. We got a flat tire on I-10 in the middle of no where! We called our insurance with not so much help. Googled 24 hour tire and they appeared. Within 30 mins they found me!!! Got my spare on!!!!
