I am so glad I moved from here recently. However, I still have friends who live in the complex, and I went back to hang just yesterday and was shocked at what I heard/saw. Long story short: They shut the water off once a month for hours at a time, always citing someone else as the culprit; the rent just went up 300 dollars more a month; and they just chopped up all of the good trees that used to make this place so lush. It wasn't just a palm tree seasonal trimming either. They cut up and over-pruned hundred year old pine and deciduous trees and it looks like someone punched holes through them. The trees were why I moved here in the first place, and I'm so relieved I wasn't here to watch them get destroyed. DO NOT MOVE HERE. read more

This apartment is way over priced!!! It's a house payment! The pipes were busted at least 10 times while I lived there the last 2years. There was dirt wholes everywhere the whole time I lived there. The landscape people were outside my window every morning weed whacking . The water tasted awfuk you can't drink it! The Covid precautions were stupid at times. We had no access to any of the amenities. Their gym was closed for renovations for six months. The spa was broken for about that long too! The first week I was there pipes in the bathroom broke and the facet in kitchen sink was leaking. There were a lot of cranky elderly people there. Drunk young and old people in the pool every weekend. Not Luxury !!!! Just old!!!! read more

I live on the 2nd floor and the roof in the bedroom has leaked 4 times in about 1 year. Today I woke up to leak #4 in the same spot as the other three leaks. the repairs take forever and are obviously inadequate. overall the apartment is basic (though they charge a premium) and old. I've asked them to let me out of my lease early. Please do yourself a favor and live somewhere else. UPDATES 2/15: they have refused to adjust my lease. read more

We LOVED living here. We'd still be here if our children hadn't insisted we move into a house with no stairs. Our spacious apt was on the 3rdfloor so we felt we were living in a treehouse. It was so beautiful. The nesting owl family often perched right outside our windows. What a treat. The staff was always helpful and friendly and very professional. Maintenance staff was always prompt with any problems we might have. The landscaping was always beautifully done. We can't say enough positive things about this place. You don't really notice from La Cholla how lush Sonoran Terraces is, but it really is; I almost forgot I was in Tucson during the tour. You also don't realize how spacious the apartments are, and the level of amenities offered. A movie theater?! That one was a shock. The location is convenient to most everything I care about--Omni Tucson National Resort is nearby which is a favorite of mine for dining and staycations, as well as PCC Northwest Campus, and various dining and shopping venues. The grounds were meticulous and the clubhouse was one of the most impressive I've seen, complete with movie theater. I did not notice much in the line of noise which was good considering the nearest intersection can be crowded and noisy. The very friendly leasing agent walked me through one of their biggest offerings, which was a 2 bedroom and 2.5 bath townhome measured at about 1400+ sqft. Yeah, that thing was a house through and through. All the bedrooms and full baths are upstairs with the entire first floor being mainly kitchen, living (with fireplace), dining, and powder room. Oh, and there's also a breakfast nook in the kitchen. Outside the front was a carport with storage closet and supplementary parking spot. I like the set up of the downstairs which would be great for entertaining. The upstairs was another treat. The master is large and also has a balcony, fireplace and dual sink vanity in bathroom. Both bedrooms have bathrooms in them, and both seem very equitable, with the exception being the absence of balcony, fireplace, and dual-sink vanity. All in all, I was extremely impressed with the amount of space in that apartment. Pricing was on the steeper side as you can probably imagine for something that big in a city where rent continues to rise, but it can be steeper for a fully renovated one, which I was told commands a $200 premium per month. I prefer the living room to be carpeted like the one I saw, and I don't care much for the modern finishes, so I'd likely pass on that upgrade. I'll definitely have this complex in mind come time for when I decide to pull the trigger. read more

I've lived at Sonoran Terraces twice! First, I rented a two bedroom upstairs apartment. It was a wonderful apartment. Fireplace (mine had a mantle) and vaulted ceilings made the living room look HUGE. Washer/dryer had its own utility room. And I loved that there were doors from the dining room and living room out to the large balcony. The master bedroom was plenty roomy and I loved the walk-in closet. The second time I moved there, I rented a townhome and I wish I could have stayed there forever. I loved it! It was like living in my own home. Carport. Large dining/living room with a fireplace. Upstairs has two bedrooms (both very roomy), but the master bedroom has a fireplace too! And a balcony! The townhome is the most indoor & outdoor living space you can get in Tucson that I know of anyway (1400sf, I think). The only reason I left was because it became unaffordable to me. Rents kept getting raised and was over $1200 a month. Too rich for my single parent blood who lost her job. But, I would move back in a heartbeat if I could afford it on my own. Seriously, at least go and take a look at the amenities (pool with cabanas, large covered barbecues, horseshoe pit, pool table, MOVIE theater, computer room/library, nice workout room, large clubhouse area, community garden, monthly activities and special events, night security) The staff is very helpful and friendly and the maintenance is responsive! I only had one major issue in the upstairs apartment (air conditioner went out) but that happens when apartments age, I guess. They provided a room air conditioner until they could replace the A/C. Now, I live at another NALS property that is not as large as ST and has very few amenities, but it's more affordable and still has very friendly staff and a competent and responsive maintenance team. At first glance the apartment is beautiful. Great grounds, nice and friendly staff.. I've lived here for two years. In those two years, I've had my ceiling leak at least 6 times (from the same place), And my AC didn't function for one month out of my first summer here, and a week during my 2nd summer here. They are a large corporation that does not have local authority to make things right, so be prepared if things go wrong. A lawyer isn't a bad thing to have. I have never in my life (having lived in Brooklyn, and Albuquerque) had the problems that I've had here, and Even during my WORST problem elsewhere ... I have lived here since January of 2017, and I really love it. Unfortunately, the management has decided that rent increases of 15 to 25% per year are acceptable since COVID. My rent for a one-bedroom apartment will be over $1400 if I decide to stay. It's about $400 more than I was paying two years ago. I have complained but I'm sure it won't do any good. I believe they are trying to squeeze out older residents like myself by increasing rent beyond what those of us on a fixed income can afford. Frankly, I think it is despicable. read more

Do yourself a favor and move here. The property is clean and well kept up, the apartments are affordable and very nice, and the staff is the best around. Also, I have not needed maintenance here very often but they are excellent at what they do when needed. The location is very convenient as well. I doubt you could find a better deal for the money and highly suggest you give them a try. I am moving out because I need to leave town for a job, otherwise I would have called this place home for a long time. read more

I have had such a wonderful experience at Sonoran Terraces. The staff are so welcoming and professional. The grounds are beautifully manicured, with mature trees, grass and bushes; and the pool is heavenly. The gym is small but has all the exercise equipment that a major gym would have. I feel like I live at a high end resort! There are so many social functions to meet new people and I have met people who have been living here for over twenty years. I love the mountain views. Overall, my experience at Sonoran has been outstanding and I constantly tell my friends and family what a great place this is. read more

GF and I lived there for two years. Beautiful complex with friendly office staff. Many complex events monthly geared toward older residents. Buildings are brick structure therefore the electric bills are quite high. Water rates are pricey, too. Second year lease rate will be higher due ST so-called "Market Rate" which changes weekly. A $40+ monthly rent hike is common. In all, A nice friendly complex but owners are greedy, IMO. read more

I'm shocked at the negative reviews on here and have to wonder about their legitimacy. When we were looking for an apartment a year and a half ago, Sonoran Terraces was one of the highest rated complexes in the area. We literally have not had one bad experience living here. Yes, there is a minor, occasional, neighborly annoyance (loud talking, a slight aroma of cigarette smoke on the breeze, a crying kid), but it's communal living, and honestly, this type of thing is extremely rare. We were a little bummed that our rent went up when our lease renewed in November, but after spending a month looking for other options, we realized what a truly great place we have, and that the price is pretty much in line with the market for what we enjoy here. Maintenance has ALWAYS come within a day or two of any work order request, and are always so friendly and pleasant. It is very quiet here for a complex. The views are fantastic. The grounds are clean and well maintained. Thank you for a great place to live! read more

Apartment complex advertises as "Luxury" but it doesn't have one inch of luxury inside the apartment. They use cheap matetials like the vinyl floor. About 3 months in my lease the "plastic" floor is torn with the dining chairs in which the apartment staff recommneds me fixing so that I don't get charged. I pay $50 dlls to the maintenance team from another complex and they fix it. Now that my lease is over and I leave the apartment the cheap floor is damaged once again, but management doesn't let me fix it and they charge me $385 dollars to fix about 16 sq ft of cheap plastic flooring. Not even real wood floor would cost that amount. If you love the clubhouse and vegetation of this complex like me, make sure you choose carpet instead of plastic vinyl. read more

We moved out here from San Diego Apts looked really nice online but not the same in person. These are NOT luxury apts maybe in the 80's. I like the location and outside landscape but inside is a different story. They are outdated and repairs are needed frequently- so no running water for hours at a time. I would not live here if I would of seen them before signing a lease out of CA. Now we're stuck for a year. You can get a nicer apt or ever a house for the price if you go down the street. Can't complain about the staff they are really helpful and friendly. read more

I was moving from Michigan to Tucson July 1st 2011. I called around to a few apartment complexes, and landed on Sonoran Terraces. I spoke to a nice fellow, got the information I was looking for and decided this was the apartment for me. I paid my deposit over the phone, and proceeded to move accross country. When I drove into the complex I thought how beautiful it was, nice landscaping, well kept buildings, I was in love with the clay tile roof. I signed my lease, paid my first months rent and whatever other little things to seal the deal. I drove to my apartment and noticed immediately it did NOT have granite counter-tops as the man told me it had, I called the office right away, and was told by the manager that they call it "Granite like" This is not granite like, it's just standard developers counter tops from Lowes or Home Depot. The carpet was not new as described, and there were flecks, or chips in the faucets. We were told it was JUST redone, and I can clearly see it has been redone, but maybe a year or two ago, not JUST redone. He also mentioned over the phone before we moved that were was a little "utility" construction. When we got here it looked like they blew La Cholla Blvd up... This is not utility construction, it's major construction. The staff is very nice, even the manager is very nice. But be aware of the above. I gave this a two star rating due to the "mis-tellings" given by the leasing agent. read more

After living at Sonoran Terraces for over 2 years and leaving my apartment in immaculate condition, being assured I would be receiving my full deposit back at my move out inspection. My refund deposit was shorted by $50. The reason stated was a non return of the gym room card key. I had used this room once in the entire time I lived there. The card I was given didn't work, I went into the office and asked them if I was doing something wrong it wouldn't open the door... The leasing girl came out and tried my card... It didn't work for her either and she just let me in, telling me the card would need to be reprogrammed and that "this sometimes happens"... I left the gym that day, I never went back. I never received my "reprogramed" gym door entry card key back from anyone in the office. As I never used the room again. Upon my decision to leave Sonoran Terrace much of the original staff had moved on, the Manager Lisa of over 25 plus years was no longer the manager of this complex.. I informed the new manager Chad of my gym key card situation. He said no problem it wouldn't be an issue... Imagine my shock when I call him to let him know my check was shorted. He told me yes, because he couldn't find my gym card! This card was not lastly in my possession and was left in the possession of the Sonoran Terrace staff as I had prior explained to him. He had a poor attitude and was basically telling me that it was too bad and not his problem. I immediately wanted Lisa Sandoval number and all contact information for corporate as I will seek damages in small claims court if necessary. This key card was defunct and lastly in ST staff possession. They are charging me a $50 fee for their own mismanaged office in misplacing my key. I am livid at this poorly handled return of my deposit as I had clearly spoke to this new manager Chad prior to my move out regarding this very situation. I wouldnt in good conscience refer anyone to live at this complex with this deceitful and unethically managed new staff. I am disgusted with the new management handling of this situation. I have several friends on this property all will know of this.. I would not recommend anyone moving into this complex with Chad being the manager as he talks out of both sides of his mouth. He's clearly not fit to be a leader. Lisa Sandoval was actually in the gym room the one and only time I ever used this room she entered the room with a contractor and they discussed at length the remodeling plans she had for the improved gym room. She has as of yet not returned my phone call. My family has lived there forever- many years- management is very responsive and the grounds are beautiful and it is immaculate on the outside,,,, My only issue has been the old washers and dryers- they should be replaced and not repaired constantly- The management and staff are very nice and they keep the place up! I highly recommend this complex.... I live in a "luxury" apartment complex that is much more expensive in Tucson and while the inside is new and beautiful the upkeep of the outside is pitiful and not acceptable. I have lived here since 1992, and have been very pleased with Sonoran Terraces. The staff is friendly and helpful, the clubhouse is superb with amenities such as a billiard room and computer lounge, and my apartment is spacious and comfortable. Noise level is good, and at the moment, I have a good group of neighbors around me. I am also very pleased with the fact that as of April 2017, Sonoran Terraces became a non-smoking community. read more

I have had two minor maintenance requests; a faucet that was hard to shut off and a smoke detector that had failed. Both were fixed the next day. Also, I recently forgot my apartment key and, even though it was after hours, someone was still in the office complex and they opened up for me and made me a spare key right away (at no charge). Loved this place! My husband and I were looking in the North west area of Tucson for a home. We fell in love with the facilities and the staff was very helpful. We were shown the apartment that was available ( which was a first in our apartment search, everyone else showed us models). The apartment was great! wonderful floor plan, huge! for an apartment. We ultimately chose another apartment because the Sonoran Terraces did not have a ground floor apartment available in our time frame, but I was sad. read more

We have lived at Sonoran Terraces since 2013, and recently renewed our lease for another year (and hopefully more after that). The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and the community is quiet and friendly. Though not completely updated, our unit has been well-maintained and is quite nice. The amount we pay in rent is reasonable compared to other rentals we've looked at, and the management has been willing to work with us on small updates to our unit. Speaking of the staff...they are wonderful! Everyone we have worked with has been knowledgeable and upfront about policies and procedures, in addition to being friendly and easy to work with. When we have had maintenance issues, the staff has been quick to respond and get everything squared away. I would happily recommend Sonoran Terraces to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to call home. read more

I just moved here from LA to these apartments, and I am so happy with them! The landscaping is gorgeous - it really is like a park. The staff is friendly and professional, and made the move-in very easy. My apartment is huge (1206 square feet) with a full-sized washer and dryer in a separate utility room. I even have a wood-burning fireplace! Best of all, the rent is less than half of what I was paying for a comparable apartment in a very desirable area of Los Angeles. We LOVE living here! This place has everything we could possibly want. The 2BR, 2BA is spacious and comfortable. We live upstairs, and the vaulted ceilings in the kitchen and living room add to the sense of spaciousness. It's clear that the management takes pride in this property, inside and out. The grounds are stunning, and the apartments are elegant. The large balcony has room for a table and chairs as well as lots of plants. All the office staff is courteous and gracious, and they're very responsive to maintenance requests as well as all other concerns. I left Sonoran Terraces in Oct of 2013 after living there 13 years. I was very comfortable and the staff was always good to me. The improvements to the clubhouse, etc were a bit long in coming but beautiful when done. Thanks to Lisa primarily and the other agents I met along the way. read more

I've lived at Sonoran Terraces for 2 years and just signed a lease for another year. I had looked at almost every apartment complex months before selling my home and I can honestly tell you that for the price this is one exceptional apartment complex. I'm currently renting a one bedroom apartment on the second floor. It has vaulted ceilings, 6 windows and a sliding glass door that let in beautiful, natural light. The apartment itself is large and the light just adds to the feeling of spaciousness. I rarely hear my neighbor below and he says he rarely hears me or my dogs. The grounds are beautifully kept and I feel safe here no matter the time of day. I walk my dogs at all times of the night and have never had any kind of problem. The maintenance department have always responded quickly any time I've needed them, usually arriving the same day I email or call in my request. The office personnel have always been wonderful,very caring and helpful. All in all I can't think of a better place to call home. I always recommend my complex to anyone looking for an apartment home. read more
