EDITED: after my original post Dr. Kumar did contact me and asked me to remove my review. He promised a medical grade cream would resolve the scars and repeated burn tissue. At first he was so eager to help but then I called to leave messages and never heard anything back. The person I talked to wanted me to make an appointment but I mentioned, no I need to speak with the person who is aware of my situation. It seems as though whoever is at the front desk is completely unaware. Perhaps there needs to be better communication. I'm not certain. In any case, I paid a lot of money and now on top of a partially removed tattoo - I have a very large keloid scar. It swells in the sun and itches - it still stings a bit when I lay on it wrong. It's SO much worse than having the unwanted tattoo. Each visit cost anywhere from $600-275 and that's to the tune of 6 visits. I'm a regular working mom just hoping to correct a regrettable tattoo. Now I'm left trying to hide. Perhaps this is all a bit personal but I wish I knew what I know now to avoid a costly and extremely painful mistake. The cream did very little, if anything. I at this point I'm just so discouraged. It doesn't help that when my scar/tattoo combo shows that coworkers, acquaintances and strangers make comments - ask what happened -- and any other number of unwanted comments. Of course I always tell them where it came from. Dr. Kumar asked me to take down the original photo and review because it wouldn't be fair if he was helping me to post that. After 1 visit he down played how I felt about the scarring and was mostly concerned about placating me. I did remove it though and waited for the medical grade cream to do its magic. Here is an update. The spa is great and I find the staff to be professional and very attentive. I've been back there for other procedures that I am thrilled with. However, after enduring the uncomfortable cool sculpting procedure I was optimistic about the results. But, sadly it did not work for me. After spending $6000 on a procedure that gave me minimal results, I opted to try a different procedure from a well known competitor that does micro liposuction with 2 day recovery time. The staff here is so friendly. I've been going for my laser treatments and have enjoyed my visit each time. The ladies are very accommodating and knowledgeable, the rooms are very clean. I'm always early for my appointments and they are so wonderful about seeing me on time or early. Definitely a plus for me! I can't recommend this place enough. I've been to other spas and I never had this awesome of an experience. Not to mention caring and helpful the staff was. This not place that is going just inject you and then toss you out the door like you ain't nothing but a dollar sign. They take time to get your treatment set up, get you exactly what you want, and make sure you are happy when you leave. I got Botox and let me tell you what, barely felt the injections and that's without numbing, ice, or anything. I felt so comfortable the whole time. This was the first place I came to get juvederm lip injections. I researched and believed it was A good place to go. NEVER AGAIN They didn't numb my lips and just injected it straight in... ridiculous. I was completely unaware at the time that the lidocaine inside the actual injection doesn't work until minutes after it's been injected. Horrible fucking service I now go to superior aesthetics where it's cheaper a Physician places the product and I get my lips numbed 30 minutes before they are injected. I'd highly recommend this company if you'd enjoy a trip to the emergency room in intense pain from third degree burns. I'd gone in for my under arm and bikini area to have laser hair removal. The first couple of appointments went alright, I'd thought. I'd been burned pretty badly, but she handed me baby powder and some knockoff lotion to put on the burns. My skin peeled and blistered, but like a fool I'd returned because I wasn't sure if this was expected. The following visit, the tech was training a brand new girl. She'd never done it before. I was left alone with her while she'd left the room. The machine was turned up and she went to town on my private parts without supervision. She was not supposed to perform the hair removal without supervision, but did so anyway. After a brief cover up by the staff I was sent home. After two days of icing my girl parts due to the intense pain I'd gone to the emergency room where they'd told me I'd had third degree burns and a severe infection. I'd called the "spa" several times with no response until I'd threatened a law suit. They met with me then never answered my calls again. I'd called dozens of times. They get your money and cause permanent bodily injury then ignore you. Is this where you want to spend your money? I went through Hell with the pain and my tattoo is ruined. The hair removal never worked and never got a refund. What a lovely experience. Since posted this review I have basically been called a liar by the owner of this business because they have not found my "yelp alias" in their system. Their information was saved in my phone. There is no mixup as far as which clinic I'd visited for services. It's offensive to claim I'm not intelligent enough to know the difference. Of course I don't use my full name online. I've also been publicly accused by the owner of "targeting" their company. Look at the photos and see for yourself. They cannot be faked. I was injured by this company and ignored for months. Now they threaten to have my review deleted because it shows what could really happen when you use a laser on a client and the technician isn't properly trained. Removal of true and honest reviews is unfair to the prospective clients. If my review is deleted I'll only post it again because y'all need to know what to expect if things don't go as planned. It's a LASER. There're serious risks. Please do your research before attending any clinic. And I still have the same hair growth as before treatments because they REFUSED any more appointments after my burns, yet I got no refund. I am really skeptical about Groupon, so when I purchased an IPL treatment in order to correct sun damage I really was desperate to remove I was glad I found Sonterra Med Spa. I appreciate the customer service Cori my favorite esthetician provides. She suggested a micro needling after my IPL and because her own skin is flawless I trusted her. She makes the experience a pleasant one even when it can be a bit of a discomfort. I am on my second treatment and really can't wait for my third. I don't have a hairy chest ssooo....yea? For all 6 treatments. I attempted to clarify it with the tech on my last visit and she said something about every time except the last time it was full. There was never anything above the belly button. I will also be contacting Groupon about this*** I, like several others purchased a Groupon for laser hair removal. I wish I had read the reviews. Oddly, these reviews of Sonterra's customers consistently indicate (not ironically) they have been underwhelmed at best with the laser hair removal service. I will be adding to that. Having gotten numerous "successful" Laser Hair Removal elsewhere, (yes, even while using Groupons) paired with numerous dissatisfied customers like myself there is clearly something mechanically happening with their laser or their Groupon is a scam. Either way, their machine does not work REMOTLEY close to how it should. I agree, the tech was rushed, even while I was stating my concerns about it not working she wouldn't turn the laser fully up to see if that would allow a better treatment. I purchased a "small" area for my abdominal trail... she would literally get the handheld attachment and do one line down the middle. I would be in and out in less that five minutes. Again, having received laser hair removal before, this is NOT how it is to be done. It makes me wonder if there is a contest happening about how many negative laser hair removal reviews she can rustle up, because if I were her manager and saw this pattern I would one, update my machine that is clearly not functioning (properly) and two, speak to her about customer service. I have become loyal customers to spas that I found using Groupon based off their customer service and results. Bottom line: minimal if any results. I have had several treatments here over the course of a year and I am satisfied every single time. I have had IPL which turned out great, a great micro needling session, Botox and now lip fillers. Jess does my botox and now my lips. She is so nice and so is all of the staff. The products and technology is great and the office is always in order. Wish I could give ZERO STARS for this grasping, greedy doctor only out to maximize patient spend. I had a serious complication from a routine injection of filler about six months ago and my face swelled up like a balloon! I had to call back SIX TIMES and threaten to see a specialist at their expense (complete with lawsuit), before the doctor would call me back. Imagine how scary it was to have your face swell up and you paid money for that! Oh, my, as long as they had my check they weren't interested in following up, they told me I'd have to wait three weeks to come back in. Finally, when I was able to see the doctor, he followed the issue and it eventually the swelling calmed down. Do you think they offered a refund? Oh, please!! You're making me laugh. Their concern for their patients is exactly NOTHING. This is reflected in the behavior of both the doctor and the staff. Months later, (now a few weeks ago) I missed an appointment because I had a sudden death in my family. Today when I called, they demanded to charge me $25 for a missed appointment, not caring even that my sister just died suddenly and I missed the appointment because I was at a funeral! Of course, it WAS silly of me to think my personal dramas of death etc. are more important than "doctor"s revenue stream. I can't believe I might have imagined a death of a loved would be of the slightest concern to any of them. Does concern their revenue? No? OK then let's move on. "Sorry, If we excused you missing an appointment due to a death in the family, we'd have to excuse every other missed appointment. People die every day, ma'am." WOW. I recommend you go someplace else - any place else - and get a doctor who treats you like a human being - with understanding, responsiveness and compassion. I have had a great experience coming here so far. I decided to do laser hair removal on my legs and brazillian. My technician is absolutely lovely and she makes me feel so calm and relaxed in an uncomfortable situation. She's super down to earth and make sure you leave knowledgeable and know how to care for your skin afterwords. I now want to continue the removal and do armpits as well.
