When Ryan came to clean & inspect our chimney, he found that we had some cracks that left him with the opinion that we should not be using our wood burning fireplace. We were devastated, since we use our fireplace a few times per week during the winter. He suggested we add an insert. Since I had worked with my grandfather (a talented mason) in my youth where we repaired 2 chimneys, I was fairly sure we could fix it If I found someone willing. We found Earl Brothers Masonry to do the job. Ryan from Soot Master worked with us throughout the project answering questions as they came up. He inspected the chimney 2 more times. He offered suggestions after the second inspection and then a PASS on the third. We are so grateful to Ryan for his knowledge and his willingness to share it! Ryan said he couldn't clean our chimney because it was an insert. He was here for all of 8 minutes, and charged my gullable wife a "service charge" of $125.00 .I consider it a rip off. I emailed him and asked for our money back. He refused. So we have been scammed, I wouldn't recomend his service. read more

We knew when we purchased our home that our fireplace needed attention, however, we were in the dark on exactly what the situation was. Soot Master came recently when my appointment (made 2 months ago) came. I highly recommend them! Ryan did a very conciencious job, showed me photos during and after his inspection & cleaning, replaced my spark arrestor with a new stainless steel arrestor chimney cap. He repaired a few minor cracks (not serious) and gave me a full report verbally & then emailed me a full report for my records with photos.
