First time here and it was an awesome manicure/pedicure for $30. Really thorough on cutical removal and meticulous detail on the polish. My feet feel super soft and clean! I did notice that there were plastic boxes with customer names on it which is a great idea! It creates loyalty with customers and feels sanitary since the same tools are used on those customers. Best nail shop in town. Been going to the same place for over five years now, and I still love the service. I just tried the powder dip yesterday for the first time. I have heard mixed reviews in the past that the end result for the powder dip were not that great and the finish was somewhat lumpy. It made me hesitant to try it. Well Ms May my nail tech was very encouraging and I tried it. The results for my first trial were amazing and superb, smooth finish and very satisfied with the service. I visited this nail shop during a trip to Baltimore. I had broken several nails during my travels and decided to have all of them removed and get a new full set. I wasn't incredibly impressed by the job that was done, but I thought it was passable until I could return home and get them done as my usual place. Until a little over a week later when I was packing to return home and noticed that one of nails was lifting! I'm not exactly sure what the technician neglected to apply, but it was a real disappointment. It popped off by the end of the day. read more

Prior to the pandemic, I would rate it 4 stars. I don't know what is going on, but the staff always gets reduced to just one person for several long periods of time. So, I feel like appointments and walk in availability are limited. The lady is nice and tries her best to make the experience good though so that's why I'm giving at least 3 stars. Her work is good though, but can feel rushed when she is the only person working. She doesn't rush customers, but it is like you can tell she is rushing a little when polishing and putting top coats on etc. read more

The first time I came here it was a Thursday afternoon (12:30pm) and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. It was nearly an hour wait and took another 2 hours to do a basic pedicure and a gel manicure. Was not pleased with the shape of my nails either. The gel nails began to chip less than a week after. I decided to give them another chance because it is convenient to my house and their prices are so reasonable. Much happier with the shape of my nails and didnt take a long as the last time. I will continue to come here due to convenience. Not dirty but just outdated and the techs speak very little English so it can be difficult to communicate at times. They prefer cash tips as well but you can put them on your credit card of you forget cash. read more

Peter did my pedicure and took so much time and care to make sure my nails are perfect. May did my dip manicure and took the same amount of care. I am going to have to try this place again, as I was in a rush and did not go for the extra nice pedicure. I went in for a quick pedicure as a walk-in because it had simply been too long. I was excited because I saw Sophia Nails and Spa had their own parking lot, and parking is challenging along this strip of Harford Rd. I pulled in and there was ample parking. I came through the back entrance of the shop, which seemed like the storage area. Once inside, the lone employee working asked me what services I wanted, and despite working on another customer's pedicure, jumped up and started prepping my seat. The customer was on his cell phone on speaker, so I don't think he was bothered by it at all. She continued to bounce between the two of us (making sure the temperature was good for me) until her coworker arrived. He had barely entered the building when he was sitting in front of me like he had been there all day. A perfectly lovely pedicure ensued, and they began to get a little more crowded. I don't know how the two of them managed it on a Sunday afternoon, but everyone was being comfortable taken care of, and I headed home in less than 30 minutes with some clean and colorful toenails! I will definitely be back, but will make an appointment and go for the mid-range pedicure instead of the economy. I loved like atmosphere and vibe. Smelled nice and not super chemically , granted I was there noon on a Wednesday. She fixed my gel nails (acrylic ) and I also received a polish change , $23 total. Gel full set is $27 so I'm kinda not understanding why a polish change would be so steep but it was an okay job, after power filling I noticing she a crack in my L thumb nail that was clearly not there before , she didn't fix it . She said it would be okay so I just left alone bc I've had a hell of a week with these nails . I'll post pictures. First color with broken nail is 2 coats of G054 and polish change was 3 coats of g169. read more

If I could give Zero Stars I would. I am extremely upset! I picked this place due to all the outstanding review. I called and made an appointment a day in advance. I should have known right off the bat it wasn't going to turn out well. I made it for 6pm for a Fill-in & Pedicure & the woman didn't even want to take my name at first & was just rushing me off the phone. When I arrived for my appointment the place was closed early with no signs as to why they had closed so early. So very unprofessional. Goes to show you can't always go by the great reviews you read! I thought about not leaving a review so I could keep this little gem of a shop to myself, but then I realized how selfish that was. Stopped in without an appointment. Waited just a few minutes before I was guided to a chair for my pedi. Water was warm and she asked twice if the temp was ok. There was an ad for their new deluxe pedicure on the chair but I opted for the standard. She removed the old polish, trimmed, shaped, and removed cuticles. Calf salt scrub massage. Pumice stone scrub of the soles of my feet. Calf oil massage. Hot towel massage. Reminder: this is the standard pedi. Base coat, 2 coats polish, top coat. No cuts. No wincing. No messy paint job. Fantastic. Since I was having such a good time, I figured I'd let her go ahead and do a wax. I'm a hairy little monkey, so let's do the works: brows, lip, chin. I thought of telling her how to do my brows but I don't like to tell people how to do their job so I let her have at it. She spent forever on my brows, in a good way. They look amazing. She didn't try to thin them out and left them looking totally natural. I couldn't be more pleased. I might stop doing my own brows. The overall wax experience was nearly painless and I'm pretty sure the wax smelled like chocolate. There's some sorcery going on in that room. All of this cost me less than $50. I'm blown away by service in relation to the price. Definitely my new go to spot. read more

Just got back from my first visit to Sophia's. As I told my technician, Christina, it will not be my last! She she treated me like a queen, speaking to me as much as to her fellow technicians. I went there for the first time yesterday and I received a pedicure. The atmosphere was nice and Sophia was very friendly. She offered me water and fruit snacks. The pedicure was good, but the paint application was bad. My paint is now chipping within 24hrs. Sophia didn't do my pedi but the woman who did, it didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. They have a wide range of gel colors but not enough non gel paint. I'd recommend any who comes here to buy their own nail polish because the polish that I picked out was almost empty which didn't help make the application any better. After being throughly impressed by Sophia's glowing reviews, I had an acrylic full set applied there and was incredibly underwhelmed by the experience. While the shop was not lacking in pleasant atmosphere (nice music; friendly, gregarious patrons, etc.), my service was quite shoddy. The nail tech could not consistently produce an oval shape - if the nail wasn't crooked, it was visibly different from the others. In fact, when she stepped away for a moment, I picked up the nail file to correct her work after she failed to shape them properly a second time. In fifteen years of wearing acrylics, I've never had file to my own nails mid service! Also, despite having very short acrylics applied, I was charged an extra $5 for the oval (ish) shape. I would have no qualms about this if it wasn't a peculiar practice due to the popularity of more pointed nail shapes (which I've never been charged extra for) and my inconsistent results. This was a disappointing experience overall and I'm still on the hunt for a good nail tech - or at least one willing to heed my request for properly shaped nails! read more

My first Yelp review goes to..... The absolute worst nail experience I have ever had! I went to this place because my regular nail shop was closed and I was in desperate need of nail care. (I was going on a small vacation the next day) So I looked to Yelp for for some reviews on nail shops nearby that aren't crazy expensive. This place had favorable reviews and for the most part had great pics of the work they had performed on the patrons. To start, it was fairly empty which I originally attributed to it being 2pm and everyone being at work. I had the day off so.... At any rate the lady asked me to come right over for my pedicure. She was very polite and friendly which I appreciated. However; she is probably the worst nail tech I've ever encountered. She didn't nip the dead skin from my cuticles or even push them back. Whats even more outrageous is... she painted my toes like a 3 year old...I literally had paint all over my toes. I've never seen such! She eventually took most of the polish off of my skin after with some acetone, but the paint job was still crappy. Next she attempts to tackle my nail application. Once again...HORRIBLE from start to finish. First the lumpy acrylic... I said something to her about it and she said she will fix it once she buffs it out (never happened). She then asks what shape I wanted, I replied oval. Please tell me what is so hard about an oval shape? For the life of her, she couldn't get it right. So some guy who wasn't working there but was a friend to one of the nail techs asks me if I liked my nails and I said no! So they send me over to some other guy who is equally as bad. I left with lumpy, crooked and barely polished nails. Needless to say, that was my first and last time there. Please go elsewhere, you've been warned! read more

I just switched to Sophia and am so happy I did. Like someone else said, I'd stayed with another salon for years out of loyalty but began to feel very much like a dollar sign and never a person: the last time, the man never smiled once, never made eye contact, and even yelled at me for moving when he was drilling and hit my skin. I did complain to the owner and told her I wouldn't be coming back. So, as I was reluctantly shopping for a new place, I realized how close Sophia's was to my house so I gave it a try. Bingo! I tried Sophia Nail for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Walking in, the place was COMPLETELY empty on a Saturday afternoon. I had my acrylics refilled, the they really did look nice after they were done. Why am I only giving it one star then? 1) The man that did my nails (the owner?) started ranting about politics for no reason and saying how horrible this country is, and saying how much he hated illegal immigrants. This is all well and good if you're friends with someone to have those kinds of talks, but not to a stranger. AT ALL. 2) When I took my nail polish off yesterday to get my nails refilled (at a different salon), 3 of my nails were GREEN. The nail tech at this new place told me my fill was done improperly at Sophia Nail, water had gotten under them, and that this was fungus. I had to take all of my acrylics off and I can't put them on for at least a month. (For those wondering, I've only had acrylics on for about 2 months.) I can pretty safely say that this place ruined my nails. NEVER going back. read more

Got a pedicure here with my daughter yesterday morning. Very nice experience, pleasant environment with hardworking nail techs. Very professional attitude and work ethic. They spent a lot of time on my feet (I hadn't had a pedicure in over 3 months) & my feet and legs feel and look wonderful. My nails looked decent but I had to just get a polish change instead of manicure because I couldn't want any more. This place is Awesome. I got a french pedicure and it was amazing. The lines are even & clean and the pedicure itself was awesome as well. The young lady (i forgot to catch her name) was amazingly polite, asked how we found out about the place and checked to make sure everything was to my liking. I also had my eyebrows done and i can't tell you how happy i am with them. I haven't had my eyebrows waxed (usually do threading) in years but i was way overdue so i decided to give it a try. She took her time and made sure everything was right, They are very natural looking, aren't too thin (which a lot of places seem to do) and have a nice arch. I came with my friend and she had a mani-pedi with Le and it looks beautiful. Even though we ran a bit over closing, we never once felt rushed. I went in there about a week ago for a simple pedicure with white nail polish. The nail polish was clumpy on my toes and they tried to fix it twice but it still did not look like a professional job. I kindly asked them to fix it a third time because it was clumpy and at this point there was nail polish smeared on my toes and even on my sandals from their poor efforts of trying to fix their poor job. The woman got very irate by my request and demanded that I pay for the services since they spent so long trying to fix it. I of course refused especially since she was yelling at me loudly in front of other customers. I gave her $15 and went else where for a color change. If they were even at all apologetic I would've felt bad for them and just paid for the full service but they don't even deserve charity. Also they knew it didn't look good because they kept saying "it's not too bad". If I'm paying for services and tipping well it should be exceptional not just "not too bad". Avoid them at all cost. This WAS my favorite Nail Salon. Friendly people, nice atmosphere and most of all I was ALWAYS satisfied with my manicures and pedicures. No complaints. I went in the salon last week and noticed how empty it was...ALL OF THE NAIL TECHS ARE GONE!!! Licenses are gone, brushes, etc. I asked the one guy where was everyone..he said they left!! . I needed a fill in so I let him do it...he used the file over my cuticles **ouch**, but he was nice. But he sent me to an older lady to polish my nails. She ws clearly blind. My nails looked like a 3 year-old polished it..polish all over my fingers, missing the sides of my nails and the accent nails were ATROCIOUS! Another young lady tried to FILE the thick polish off ane burnt my nail. Omg. 5 days later both of those nails broke off from her filing the polish and acrylic off..oh yeah he used acrylic instead of a gel fill-in that I asked for. NEVER AGAIN. Sophia Nails is clean and the staff is professional. The prices are great for a regular pedicure it was about $20. They have a good nail color selection. Their tools appear to be sterilized in packets and they use liners on the foot bath. My nails look really good and I will go back! read more
