I just moved to Ventura to be with my Fiance and I needed to get my full lace Justin Alexander Wedding Dress fitted in short notice and Lordis was amazing! I had heard of this place because my future mom n law would come here for dresses & fittings for her daughters dances, pagents, etc... for over 15 years. Lordis fit me that same day and said it would take a week maybe 2 to get the dress fitted bc they had to individually unsew the intriciate lace from the mesh keyhole, cut it to fit my back, frame, and neckline, and resew the lace perfectly so the dress looks untouched. She was extremely professional and sweet. The place on 5th street was rather old and the dressing rooms and mirror display area was pretty "vintage" but I still felt gorgeous in my gown fitting and super excited. (I bought my gown from Bella Bucci's on Main st! for a fair price and she had me try on 10-15 dresses, still bought the first one I tried on! Appointments only for Bella Bucci's but I walked in to get my appointment same day!) I was very nervous about getting my dress fitted because only a skilled seamstress knows how to correctly unsew and resew the intricate and delicate lace to mesh. To my surprise Lordis called me the very next day and said my dress was all ready to pick up! WHAT LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!! I went and retried it and it fit like a GORGEOUS glove to my body! AMAZING WORK! and super fast! She also charged me an extremely competitive price as I had been to other bridal tailors before going to Lordis w/ my new moms referral and she purposely said she would charge me less than the other quotes I got if I went with her. I am so happy about my dress and I will show pics of the work she did in a few weeks (AFTER MY WEDDING in case my Fiance snoops my Yelp! haha)! The 5th street location is now closed bc the building was bought but they are now in New Location in the Pacific Mall on Main st 1st floor! These ladies helped me out a lot. I needed a formal dress and hadn't been able to find one I liked anywhere in town. I went to bridal store down the street which also couldn't help me but she referred me to this store. The quality of their formal dresses varies a lot. I tried on several dresses that I felt were of a poorer quality than I would have purchased. Also, the dress selection leans toward prom or quinceanera more than adult formal so I was about to give up. The owner of the store asked me a few questions about what I was looking for then pointed me to several dresses. One of them worked out beautifully. It wasn't very expensive. She had it altered and returned to me within the week. They are incredibly nice ladies and they gave me a wonderful product. Be realistic about your expectations from this small store but they are definitely worth a look. read more

I went in looking for a dress for the marine corps ball...the lady asked me the date of the ball and I told her...I then started looking for dresses..I found one I liked and I decided to try it on..I was then informed that I would have to pay $25 just to TRY ON the dress because I might 'RIP THE ZIPPER??' Umm im never going here again!! And I highly suggest U don't either!!!!! read more

Horrible customer service!! We first started at their other store at the ventura mall, the girl working there was extremely nice and very helpful. We had questions and she had answeres. We needed a specific dress with multiple colors and she said yes we can definitely do that. There were some issues but she addressed them and we were ok with them. She then let us know of their other store, this one. So we decided to come in and speak to someone. As soon as we started explaining what we wanted she said, NO, we don't do that. Nope, uh no. Then we explained we were at there ventura store and the other girl said yes. Suddenly the story changed and they could do it, but it was going to be very very....very expensive. Ok we got it. Then 2 other ladies walk in, speaking to her in spanish and she's talking over us, helping them!!! While we are at the freakin counter!!! Needless to say walked out pretty upset. No stars for this place. I went to the Pacific View Mall and found what I thought was a hidden gem. I was so wrong. The sales associate who worked there helped me find a beautiful dress. She suggested a few alterations which they could do themselves to make it fit perfect. 1 week later they left a voicemail instructing me to go try the altered dress in their Oxnard location (was not expecting that). I tried the dress on and the dress did NOT fit. Everything was completely off!!! The straps were uneven and it wouldn't zip up. The lady who did the alterations then told me that she hadn't taken in the dress, she only did what I wanted her to do. I told her the only thing I had them do is what her sales associate had suggested I do. She then proceeded to tell me there something was wrong with my back and I should see I chiropractor. She even gave me the number to a chiropractor!! After trying to get to the bottom of what could have gone wrong she said I could pay an additional $25 to take the alterations off! Mind you I had already spent $230.00 for the dress and original alterations. Bottom line...I have a dress that fits like a size 6 and I am a size 12. They will not help me in any way and refuse to listen to me. No refunds, no exchanges, no returns. read more

Zero stars!!!! This place is HORRIBLE!!! They ruined my dress and they were extremely rude to me about it. They charged me way too much to destroy my dress. After I complained they said they can't do anything for me and it's my fault because I have a weird body shape?! The dress does not fit me at all. First off the breast is almost up to my chin and when I zip the back it pinches my back very badly. Obviously I would not buy a dress that fits me extremely and unforgivingly tight.When I asked them to fix it they refused. The dress came in a size 12 and I am a size 10, and it left as a size 6- I know this because it fits my youngest daughter!!! Don't waste a good dress, money, and time on this place. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! I bought a quinceanera dress for my niece at this location. The lady seemed nice and very friendly. The dress needed alterations and I trusted that they would get done....WRONG!!! They left the pins in the dress! They made no alterations what so ever! I called the day of the event and the owner was no help at all. She wanted me to stop the event and take the dress in. We were finding pins in the dress all day because they were poking my niece. The lady also ordered a size bigger and didn't even tell us. I will never go back there! I am very disappointed with this dress shop. read more

I had always driven by this store and admired the dresses in the windows but never stopped in or had any reason to. After visiting other dress shops I was disappointed with the horrible customer service. So one day I ended up here by accident. I ended up finding the exact dress in the right size that my daughter saw in a catalog.The price was reasonable! From the moment I walked in, to the day I picked up my daughters beautiful dress after alterations, fitting and steam press, I was always treated wonderful and always felt like I as the customer was important. They even made a bolero jacket from the dress' shawl to match the dress since my daughter is a teenager and the dress was stapless. PLEASE DO NOT EVER COME HERE. I went in for a dress alteration and the owner took my measurements she was pressuring and pushing myself an my mom to either letting them alter it or not and being short on time we let them do so. When I came a week later to pick it up and try it on my mom noticed how uneven it was from the hem line. From the back you could see my heels and on the front it was dragging. After a long discussion on how my mom wanted the problem solved the lady said they cut it more from the front so it won't drag. We were still really upset on how the back was way too short however. So after another dispute on the lady said she would not do anything to our dress and would not return any money . HORRIBLE SERVICE. Paid 50$ for them to ruin my dress. read more

Don't waste your time with this place!!!!!! This store is absolutely awful!!!!! They have the worst customer service and are not helpful at all!!!!! I made an appointment and had trouble finding the place, called to ask for directions and they told me my appointment was canceled because I was late (mind you I was lost/ didn't know the area.) Not to mention when I made the appointment, I was not informed of the "cancelation" policy. Then when I called back and asked to speak with the manager, the woman clearly was not truthful in telling me that she was the manager because when I asked for her name she gave me the run around for about a minute, then hung up on me!!! This place is a nightmare! They sold a dress to my sister that does not even fit. She was nervous and by herself hoping to get assistance from a "seasoned" team. The owner is unreal! She was so rude and wouldn't even consider taking the dress back. She told me, "We did not force her to sign the credit card statement, she is not a child, she can make her own decisions, she knows it did not fit her." She ended the statement with, "we are here to sell dresses." How dare someone sell a dress that is too small. My sister was alone and just excited about the engagement and seemed pressured into the purchase. Most upscale places advise you to take some time as it is an important purchase. And while they said they would "fix it by adding a corset" when we took it to a professional seamstress it was a different story. She said there is no way you could add that without it looking like an afterthought. I am so shocked that someone could feel ethical in running their business like this. I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau as well as their processes were not in check. Furthermore, taking this business to the local news. read more
