I went in thinking I could just jump right back in to the color, highlights and cut I used to have. Unfortunately, after that illness and age, my hair had irreversibly changed and was too weak to take the processes it would take to make my "fantasy" happen. Naz was honest with me, empathetic and kind..she gave me realistic suggestions and "held my hand" throughout, used products that actually helped my hair and educated me on how to use them. I didn't walk out with the fantasy, but I did walk out with healthy, beautiful hair with a great cut. My husband noticed my hair right away (after 20 years of marriage this is a rare occurrence) and thought it looked amazing. And at the end of the day, I felt great about my hair and that's how you want to feel when you walk out of the salon. I cannot recommend Naz and Salon Biology enough!

A few days after my appointment, I called to let them know I wasn't happy with the results. I was told to wait about three weeks before coming back to have it redone. When I called back after that, no one answered. I then left for a work trip to Japan. When I returned, I submitted a request through their website asking for a refund. Someone from the salon called me and asked if I wanted to come back and have the same technician redo the service. I politely asked if I could have a different technician instead, but I was told that wasn't an option. Since I wasn't comfortable having the same person perform the service again, I again requested a refund. Then the owner told me it's too late to have someone at the salon redo it or to get a refund. Horrible customer service. I've attached photos comparing the results. The first photo is the lash lift I received from Salon Biology. The second photo is from a different salon that charged about half the price, and the results were dramatically better. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Salon Biology for lash lifts. I was disappointed not only with the quality of the service but also with how my concerns were handled. I will not be returning.

Although she did great work, she overcharged for everything and was supremely late for every appointment. And I'm not talking 5 to 10 minutes late. I'm talking 35 to 40 minutes late. So after suffering for all this time, I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. Amity Hair salon happens to be just a couple of blocks away from where my son and his partner live on Sawtelle. They had both recently gotten really great haircuts there so I decided to try it. And man, am I ever glad I did. As many of the positive reviews here say, Hidemi is pretty much the best stylist and colorist ever. I was really nervous walking in as a white blonde woman because I don't think this Japanese hair salon handles many of those. But my first experience and my second have convinced me that , this is my new go-to hair salon. The first time I walked in, I noticed the sense of peace, relaxation and minimalist decor that this hair studio, tucked away in the corner of a shopping mall, offered. But it wasn't until I had my haircut and then washed and styled by Hidemi that I fully understood what a Japanese hair salon is all about. Hidemi is honestly one of the kindest, loveliest, most caring, and professional people I have ever come across. I think my son and his Chinese American girlfriend for referring me to this wonderful place. Both of them have gotten their hair cut here before, so I knew that Hidemi could handle both white blonde American hair as well as coarse Asian hair. Hidemi is sweet, kind and accommodating as well as an absolute master of her craft!! I felt almost kind of guilty coming into a Japanese hair salon, where I did not speak Japanese. Everyone wrote so highly of her, prompting me to bookmark the business, so as not to lose a possibility for future use. Prior to combing through Yelp, I had just wet my hair under the kitchen faucet, quickly toweled it dry, and dashed to the car with the aim of fitting in a much needed haircut at another place. When I typed the address in to GPS, it turned out they had already closed at 6pm (instead of 7pm, as I had thought). All three of the other places I had been considering were by appointment only, likewise closed, or too far away (with traffic) for me to make it in time. Fariba was also closing soon. I decided to act quickly, not overthink it, and take a chance. I called to see if there were any cancellations in the next 20 minutes, and she was able to fit me in right away. (What a blessing.) Because my hair is quite short, was growing out into a bit of a mess (after shaving it off the last time), and I had not previously been happy with the places I had tried, I really did not know what to expect. Simultaneously, I had a very positive feeling from within, and felt surprisingly hopeful. It was indeed my good fortune to find Fariba. She is warm, kind, detail-oriented, very highly skilled, reasonably priced, and an absolute delight. This woman is a bright light! (Truth be told, she also rescued me from shaving my head yet again, which I really did not want to do right now, because I miss having hair, as well as having a more feminine aesthetic.) Sometimes spontaneity truly rewards us. Not only that, following those sweet little threads of possibility when they arise in consciousness to be noticed, can really open up stagnant energy in myriad ways, leading to rather inspiring outcomes that may potentially impact other areas of life. The visit was akin to receiving some sort of nutritive infusion. During the appointment, I never once felt stressed, anxious, confused, or worried about what the outcome would be. To the contrary, I felt peace and trust. I left feeling uplifted, relieved, more vibrant, and even smiling (which I have not done for some time). It was like dropping by to see a dear friend, after which you depart with a bit more pep in your step, and tangibly more sparkly than when you arrived.
