Fun place to go on a Friday night with friends. Vibes were good. Service attentive and the food was delicious! I had the bolognese tagliatelle for main dish. Meatballs and bread for appetizer with the house red. Shared oven brick pizza which was perfection. The tiramisu and crème brule was ok. It was my friends bday and the whole restaurant sang happy bday to her lol. Will definitely be back for more eats!

Sopra Sotto is always one of my go-to spots when I'm craving some gnocchi! It's always so fluffy and pairs amazingly with the braised beef. My friend ordered the carbonara and loved it - as someone who has a smaller appetite, she finished her entire plate as it was too good not to. We shared the pizza, and it was just like a classic pepperoni pizza it elevated from the wood-fire oven. Sopra Sotto's casual and friendly atmosphere, and wonderful staff make it even better :)

Spent a birthday dinner at this restaurant. I recommend making a reservation, as it gets very busy. Despite being a full restaurant, the food came out very quickly. Our table ordered items to share and I think this is the way to go! For five people we got three pizzas, a salad, and a pasta :) The ragu was delicious. If you have room for dessert, I highly recommend the tiramisu.

I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night, and the wait was around 45 minutes for a table for 2 around 9 PM. Definitely reserve ahead of time, being spontaneous is romantic but eating dinner on time and having time to unwind after is even more so!! My boyfriend ordered the meatballs al sugo along with the truffle pasta, both with parmesan on the side. We liked the meatballs a lot, the bread was really delicious and the meatballs were savory and filling. He was less of a fan of the truffle pasta, but I loved it. The cream and savory flavor from the truffle oil was delicious. I wasn't particularly hungry, so 1 dish was enough to fulfill my hunger! Highly recommend this romantic spot in Little Italy.

Okay so when I lived in East Van why didn't I ever try this place?! The food was great! Service was great and the price isn't too bad! Flavours of the food was great - just wish the crust of the pizza was not completely burnt in some areas.

Loved this place so much, we ended up dining in twice during our trip to Vancouver! It's a cute little restaurant where you can see them making your pizza from any table you sit at. The food was delicious and so were the drinks we ordered. We got our food fairly quickly and everyone we encountered were nice and helped us out. My favorite dish we had has to be the pizza diavola, we ordered it both times we went. Can't recommend enough!

Some of the best pizza I'll ever had. The crust is perfect with a no nonsense approach to the rest of the ingredients. Try the espresso martini. Service is attentive and the atmosphere is cute modern.

3.5 stars 5 stars specifically for the Caserecce e Tartufo (truffle pasta) but the carbonara wasn't as magnificent (3.5 stars) and neither was the service (3.5 stars). Really wanted to find other ways to enjoy our time here to support locals in my neighbourhood but just didn't hit the spot

Calzone (didn't order this, our server messed up)

I wanted to take my aunt out for her birthday but options were limited as it was a stat holiday and also a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays. It was between Pepinos or Sopra Sotto and I made the wrong choice of going here. I ordered their signature Caserecce e Tartufo (truffle mushroom pasta) and Capricciosa (pizza with artichokes, mushrooms, olives, basil). The pasta came out followed by the Calzone Napoletano. I very politely told our server our order was wrong, she got very defensive and repeated herself twice "yes you ordered the calzone." She finally removed the calzone, didn't apologize or tell us when we could expect the pizza we ordered. Caserecce e Tartufo: I love creamy pastas so I really liked this dish! The pasta noodles were cooked al dente and it was flooded with truffle sauce and mushrooms. Capricciosa: their pizza was very mediocre. They were very stingy on the toppings. There were barely any artichokes and they went cheap on the cheese. While I'd reorder the pasta, I'd never come back here again. After getting our order wrong, our server was fake nice/avoiding us for the rest of the night. I asked for a box to pack the rest of our pizza and she brought it over and left. I had to flag her down to ask for a dessert menu. I ordered the tiramisu, hoping she'd put a candle on top, but of course she didn't. (My online reso specifically mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and another server put a candle on the dessert for the table behind us). I asked one of the bus boys for the bill and he was so friendly. Our server really should've transferred our table to her colleague if she was too immature to serve us after getting our order incorrect. She looked really young and inexperienced so I still left her a decent tip, but I definitely recommend going to Oca Pastificio or Pepino's Spaghetti House for better food and a better dining experience.

Nice spot for Italian food on commercial drive - great for date night. Our server was very nice and attentive. We ordered two dishes to share. The mushroom truffle pasta was great ($26) - short twists of pasta made fresh in-house, creamy truffle sauce featuring a variety of mushrooms and parmigiano. We also got the calzone napoletano ($22.50). This pizza was so unique and delicious - it was stuffed with basil, ricotta, and salami. Great meal.

Second time here and it was good! Came in on a thursday for a girls night. Our server was friendly and pleasant. Food was overall really good! The restaurant got busier as it got closer to 6pm. It made the atmosphere more lively and loud. Everything was great, except the pasta was undercooked a little bit, especially the pasta in the ragu, but if you don't mind pasta not being al dente, 10/10 would recommend trying sopra! My favourite was the Caserecce e Tartufo. Love the truffle and mushroom in it, and the pasta shape reserves the sauce well!

My wife and I chose to sit at the bar on a very busy Saturday night, we honestly though it would be a touch quieter than the tables. There was a wedding party going on and it was jammed in here, give credit to the staff working that night, they still managed to make our little date night an amazing experience. We shared a salad, pasta and pizza; this is what we refer to as our 'Triforce of Power' when visiting a casual Italian restaurant. The Toscana Salad was a great starter; Kale and Farro mixed with Tomatoes and a generous amount of what I think is Pecorino Cheese. This salad is premixed and served dressed, it was 'heavier' than I expected but the flavour here punches up very well. Terrific mouth feel, little bit crunchy and toothsome. As for the pasta, we chose the Caserecce e Tartufo. So glad the bartender helped with my pronunciation here because I was certainly doing a handy job massacring the language. The Truffle Cream sauce in this dish was honestly the best I have ever had and it was loaded with mushrooms. I feel like my mouth could freebase the sauce this as a soup or stew. Our final choice was the Amalfi Pizza, as we wanted something more acidic to counter the rich pasta. This pizza shares a number of qualities with a Puttanesca sauce; Anchovy, Capers, Black Olive, Garlic and an actual load of Leeks. Absolutely adored the flavour profile and outer portions of the crust were perfect on the chew. The middle of the pie suffered from the load of oil or brined ingredients making it to wet to handle by hand, used utensils (duh) instead of our mitts. Tight wine selection that won't overwhelm, local beer on tap, bathrooms are shared and clean. Just one last shout out to the staff here who made us feel like family at the bar, thank you!

The food was quite decent. I thought the prices were a bit inflated for just pasta, but the portion size was pretty massive -- most of us took leftovers to go. The sauces in general were a bit bland and the pasta was definitely cooked to beyond al dente, which isn't my preference for dried pasta. That said, the toppings were generous, especially for the linguine crab that I ordered (would highly recommend!). Come by before they close permanently!

My friends and I recently shared a few dishes here, and while the flavors were truly impressive,…read morethe portion sizes left us wanting more. We started with the complimentary bread, which was a total highlight. Each person gets a fresh slice that has an incredible crust and a soft, pillowy center--dipping it into the oil and vinegar was the perfect way to start the meal. For our mains, the Gnocchi Asparagi e Funghi was my favorite - the gnocchi themselves were clearly handmade and had a great texture that didn't feel heavy. The earthy mushrooms and asparagus worked really well with the parmesan cream, which was rich but didn't overpower the other flavors. The Squid Ink Linguine ai Frutti di Mare was also solid; the lobster bisque base gave it a deep, savory saltiness that coated the clams, prawns, and scallops perfectly without making the dish feel too "fishy." We also tried the Candele Al Ragù D'Anatra. The duck ragu was tender and savory, and the combination of the parmesan fondue and aged asiago added a nice, sharp saltiness that made every bite really satisfying. Everything we ate was seasoned perfectly and tasted fresh, it's just a shame the portions were so small because the flavors were definitely there. The service was excellent and very attentive; I especially appreciated that they were constantly on top of refilling my water throughout the night. The ambience also hit the right note, making it a great spot for a night out. However, the portions are definitely on the smaller side and aren't super filling. Even though every dish tasted amazing, we weren't full by the end of the meal, so it's something to keep in mind if you're arriving with a big appetite.

The restaurant was cute, cozy, and could seat us right away so we decided to give it a try. We got the poached pear salad and enjoyed it! The pears were delicious and a very refreshing salad. It did come with burrata on top which was a bit disappointing since it wasn't gooey at all. For our mains, we split the pesto rigatoni and the special which was also a rigatoni with white wine, capers, shrimp and lemon. First off, the noodles are delicious on both dishes. They are clearly handmade in the best way possible. Very tender, delicate, and almost melt in your mouth. The pesto dish was perfect but again the burrata on top was disappointing since it was sort of tough/dry and not gooey. The special dish was very good but the lemon was quite strong. Initially it was a bit too much but it did grow on you over time and I did like the dish. We ended with a tiramisu and while it was delicious, there wasn't much of the bread/cake/cookie part as it was mostly cream. Overall, it was fun to try a new place but I expected a more for the price point. For $35 per plate plus salad and dessert it was a very expensive dinner and we weren't full.
