We chanced upon this place while looking around for lunch. This restaurant is located inside Mercato di Mezzom, which is a food-hall type of place with different types of eateries and bars.
I noticed that this place has gramigna pasta on its chalkboard menu by the door, and as it's one of the local specialties I've wanted to try and a rare find elsewhere (even in Italy not to mention other countries) it was a quick decision to eat here. They also have other local specialties like tortellini in broth and tagliatelli bolognese.
When we walked in, we saw that the tiny place was really packed and the waitress looked really busy and a bit frazzled. Uh oh, I thought. But she seated us quickly at a just-emptied table, and turned on her smiles and patience for us as she explained the menu. Talk about professionalism!!
The food came fairly quickly, and i have to say the gramigna was delicious!!! Okay, it being the one and only specimen I have tried, calling it the best gramigna I ever had doesn't count for much, but how about it's among the best pasta dish I ever had? The hand made pasta with the perfect texture, and delicious sauce which comes from many hours of cooking... it's as good as Italian pasta gets, simple, homely but so heavenly. And oh for €9!! It's one of those dishes that will forever haunt my dreams. read more
