Went here with some friends to celebrate their arrival in the UK. We're all Italian, so we know our…read morestuff, especially when it comes to food.
Never tried the place before and I've to admit this is OK, but not as much as I was expecting.
Even though the restaurant is Italian style, unsurprisingly there is nobody in the whole place who speak a word of it.
It is not because I'm that fussy about the language, rather because this kind of support the chef in adapting recipes to the English world, rather than committing to the Italian tradition and our cooking style.
For instance, the pasta dishes were all floating into lots of creams that was covering the taste of the remaining ingredients.
The pizza was just fine, but the oven is not wood driven as it says. A wood oven is there, but it is gas driven. And this inevitably alters the taste (we picked this restaurant because somewhere I read about the wood oven).
Always about the pizza, I didn't like the fact they cook them into a tray. Something traditional about the pizza is the irregularity if the shape. All our pizzas were so geometrically perfect but slightly gummy.
Desserts were good. Wasn't able to pick whether they were hand made or industrial product. Despite being reassured about the latter not to be an option, the size and the perfect shape still leaves me with some doubt.
As for the interior, the place is relatively small, would say not more that 40 seats, nicely decorated with gentle staff.
Plenty of parking outside, although the place is not on any "commercial" route, and you must drive there on purpose.
Price wise, it's a bit expensive, especially considering portions are not that generous as they could be.
