The next patient is different and will have a different experience. That said, I'm going to give a review about the Weil Clinic itself. This is one of the nicest physician offices I've ever been in. They seem to have most of the first floor, so it's very large and spread out. The patient waiting area is really nice, with various seating options. They have a new patient portal / kiosk to fill out paperwork electronically. It feels very modern and comfortable. Some people may not care about that, but if you are going to visit your doctor it might as well be a nice and comfortable environment. You may have a different doctor than I do, but I feel everyone was very thorough and gave me adequate information to make decisions.

Dr. Lowell Weil Jr. performed my bunion surgery and told me afterward that everything had gone well. He referred me to physical therapy at the therapy practice located in the same building. After about two months of therapy, I began experiencing random, sharp pain whenever I moved my foot or walked. I was eventually told that one of the screws was touching a nerve. Although I was in significant pain, I was told the hardware could not be removed until the bone had healed. Three months after my original surgery, I underwent a second surgery to remove the plate and screws. The sharp pain was gone, but my big toe felt like it had "pins and needles," similar to the sensation when your foot falls asleep. Dr. Weil told me I simply needed more physical therapy. I continued therapy for another six months. Instead of improving, the sensation in my toe gradually disappeared. Today, I have no feeling in my big toe. At a follow-up appointment, Dr. Weil met with me without the staff member who normally sat in during appointments to take notes. During that visit, he told me that it appeared he may have injured a nerve while removing the screws, which could explain the numbness in my toe. One of the reasons I chose to have bunion surgery was so I could comfortably wear flip-flops and other open-toe shoes again. Ironically, because I have no feeling in my big toe, flip-flops and shoes without a heel strap are now difficult for me to wear because I cannot properly feel or control the front of my foot. Looking back, I also question why I was repeatedly told to continue physical therapy when my symptoms were steadily getting worse rather than better. My insurance ultimately stopped covering therapy after nine months. Since my experience, I have spoken with several other women who also reported having complications following surgery at this practice, some of which they described as even more serious than mine. While I can only speak to my own experience, mine resulted in permanent numbness that has affected my daily life. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice.
