Now this place is a must if you're ever in St. Joe, Mo. The service is unbelievable. Even if you have to wait for your table & you're just standing off to the side, they'll hand you a beer (or drink) of choice while you wait. The waitresses, know their jobs, they are constantly coming around and checking on their tables no matter how busy they are asking if anything is needed, if everything is ok, etc. The food is delicious to say the least. Even the BLT has more B on it than I've seen any place have in a very long time. The place itself is very clean and well maintained, especially for as busy as they stay all the time. My wife & I ate at this establishment for the first time yesterday evening. We had a gift certificate so we figured we would use it. Over the years I've heard so many people speak on how wonderful the food is. I ordered a KC strip medium rare w/ fries & had a side of broccoli. My wife ordered the catfish bites. My steak had grill flavor. As far as seasoning goes: bland. My wife's catfish was seasoned well. She was pleased w/ her meal. Kyle, our waiter asked how our meal was. I was honest & told him my steak was not seasoned. At this point I believe he felt to no longer ask us if we needed refills. He walked past our table several times checking up on the table sitting behind us. A $15-$20 tip he could have easily had if he had kept our drinks refilled & showed presence turned into an $8.00 tip. I will go as far to say that I would have considered revisiting the establishment & ordering something else. I also take into account that it's a bar & grill. I imagine if I would have ordered chicken fingers & fries under the same circumstances I would be more-apt to return. So a lesson to myself is to not order a steak at a bar & grill. We ate here on a Monday evening, which happened to be $1.50 Taco night. Obviously the place was very busy. The waitress was sick, couldn't hear (even speaking very loudly), and was very short tempered/fused. So service could definitely use some improvement! I ordered 2 beef hard shell tacos and 2 beef soft tacos. Order came back with 4 hard shell tacos, so sent them back to get the correct order. The order came back for the second time and I ate the 2 hard shell tacos. I started to eat the soft taco and it was chicken, so had to send it back again!!! Finally got the order back a third time and it was correct. Frustrating! The other 2 people in my party both had cold mashed potatoes with their meals. So those had to be sent back too. The place has pinball machines and pool tables along with a bar. It also has a wide variety of seating scattered throughout the facility. Televisions were on so you can watch sports. Of course it was rather loud when we were there. Just needs improvement on wait staff and cooking/kitchen staff. read more

Adams Bar and Grill Review June 5, 2016 We've dined at Adams Bar and Grill many times and have always been pleased, until today. Eight, visiting, family members gathered at Adams at 6:00 pm, June 5, 2026. We had reservations and were promptly seated to tables that were prepared with menus, silverware, napkins, condiments, everything necessary to start our dining experience. Amy, our server greeted us, took our orders for drinks and promptly took orders for drinks as our other family members arrived. Amy described the night's special and gave us a few minutes to review the menu. We ordered five "Starters" and they arrived shortly, hot, delicious and plentiful. Amy gave us plenty of time to enjoy the "Starters" and then took our variety of orders for the main entree. The main entrees arrived together and no one had to wait for anyone to be served. The entrees were well presented and hot. One entree ordered was for rare, prime rib, as rare as possible. The prime rib that was served was not rare but pink and tough. We showed Amy that the prime rib was not rare, she took it away and returned a few minutes with another prime rib. The second prime rib was even more done than the first and Amy had the manager, Kyle, come to our table. Kyle said all he did was take the prime rib and dip it in au jus for 15 seconds and that's as rare as he could get it, "So what do you want me to do? Kyle didn't even wait for an answer and left our table. Neither the first or second prime rib were eaten, not one bite, and were returned to the kitchen. When I received the bill it showed being charged for the prime rib that was not prepared properly, and not one bite was eaten. I talked to Amy at the desk and showed her I was being charge for the unsatisfactory prime rib and asked why it was not comped off the bill. Amy said she'd get Kyle. Kyle came out to the desk and I asked why I was being charged for the prime rib that was unsatisfactory and not eaten. Kyle said, "You expect me to be out $50 for the two prime ribs?". I countered with "You expect me to pay for one prime rib that was not prepared properly and not eaten?". Kyle, put his had on my shoulder and condescending said, "Sir you just have a nice day.". Amy did remove the charge for the unsatisfactory prime rib but this rude encounter with Kyle made me decide to remove Adams Bar and Grill from any further dining. Another member of our group ordered prime rib, rare, as rare as possible. That prime rib did arrive rare but contained numerous, stringy and sinew pieces that about one fifth of the steak was inedible. Lessons learned: 1. Never go to a bar and grill to get a steak, where it's prepared by dipping it in hot au jus for 15 seconds, go to a real steak house that knows the proper cooking methods for prime rib. 2. Don't expect to receive a top quality steak from a bar and grill, go to a restaurant that specializes in steaks. 3. Always check your bill for charges for goods and services not received. 4. Never give return business to a restaurant that treats a customer rudely after pointing out unsatisfactory food. read more

On cold days, the front room is cold. Move back away from the door. Their breakfasts are pretty good. They serve brown hashbrowns, and their sausage gravy over biscuits is tasty. I think their bacon is undercooked, and if you ask for it crispy, it comes out burned. The servers I've had, have been attentive. I've not eaten there for lunch in a very long time. read more

This place has that charming hole-in-the-wall vibe. You seat yourself and walk to the register when you wanna pay. I met friends here for brunch but they don't serve breakfast after 11am so we pivoted and had lunch instead. I wish I had taken pictures but I was so hungry I forgot. I started with a spicy bloody mary which was garnished with olives and a pickle. It was very good. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, they were also quite tasty. My friends ordered boneless wings and a grilled cheese. Everyone was pleased with their food and the bill. Stopped by on Friday, July 26 shortly after an apparent lunch crowd departed. Was searching for something other than a chain restaurant and am glad we found this. Adams has small town local crowd and charm of some of the best taverns and restaurants that Ive been to. I had the Catfish fillets which were incredible while my girlfriend remarked about how great her Reuben was. While seated at the bar, we had excellent service from Cage. You'll have to look hard for this place but it's worth it. We stopped in for a quick meal when we were in town from KC for a high school hockey game. The menu is American comfort food. Apps, burgers, sandwiches, steaks etc my wife ordered tacos which had great seasoning and the salsa was tasty. I had the roast beef sandwich covered in gravy with mashed potatoes. Very good, tender meat the gravy was delicious. On a Friday night the parking is a challenge so you might have to drive around once or twice or walk a bit. Enjoy! read more

Recently visiting (I live in florida) I came in here with my whole family and the place was PACKED! Keep in mind this was me and 9 other family members, we sat down and was immediately greeted by our server a very nice girl with blonde hair by the name of Cassidy . She took our drink orders and in less than I would say 3 minutes she was back with everything and ready to take down our order. The food came so fast I would say we were only there an hour or less ! I would definitely say this is one of the top restaurants saint joseph has to offer I was completely shocked by the great service, the manager even came over and greeted us to make sure everything was up to par, which it was ! If you get a chance to Oder the adams famous philly and the pork tenderloin you should it was DELICIOUS!
