What a friendly neighborhood cafe! Soul de Cuba did not disappoint. The staff were all so cheerful and friendly from the moment we stepped inside the restaurant. The waxy red tablecloths and Cuban music videos playing on the screen in the back made the atmosphere more laidback, and it also set this place apart from all the run-of-the-mill, cutesy type breakfast places around Kelowna. The shredded beef eggs benny was incredible! Maybe not the best I've ever had, but definitely up there. The beef had so much flavor jam packed into it, and you could tell it had been slow cooked with love. I felt that the hollandaise sauce was nothing to write home about; I would've liked to see it a bit creamier with a stronger hint of lemon to keep the flavor bright. Hash browns were also alright; reminded me of the cafeteria in my first year university dorm. To sum it up: Excellent service and perfectly poached eggs over amazing beef, and I will definitely be back when in Kelowna! read more

The ropa vieja is authentic and highly recommended. The congri was okay, but only okay because I'm used to eating the protein over white rice and black beans. It was a pleasant surprise to know that a cuban place was found in Kelowna. The interior was bright and pleasant. The service was great. Surely supply is tough to get but having platanos maduros, Malta or Materva beverages would have made the place more authentic. read more

I really wanted a Cubano, more than just about anything. Man did this place DELIVER. Absolutely excellent Cuban sandwich, one of the best I've ever had. There are a lot of locals and people who really like this place and I can see why. Nearly 5 stars and they really rave about the breakfasts. Obviously we had to come here. Cuban style eggs bennies and scrambles. The service was really good. Happy and enthusiastic and you just kept rooting for them. The coffee was avoid size. The breakfast menu simply laid out. We orders the scrambles. One with ground beef and spices and the other with pulled beef and spices and peppers. We both figured that the breakfast was a good dish but not quite 5 stars. However the service was. 3.4-4 stars rating I think is reasonable. You'll have to come and try it. Better than that I hear they have a dinner menu that I will not be able to try this time in Kelowna. I hope someone can write about it. I like Cuban food. read more

My husband and I hit this place up for breakfast on a weekday morning and it was just great. We were both happy with the service and our spicy and flavourful breakfasts. At the end of our meal we ordered a second coffee each to go and walked down to the lake front. The cafe was half full by the time we departed, an hour after it opened. Wonderful food! I don't tend to eat a lot of fish but I have to go back for their snapper dish. Unbelievable. I had it a couple days ago and can't wait to return and have it again. Everything we ordered was good. We lucked out because they had good entertainment that played Cuban and Mexican influenced music. It was an all around pleasant night. I have to mention their rice pudding dessert. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything special. I think I would maybe charge a buck more and layer the pudding with whipped cream in a parfait type dish with a sprig of mint and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I would rather pay a little extra and get the whipped cream in there with it. It was served in a little regular dish that just didn't turn on my visual tastebuds. But I can't wait to return. Great stop for a casual authentic meal. The restaurant is quite small but has a little patio that is separated from the street and sidewalk by hedges, and great relaxed but intimate atmosphere. Cuban music was playing over the speakers indoors and out. The menu selection is a bit limited but they have separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. I stopped for supper on a warm evening and had a nice experience on the patio with a Havana mojito and the ropa vieja. The combined flavouring of the sauce and shredded beef was absolutely delicious! It's mostly a breakfast place, although we had their two special meat dishes ( ropa vieja, and something that sounds like priscilla) and both were great and came with salad rice and soup.
