A nice place for some good ol' brunch and lunch! Came here with a group of friends for a quick brunch meal before we head back home to Vancouver. A lot of their food is locally sourced and they have seasonal offerings! I ordered the eggs benny and added smoked salmon and cream cheese. The dish also came with a goat cheese sauce and harissa with potatoes. The dish was delicious, though I wished they were a bit more generous with the harissa and goat cheese sauce. It was almost used for decor rather than being a part of the dish. Tasted everyone else's dishes and they were good. The service was pleasant. We were a group of 6 and they accommodated us right away, despite us not making reservations (apparently it's a thing in Kelowna lol). Our server was helpful in every way. The pricing is a bit on the higher scale than what I'm used to, especially for brunch and the portion sizes are a tad small, but enough to satisfy you until your next meal. read more

Been here twice before, came again 2 days ago for dinner and had the ancient grains salad and the veggie burger. The veggie burger was soooooo delicious. It's a black bean/quinoa burger and I've had tons of veggies burgers at restaurants before. This is the best one I've had. You can tell it's a house made patty. It's super flavourful and delicious. We got it without cheese and got grainy mustard instead. We loved the burger. The burger came with a salad and it was the same as the ancient grain salad we ordered. The ancient grain salad was very good, I loved the flavour, kale, and the roasted veggies and everything it came with. The only thing about it is that i believe it was seasoned with salt. Had the 'smores waffle: chocolate waffle, giant toasted marshmallow that was just the right gooeyness and roasted flavor, with chocolate sauce and syrup. It was sweet but not cloying, richly chocolate without burying the other flavors. The latte was perfect with great foam, which makes sense given the amazing and elegant espresso machine they have. Today's special, a salmon potato pancake, was beautifully presented and had a nice mix of flavors with grilled onions and capers, and several sauces. The pancake had just the right texture. Curious is a very cool breakfast spot. I would rate them four stars, however the service was so ridiculously bad I can only bring myself to give them a 3. I also found a very very tiny pebble in my pizza, which really hurt my tooth. This kind of thing doesn't super bother me like I am sure it would most. So I removed it and kept eating of course lol!! I am pretty sure it's because the pizza is the best I've had in a long time, spicy salami,pickled fennel, with very good red sauce. Who new pickled fennel would be the most wonderful thing my taste buds would come across that day. My boyfriend had the eggs Benny, and he said it was decent. Not the best he's had, but good. They have lovely specialty coffee, however it takes a life time to get on your table. The server was a very pretty, sweet young girl, who I think was oblivious to how awful her service was. We would keep reminding her that we ordered something, and she wouldn't acknowledge she forgot, or that it was taking very long. I believe management needs to communicate to people coming in, if they are short staffed of behind in the kitchen, that their food may take awhile because of this. Then we know what we are getting ourselves into. Then I wouldn't be writing this three star review. I would say well they told us, this kinda thing happens, but there was zero communication. It was extremely loud in the room so loud we couldn't hear the music. The pizza was okay, quite plain and my partner said his burger was decent. This was an excellent place for brunch during the week downtown a few blocks from the waterfront. We had the Avocado and egg sandwich with a smoked salmon side and the Bennies Hash with pulled pork side. Both dishes were extremely tasty and excellent choices. Included with the hash was ketchup coulis on the side and potatoes cooked the right amount. Once we got it. The burgers were so over cooked and dry and we only had an hour for lunch. The place only had 4 other people in it. So happy to have been recommended by a friend to go here. The 3 oz drinks are a great deal and served in such a clever way with options such as giant ice cubes and side cars of your choice. My personal fave was the 3 oz Negroni with side car of sparkling water. Hands down I recommend the fish fry which is a huge piece of catfish lightly battered set on a hellova tuna coleslaw topped with fresh pea shoots and home made tartar. We chose this place for BRUNCH based on Yelp reviews -- we had one last meal before leaving Kelowna and didn't want it to be disappointing. For me, it was fantastic. The space itself is airy, with so many quirky/cool/funky details in the decor, tableware, fixtures, etc., to keep your eyes entertained the whole time. The large, old-fashioned-style espresso machine is just one thing that catches your eye and let's you know you are somewhere that is going to do things right. The service was really friendly, took time to help us order, and authentically engaged with us. No superficial cheeriness, just a lovely person to chat with. Completely knowledgeable about the menu, too. Every staff person we interacted with was genuinely nice. The only room for improvement is in the area of attentiveness-- a few times it took longer to get someone's attention than we'd hoped. As for the food-- every morsel of the Benny was amazing. No exaggeration. This was the best Benny I have had in at least the last decade. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and to my specifications; the balance of flavours and portions was perfect-- starches, greens, sauces and eggs-- all in just the right amount. I had thought the English muffins were too small, but I left full and not over-full. I was tempted to lick the plate clean, but resisted the urge. (Of course, now I have set everyone's expectations super high, but I think you'll be delighted if you like a mix of unique Mediterranean flavours-- Harissa sauce, feta cream....) For those interested, it is a vegetarian dish. My tea was also good. Not that big a deal, but they are obviously using quality ingredients for everything. My brunch companion, unfortunately, was less delighted. She had ordered the prosciutto pizza, from their wood burning pizza oven. It looked fantastic, and maybe someone else would have found it so. She felt it was a little bland (they did offer her chili oil, which she declined) and chewy. Nonetheless, she enjoyed her time at the cafe, due mostly to the great service, atmosphere, and tea. Went for breakfast today and sat at a beautiful window seat. The decor and ambiance is top notch for Kelowna or even Vancouver or Calgary, I was really impressed with the design and feel of the place. Music was good, service was just okay, but the food was very disappointing. Everyone at the table ordered the Eggs Benedict with a side of bacon. We were the only table in the place and it took about 30 minutes for the order to come out. The eggs were poached hard and the cilantro hollandaise was nothing special. The potato hash was just cubed potatoes and sweet potatoes that lacked seasoning and the crispy bits one expects from a hash. The hash was topped with a few wilted alfalfa sprouts, they have some beautiful micro greens growing in the front cooler but unfortunately they didn't use them. They offer freshly baked breads from the forno oven, but the bennies are served with old dry english muffins like you would find at any grocery store or junky chain restaurant. There was also a feta cream, like whipped cream with feta in it, but they topped it with the hot bacon so it quickly became a puddle on the plate. The Americano coffee was decent and the bacon wasn't great (hard to believe that's possible). I would not return based on the food experience, but really liked the space so will maybe give their pizzas a try at lunch sometime. Really wanted this place to be great, but they need to up their breakfast game. read more

Ahh, Curious. I think they have a few small kinks to work out, but overall it's a decent place to grab a bite. It's a community table type restaurant, so it gets EXTREMELY loud when it's busy - like, painfully loud. I've never been in a restaurant that physically pains me to sit in. I think some heavy curtains, tapestries, or something to break up the sound is really in order. Also, because they're in the downtown core, they get a few pub crawlers every now and then. It's not their fault, really, but when there's no soundproofing whatsoever, it's extremely disrupting to have people hooting and hollering next to you. Service has always been exceptional, they have some great people for sure. Food's good - my fave is the relatively new fried chicken dish. Pies are good too, but you might want to ask for them to be cooked a few minutes extra, as they tend to be a little soggy in the center. Like I said, small things. read more

"I'm having a religious experience with this English muffin" - me, an atheist, to my friends. The food here was fantastic. When it comes to Eggs Benny, the English muffin is usually the weakest link. Here, they make them fresh. Do yourself a favour - order extra of the feta cream, and a side of their bacon. My friends all loved their meals as well: "best burger I've had in months" & "this clam chowder is damn tasty". My friends aren't always easy to please, so this unanimous glowing review should grant you, dear reader, confidence in knowing this is a good place to stop. The service was slow through no fault of the wait staff - management forgot to staff up for the holiday Monday. Our waiter was pleasant and funny, though you could tell he was a bit stressed.
