TIPS: It was clear to me that she understood women's health and treatment options - was great at open discussion and risk/benefit of HRT for perimenopause. Be an advocate and partner in your health. While self diagnosis via "Dr Google" is not great- legitimate research of peer reviewed articles and studies can help you to understand the questions you might ask. If you ask the Dr and still don't understand... ask them to explain in a different way. You're worth it!

In my…read morefirst appointment, I was debating out loud about whether to pay for individual appointments, or to buy the package, because the difference in cost per appointment was a lot. Seeing me debating, she said if I didn't think it was helping we could just convert from package back to individual appointments. It sounded easy. What ensued was this. I had a good experience with my procedure, and told her so, and told her I'm not sure if the work she did helped but I was willing to entertain that it might have. I planned to continue working with her in the future in case it was part of what was helpful. (There were a lot of factors that could have played into it, including that my new dentist is a truly wonderful person and I felt incredibly safe, and also that for the first time I used Ibuprofen and tylenol the night before and again an hour before my procedure. From subsequent experiences, I have more and more reason to believe this has made a huge impact on my experience of pain during dental procedures.). I asked if we could convert the package back to individual appointments. I also mentioned I was planning on pursuing hyperthermia therapy for Lyme. Here is one excerpt from our email exchange: Tina wrote "I'm not willing to refund you based on email exchanges alone. I know that you had tremendous progress with me, and I have the ability to help you continue to heal. It's very common in my line of work for clients to want to quit once they are on the verge of true transformation. I know this is true for you...it would be unethical for me to let you give up this easily when I know that I can make a huge difference in your health." Here's another excerpt: Tina wrote "I was hoping I could have saved you a ton of money. But you didn't give me the chance to show you what was possible. I"m baffled as to why you didn't give me a chance and decided to fly all the way to Germany for an expensive procedure when you had a far more affordable option. I do have a history of being able to help people when nothing else will." I feel quite comfortable with "out there" therapies on my complex health journey. But any possibility that I would continue working with her in the future was more than tanked by this email exchange. She did not convert my package back to individual appointments; it was a loss to the tune of about $1200. Part of the problem was that her criteria for giving me my money back was if I didn't think it was helping. And the truth is, I don't know if it helped or not, and that's what I told her. I couldn't feel anything when she worked with me, I didn't have a felt sense of whether it was working or not. There was no plan on her part for this scenario, and I think she should have (still should) refund my money. If others get a lot out of seeing her, I'm glad for that. I hope for her healing and prosperity as much as my own. I'm writing this so that others may know that after my two appointments, the "container" changed dramatically. If you decide to work with her, I'd recommend paying as you go rather than buying the package.

When you're going through something like that it's not always easy to see these things on your own! He was straight forward and at times said things that were true but hard for me to see or hear at that moment. Later I would see things as he saw them! He gave me a book that would change my whole life and open my eyes to the situation I was in at that time. Bells went off like never before!! This in my opinion is what therapy is about! He goes beyond just a therapy session! With progression there's homework involved and there's things that you have to actively be doing on your own and he make sure of this! He does not smile and nod blankly leaving you feeling like the last hour was a colossal waste of time as you walk to your car. Steve engages with you and makes every effort to help you get to who/what/where you want to be as a person in this world. Steve has a talent for seeing past all the chaos and emotion surrounding a situation and targeting in on the base issue. I must admit there are times it is a bit unnerving for a control freak like myself, but ultimately I appreciate his gift and I know that it has served me well in situations where I felt stuck and unable to overcome what was troubling me. Steve was recommended to our family when my then 14 year old was having a rough time in her life. She saw him twice a week and I was involved in those sessions also. As time passed I felt that having a session of my own would benefit my daughter and myself. With Steve's guidance and insight my daughter overcame a lot of the issues that were effecting her life and eventually stopped her therapy. I found that my sessions helped me be a better mother, wife, sister and friend to all of the people around me. I decided to continue for a while. I have now been a client of Steve's on and off for 6 years. That may seem like a long time and you may be thinking to yourself, " WOW, 6 years and she's still having to see him?". However over the two years my child went to see her, she handled many situations poorly. When treating children, it's equally important to be able to work with all family members in a clear, direct and honest way. She was unable to do that, and ended up making comments to one parent about the other that made the family situation worse. She created conflict and confusion. My child eventually did better when I stopped taking her to see Julia. Another person I know who worked with her was also getting advice that was sometimes helpful, but at other times it made her worse, as the advice seemed to lack compassion & kindness. I wish I had taken my child to see another therapist!

She helped two of my kids through some really tough times with depression, anxiety, drug use, and really scary things for all of us after my ex and I got divorced. I read one of the other reviews here but I don't know what the other person is talking about. Julia was always understanding and supportive to both me and my ex even when we had difficulty learning how to do that for each other. She seemed to always show care, wisdom, ethics consideration when handling all situations. My kids always felt comfortable with how she talked to them as adults and helped to protect their confidentiality. My ex-wife and I also always felt respected with how she spoke to us during that process. She really helped my kids and helped them stay close to both of us. For that we are eternally grateful. Since that time I have known many friends and neighbors who have seen Julia. Sometimes it can be hard to get on her calendar. It seems like she often has a wait list because she is really good at what she does and people know it. I tried going to some other counselors before and just did not get much out of it. About a year ago I decided to go see Julia as well. She is kind, warm and caring no matter what I talk about. She is extremely insightful and sees things I often miss. But, she is also really funny, so I just have a good time talking. I am feeling so much better about the problems that were bothering me when I started. But I did not expect to really learn so much more about myself along the way. I feel like I am a happier person, a better person for the time I have been going. My counseling sessions really are one of the highlights of my week. If you are choosing between counselors. This is the one you want.

Save yourself HUNDREDS. PILES OF MESSES EVERYWHERE in his office, it was shocking…read more NO STAFF. I had to ask him about 4 times to please mail the insurance claim to me before he finally did, and he messed up on my insurance form. If I hadn't caught it I wouldn't have been reimbursed properly. $350/hour, I was told when I scheduled the appt. there would be a diagnosis & medication prescribed. WRONG. He gave me the excuse at the end that since he hadn't gotten my records from my previous doctor, he didn't want to prescribe yet. My previous doctor tried 7 times to fax him, but his fax number is his main line so that was his fault for not having an adequate fax/phone system. Yet he tried to pass the blame onto my doctor! $350 yet another appointment, no clear diagnosis. Then $100 for a 15 minute session, still no concrete diagnosis one way or another. New medication he prescribed caused me terrible anxiety and panic attacks, and I called him 4 times in 2 weeks with ZERO RESPONSE!! I've given up and am moving on. What a total waste.
