You are assigned your spot in the room. No socks are permitted. And don't even think about bringing your water bottle in with you. More importantly, there isn't a hint of instruction. He calls out the poses in "yoga-ese," and the hard core people snap into action. As for me, who has no damned clue what the words meant, I was left to scramble behind, trying to duplicate what they were doing. Poorly. The "instructor"/owner is not remotely friendly. If he is seeking additional clientele, his aloofness, if not downright hostility, certainly isn't helping his cause.

The entrance is a small space and they had lockers available. I was welcomed by our instructor and she explained where everything was. Class included Merriweather Reformer/Tower combos. I loved the equipment! The beginner class that I took was a challenge and modifications were given. The elders were working it out on the equipment and I didn't feel uncomfortable that holding table for me was kinda of a broken leg table versus everyone else. It was a full body workout and the usage of multiple Pilates equipment was a pleasant experience. They do class packs versus monthly membership and it's really affordable. There is also physical therapy done in the building. One day I will try that as they incorporate Pilates in the treatment.

He was able to address concerns with my neck and spine movements, and helped me gain basic movements back after realizing they were lacking. The process was supportive and therapeutic. The place is equipped with everything possible for healing and recovery through Pilates-based methods. Highly recommend Ron and the instructors here, especially if you are in recovery or heading back into movement after some time off. They are kind and caring, and make you feel comfortable despite any limitations.

The trip was planned out and organized with 4 different yoga sessions, a guided silent hike (so incredible), lots of free time, and seriously gourmet meals provided for breakfast and dinner each day. The lodge we stayed at was out of a movie - it was absolutely huge and so gorgeous. There's a lake on site with canoeing and paddle boating, a waterfall leading into the lake, and a covered and cushioned seat at the top of the waterfall. There's multiple firepits and fireplaces outside, and we sat outside at night and watched the stars and went in the huge hot tub. This place was seriously out of control beautiful. The weather was 60 and sunny (SO GORGEOUS SUNNY) every day and it truly made the whole experience that much more magical. Besides all the natural beauty and adventuring available on site at the lodge, it's of course right in the hocking hills area, so some of the best hikes in the US are a 5 minute drive. During the day on Saturday my sister and I hiked up to a rock climbing and repelling area and ate our lunch while watching people scale rockfaces and repel back down. It was seriously glorious. I've never been on a yoga retreat before, but this was so much fun. Jessica (owner) is an outstanding host and I just cannot stop gushing about this retreat, you guys. Her yoga practice is so caring and thought provoking and honest, it's just beautiful. Everything was great. 5 stars!

She makes it a point to introduce herself to any new students. She always asks the class if there's anything we would like to focus on for that day, to which she immediately responds to using improv to cater to your needs. Her hands on adjustments are subtle yet engaging and allows you to deepen your practice significantly. She is a tremendous asset to Citizen Yoga. The other instructors and receptionists are also very kind and personable, they never meet a stranger.

Instead, my experience with a specific weekend instructor has been incredibly uncomfortable and unprofessional--ranging from her constantly complaining about being tired or sick, to making personal digs at me, and most recently, making a hostile face at me that forced me to walk out of class mid-session. Because of my job, weekends are the only times I can work out. Seeing this instructor's name on the schedule literally raises my blood pressure, and I haven't been able to use the membership I pay for. I want to give a shout-out to Lauren, the manager, who has been absolutely lovely, understanding, and validating every time we've spoken. But unfortunately, understanding isn't enough when little to no action is taken to actually correct the behavior. A gym/studio should be a safe space where you feel cared for and motivated. The space is clean, welcoming and chill; the instructors are friendly, knowledgable and inclusive. Same with my classmates. I see people from all walks of life in here seeking to strengthen their cores for the resistance. The breadth of equipment is great--I had never used a springboard before. The pricing is a wee more wallet friendly than other places, though I miss having a 12 class/month option. They also have a phone app so scheduling classes is a breeze. I also dig the "Activity" section where you can view your entire class history.

So far I have tried gentle hatha (was my first time practicing hatha but Maura made it so approachable) and their restorative class, both of which made me feel rejuvenated.
