Between the accountability, meetings with Danny, messages and ability to interact and ask questions of the other trainers whether in person or through MyCoach, I've experienced quite the shift in my mindset, habits and ability to focus on my goals and stay the course. Deeply internalizing my "why" (instead of thinking it's so easy for those people, or I deserve this treat !) and remembering "it is my choice to lose this weight and maintain it, because I value and want good health and fitness" is huge. Perspective.....Honoring the commitments I've made to myself is another great way to get my tush out of bed and keep me from grabbing chocolate (even if it's healthy dark chocolate) or snacks when I'm exhausted and emotionally fried after a long day at work. I finally sit down and proceed to watch my husband chow down a progression of food like ice cream, popcorn, a hot dog, and oh yeah....a bowl of nuts with a couple of cookies tossed on top! This after a healthy dinner. And the dude doesn't gain!!! I eat very clean, no pop, no fast food ever and almost no processed food. Any yet those 10 pounds relentlessly find me. Not this time. I've committed to tracking my food for a year, (it's amazingly easy for the fats and carbs to skyrocket when I'm thinking oh I didn't eat that much today). I let Danny's words propel me to action......track before you snack....or eat! Seeing in black and white my choices really helps me to decide how I want my day and ultimately my figure to look. I am happily continuing my journey and I will not let those pesky pounds find me!

My Summer Haven!!!!…read more I found Yoga Planet Studio on Groupon and I tried the Unlimited Yoga for a month like Lauren S. A month has passed since I used the Groupon and I still find myself coming back for more. I also managed to buy a 3 months Unlimited Yoga Pack for $199 ($100 Off Summer Special). I am currently addicted to the YinShape Hot Vinyasa Class, a class in a very hot room (around 85-90 F) and the place gets hotter as the class gets bigger. I usually create a puddle of sweat around so I always bring a yoga mat towel on top of my yoga mat to avoid slipping. Face towels are also provided in the studio. Another favorite class of mine is the Slow Flow Candlelight. Everyone should try this. The class is so serene and soothing with candles spread all over the bamboo floor. How relaxing is that??? Giuliana is my favorite instructor so far. She teaches most of my classes. She sets the ambience for the practice and motivates you to breathe (to achieve Victoria's Breath aka ujjayi breathing aka oceanic breath) throughout the practice. Giuliana also encourages you to create a modified pose when the yoga pose is far too advanced. She's very helpful in guiding you with the poses, especially for beginners. Jackie also does a great job teaching. She has a very calm personality that draws you in thus creating a very tranquil mood. The studio is very eco-friendly. From the cool bamboo wood floors to the zero VOC paint on the wall, the whole place is environmentally and socially responsible. The studio is also equipped with 2 restrooms/changing rooms. I have really enjoyed the classes, the atmosphere and, most importantly, the instructors. I have had Giuliana for the majority of my classes, and she does a wonderful job at providing instruction on how to easily flow into the postures and creates a wonderful mood and focus during the classes. I've also had Jackie for a Hot Vinyasa class (she kicked my ass during that class, but in a really good way) and Lindsay for the Ashtanga Elements class. Another great feature about the studio is that everything is made with recycled, chemical-free and toxic-free materials. The studio offers a pretty wide variety of classes at convenient times throughout the day and evening. Also, if you attend a class and find some of the postures difficult, the instructors always offer different, easier options so you can keep with the flow of the class. I've only been practicing here for a few weeks, but the studio has already offered two great discounts on packages. If you're interested in trying yoga for the first time or simply want to try a new studio, keep an eye on the company's website - it posts when discounts and specials are available.
