I've been dealing with a prolonged illness, and per their own policy, clients with symptoms are not allowed to attend class (which I fully respect). But when I reached out to explain my situation, I was only given a two-week extension -- no flexibility, no empathy, just a firm deadline. When I tried to use the remaining classes before expiration, I did not show up due to a worsening cough at the day of class-- again, trying to be responsible and follow their rules. I then received a late cancel/no show warning email, which said I'd normally be charged an extra $15 fee on top of the class I already paid for, just for being too sick to attend. Although the fee was waived this time, the tone of the message and the overall approach felt more like a punishment system than a client-centered one. The policy is confusing, rigid, and completely lacking in support for people dealing with health issues. It left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome -- not something I expect from a wellness studio.

When I got home I got an email about my bill from Pilates V which was a charge for grip socks which I did not purchase. I ended up reaching out to management for a refund. There was a couple back and forth with the emails where I had to reach out for updates. It did become a bit frustrating because I didn't talk to the instructor at all but was told that the instructor said it was me that purchased. In the end I received my refund which I was thankful for however I feel like this could have been solved in a more efficient way. I ended up not using the rest of the Groupon classes but it's a loss I would rather take than take more classes.

During a session, I barely work up a sweat, but I know I've worked plenty when I feel a just-right amount of muscle soreness the next day. Due to a back injury, this is important so that I don't create more problems from over-doing the workout. If I have a sore spot when I arrive, the workout is modified to accommodate the issue. Purifying Pilates has been a fundamental component in healing, strengthening and maintaining my back. During my workouts, we target all of my muscle groups, not just the core. As a result, I have occasionally surprised my husband with my arm strength, and I've got better posture than him. Rene and Martine attend supplemental Pilates workshops, which shows their commitment to keeping up-to-date on the latest techniques. They bring that knowledge back to the studio, which helps to change things up a little during the sessions, and keeps it interesting. I look forward to my time here; it's private and relaxing. The studio has it's own restroom, a space to prepare and enjoy a cup of tea, and it's convenient with cheap downtown parking directly behind the studio. Rene and Martine are very friendly, and make me feel comfortable exercising there. They also sell things like yoga socks, toe-stretchers (feels really good!), exercise balls, thera-bands, microwave hot pads (Smart Spine, I think it's called), etc. to use at home. There's a small selection of nutrition bars and drinks for sale, too. Thanks to Pilates, I'm pain-free and active, two years and counting!

The studio itself is lowly lit and is great for getting focused. It's clean and the instructors are generous w the wipes. The equipment is excellent and new. They also have pull-up bars and wheels for more dynamic calisthenic exercises. I also love how their memberships include a guest so I can bring a friend or my husband once a month! I brought my baby boy and he had an absolute blast crawling around and meeting little ones like himself. The yoga session was perfectly tailored for moms and Meredith was so accommodating with different yoga poses, making sure we breathed in and out, holding my baby at one point since he started fussing, and giving position adjustments. The practice was very calming and I loved the flow. The other moms were so sweet and welcoming. I highly recommend this class to any new moms, it was so energizing and comforting!

The instructors and staff are genuinely great, the space is always clean and welcoming, and the HVAC system is modern and well maintained, which matters a lot when you're doing hot yoga. They offer a solid variety of classes too, not just yoga but Pilates and other fitness options as well. On top of all that, it's a family owned small business, and you can feel it. They actually care about their customers, and it shows in every visit.

About an hour into class, I took my phone out of my bag for a moment to check a text because I had mistakenly thought the class was 60 minutes instead of 75, and I needed to let my husband know the correct pickup time. Before I had a chance to explain, the instructor immediately said, "Nope, no recording allowed," grabbed the phone out of my hand, and scratched my left palm with her nails in the process. I found this completely inappropriate and unnecessary. I took my phone and bag outside to call my husband, then returned to finish class. When I came back in, the instructor told me that bags were not allowed in the room and instructed me to leave mine outside, even though other students had their bags with them. The inconsistent treatment made the situation even more upsetting. I understand and respect policies about phone use and recording during class, but they should be communicated professionally and respectfully. There was no need for the instructor to physically take my phone from my hand. The entire interaction left me feeling disrespected and deeply upset. After class, I approached Kristi to express my concern and told her there was no need to physically grab my phone. She responded that I should have read the studio rules and said she was sorry she scratched me, but that "these things happen." I do not believe the scratch would have happened if she had simply communicated her request verbally instead of taking my phone. I strongly feel the studio owner and others should be aware of this incident. The way that the instructor handled this situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and unnecessary. Because of this experience, I won't be taking this instructor's class again.

The doubling up is always on days Darin is teaching! She's an amazing instructor who takes the time to show you proper body mechanics, and will help correct your form to get the best out of each exercise. I've never been so stimulated in a group setting until taking Darin's classes! She has a different routine for every class you take, and that part I enjoy the most. It helps me challenge different parts of my body in order to get stronger. My journey with my health and strength has waxed and waned over the years, adjusting and adapting to changes in my body, or due to injury. Participating in a low impact form of exercise, with stimulating routines, with different levels of difficulty has been the most fun I've had while exercising! I highly recommend taking Darin's classes. I talk about her routines with my friends all the time and encourage others to try Pilates and see how you feel after.
